12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

Anyone else play this? Its a great game and looks gorgeous with great cut scenes.

I'm surprised I haven't heard anything about it here. There isn't much on gamefaqs or PCE Bible either.

Great game though. I recommend! 8)

It's a nice game. It's meant to be a sequel to Aurail as well, which is a nice arcade shooter.

I'm not a fan of the cinemas, but the game is cool.

Seems like West One made more games for Hudson than Sega. :P
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Indeed, great game! I wish it had been released in the U.S., but that's true of sooooo many games. #-o

Have a copy here at home, guess after playing through some PSX RPGs i will give it a try. Still around 20 PCE RPGs to beat in my collection.

I agree, it is awesome, Blood gear is the only Japanese RPG/action game that actually held my interest all the way through. Usually I get mad that I can't read any of the dialog an give up with most Japanese RPGs.

I never finished this game. It seemed quite nice, but I reserve judgement until I beat the damn thing.

BACK IN THE DAY there were a few folks who would promote this game. That's why I grabbed it, myself. I had never considered getting it until a forum member I respected gave it DOUBLE PLUS GOOD.

I recently picked up a copy of Blood Gear based on thebrothersduomazov.com review: http://www.thebrothersduomazov.com/2013/04/blood-gear.html

Quite a bold statement from the review: "It's absolutely outstanding, one of the greatest Duo products of all time..."

I haven't had a chance to check it out yet but I'm excited to play through it when I have time.

Added to the list of games to get..... damn you.

The best thing about Blood Gear is that it's yet another original/unique game on PC Engine. The kind that make the PCE library stand out from other genre-filling game libraries.

I hope Blood Gear gets a translation at some point. There's a guide on gamefaqs at least. I love the monster world series, so this is also a no brainier to try someday.

Huh? As if the pce doesn't have a boatload of shooters, or mahjong games, or digital comics.

I think that's the point.  Blood Gear is different and not just another cookie cutter shewty or rpg.

If you pay attention to the actual games instead of automatically assigning them a cookie cutter genre, you find that there are lots of unique experiences, even when they partially fall within a stereotypical genre. Instead of additional DQ and FF clones, the PCE has things like a racing RPG, tennis RPG, pachinko RPG, fishing RPG, mahjong RPG etc. There is even a good selection of RPGs featuring Ys style ramming action.

But you listed some of the best examples of variety in the library. If you've been reading popular threads, then you know well the kind of variety there is for shooters and how unique many are, but there are are many different kinds and hybrids of mahjong games. If you're dismissing "digital comics" simply as a "boatload", then you must not have played (m)any.

I haven't played too much of Blood Gear (but that's something I hope to rectify soon). I enjoyed what I played in about an hour's worth of time, between traipsing back and for between levels. However, one thing that did wear thin were larger enemies that can't hit you but just stand there as roadblocks for you to whack (slowly) 4 or so times. The early areas are fond of these types of things (large turrets, etc.) and it slows the pace down in an unwelcome way.

The game is essentially a sci-fi Wonderboy, so it's hard to be too harsh on it (unless I play more and find out I hate it!).

Bought this game on the recommendation of runinruder (:|) back in 2009. One of the most underrated games for the PCE. I say this cautiously... it's still affordable.

Blood Gear is great. It's crazy that it doesn't get more recognition, but with JRPGs, even with action, western folk just can't seem to get into them.
