12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

A complete list with covers and at least select page scans would be a great thing. Hopefully someone puts something like that together and it gets the attention it deserves. :)
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

can you tell what kind of magazines were released back then and how many (issue month/year to issue month/year)?

I haven't seen a consolidated list of covers anywhere, but I'm sure you could find most covers by googling the specific issue.

I think there was another thread here about it somewhere, but the short answer is:

Marukatsu PC Engine:  Jan 1989 - March 1994
Gekkan PC Engine:  Jan 1989 - March 1994 (3 special issues came out before the debut of the magazine)
PC Engine Fan:  Dec 1988 - Oct 1996
Dengeki PC Engine:  Feb 1993 - May 1996.

Dengeki PC Engine became Dengeki G's Engine from June 1996.  About a year later, it became what it is now, Dengeki G's Magazine.

Hope this helps.

I was just discussing this the other day...

Main Magazines:

Marukatsu PC Engine
- from 1989-01 monthly to 1994-03 inclusive

Gekkan PC Engine
- three special issues (vol. 1, 2, and 3) in 1988 (approximately June, August, and October)
- then 1989-01 monthly to 1994-03 inclusive

PC Engine Fan
- from 1988-12 monthly to 1996-10 inclusive
- Special Issue, 1990-04, "Super Darius Kanzen Kouryakubon" (complete strategy guide)
- "Super PC Engine Fan vol. 1" (approx 1994-01), which included a music CD, not to be confused with:
- "Super PC Engine Fan Deluxe Special", vol.1 (approximately 1997-01), and vol. 2 (approximately 1997-05).  These included CD-ROMs with sampels/previews.

Dengeki PC Engine
- from 1993-02 to 1996-05 inclusive, followed by
- Dengeki G's Engine from 1996-06 to 1997-07,
- followed by Dengeki G's, dropping the PC Engine focus

But also, there were some short-run magazines (which are much more rare):

DEVELO
- Assembler Starter Kit (MOOK), BASIC Starter Kit (MOOK)
- vol. 1 (magazine), and vol. 2 (magazine)

Kanzen Kouryaku PC Engine
- only one issue in late 1988, but looked like it had intended to issue periodically

Marukatsu Engine
- prior to Marukatsu PC Engine, this was an insert into Marukatsu Famicom.  At least 3 issues came out; I only have vol. 3 from Marukatsu Famicom 1988-06-24.  I think they were issued at odd intervals.

PC Engine Club
- vol. 1 (89-12-22), vol. 2 (90-04-30), vol. 3 (90-07-31)

PC Engine Tsuushin
- only 1 actual standalone issue was actually sold (to my knowledge), 1989-12-22
- several precursor-issues were included as inserts in Famicom Tsuushin.  I am aware of (and own) 1989-05-12, 1989-09-01, 1989-09-15, 1989-09-29, 1989-10-27.

...This list doesn't include the MOOKs (such as PC Engine Capsule, or game-book combos), nor does it touch on strategy guides.  That's a whole different subject, and a much bigger one.

Well, I've got a large number of duplicates (while collecting, I bought several "sets" after I already had some in the set).  I'm willing to let these go cheap (ie. "name a price"), but shipping from the Toronto area to overseas is very expensive.  Within North America is still pricey, but less horrible.

If somebody was willing to pick them up, it would work out well for both of us.
