I just got a Duo and I was wondering what to use to power it? Any adapters from other consoles that'll work? I only found stuff for the Duo R but I'm not sure if the Duo needs something different.

As a temporary measure you can use a Genesis Model 2 power supply. Those are quite common.

My experience is that it's not recommended for long term usage. Not enough juice to run the Duo over prolonged periods without the thing heating up. You could run into unwanted issues.

The Duo power socket is 6.3x3mm though, Genesis 2 power supply is compatible with Duo-R/RX.

I'm always seem to tend to get my Genesis and Mega Drive names mixed up. :P

I was referring to the Mega Drive Model 2 power supply.

I think that is probably an even more uncommon power supply than the turbo duo. :)

There really isnt another console that uses the same supply.  You can get these two things:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2A-AC-Converter-Adapter-for-9V-1-5A-Power-Supply-Charger-DC-5-5mm-x-2-1mm-US-/371135852564

http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-Power-Plug-Jack-Change-Adapter-3-0x6-3mm-Male-to-2-1x5-5mm-Female-lot-/131665973582

The power supply is probably ok, but its a cheap Chinese one FYI.

This is unrelated to this exactly but I just wondered if you had ever come across a tip adapter that will fit with the socket on a US SNES console? I have tried searching but haven't had any luck.

This is the only one i've ever seen:
http://console5.com/store/super-nintendo-snes-power-supply-adapter-plug-cable.html
not sure where they got it from as ive never seen it anywhere else.

There is this also if you can track one down
http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/power-adapter-for-american-snes/
It uses an "R" tip that comes with some universal supplies

I've seen the one on mmmonkey before, but not the one on console5. Perhaps they had them made themselves?
Thanks for the info.

mickcris

They aren't hand made. Both ends are molded. I bought one from them.

I meant perhaps they commissioned them to be made, probably in China. They do look good quality, but the postage cost to the UK will probably be double (or more) the cost of the item.

BlackBean

Thanks for the response everyone currently enjoying the duo. To early to say I love you guys?
