Problem with the Hori Fighting Commander PC Engine Pad

I was wondering if anyone ever had this trouble with the Hori Fighting Commander PC for the PC Engine:

The buttons and d-pad works fine, as does the turbo switches for rapid-fire. However, when I try to set the controller to one of the two 6B configurations, the game freaks out. The game activates the turbo switch on EVERY button, and moving a character sometimes doesn't work as it seems as if every input for the d-pad is being pressed rapidly.

You might notice in my picture above the broken turbo switch for button IV. I've secured it in place, so I don't think that should affect the configuration of 3 button or 6 button mode.

Does anyone have one of these pads and can offer advice? I would really appreciate it!

I can't help with fixing the controller but I would contact the seller who you got it from (marketk2014) and if he/she doesn't resolve quickly then file a claim with ebay

Does the game that you are using support 6 buttons?  I have an avenue 6 and some games will do the same thing if I switch to 6 button mode.

I tried out the Hori pad with Forgotten Worlds and it had the same effect: almost like multiple inputs are being triggered at once. I am not sure which games of mine, if any, support 6-button mode. I was hoping for a controller with a good build mostly for 3 button games (like FW, or games that use the Run button heavily* like Irem HuCards), and maybe street fighter.

Since it only arrived today, I'd like to try to get some advice over the next day or so before I contact market2014 for a return. It's a shame because when set in normal 2-button mode, the controller works fine (and the build is nice). Except... i didn't buy it for 2-button mode!

*my Avenue 3 pad's III button is spotty when it comes to responding to input; I haven't yet opened it up to see if there's an obvious problem that can be remedied.

do you have an everdrive?  there is a controller test you can run on it.

also the 6 button and 3 button are different.  the 3 button just replicates the start or select on the 3rd button.  completely different thing than the 6 button controller

Is it the case that 6-button mode will cause most games to freak out (having not been built for 6 buttons)? I hear the Avenue 6 does the same thing.

This kinda blows, since the reason I bought it was for a more sturdy Avenue 3 functionality.

I have abused Ave 3 and a third party 3-button for 15 years with no major problems. Me thinks a little love can rejuvenate your Ave 3.

like i said above, the 6 button controller functions differently than the 3 button. there is an extra ic inside the 6 button controller and the 3 button just replicates the start or select button on the 3rd button.  the 3rd button on the 6 button controller would not be start or select so it would not have done what you wanted even if it didn't cause the system to freak out.
