Ha. The Mayan thing is definitely going to resurface, but with new claims that earlier predictions of doom were a mere mistranslation of the ancient prophesy.

Hah, I met a 2012 doomsday nut actually. Trü storie! ;) Dude was all around arrogant, crazy, etc. Even believed science fiction's take on time travel, that if you just travel faster than the speed of light, you'll start going backwards in time, rather than the reality of just traveling in an infinite universe in some direction at a very high speed...

Anyway, he could not be unconvinced of the coming doomsday at the end of 2012 and because some clown from NASA, or connections to it, wrote an article about it... One conspiracy nut cites credentials from a respectable organization in his/her past and suddenly the craziest of theories gain credibility that they don't deserve...

it is going to end, we just dont know when. as for survivalists, and 2012, i was sorta convinced, but i didnt get all crazy. i remember the 21st, i was at work thinking, damn im glad i didnt finance that boat and corvette. as if theyd approve me.

I once saw a tv show episode about a survivalist family that lived in some mountain town. They were very obsessive, and kept their kids from having friends over.

Quite stupid too. They bought a crap ton of electronics (like HDTVs), before the end of 2012, as they would not need to pay them until after 2012 (the end of the world).
