This year looks like it will be the year of the arrival of VR with Oculus Rift, Sony Morpheus & HTC Vive all launching.
I'm still yet to try it myself, I will jump in at some point, I'm just waiting till all models above are released then I'll make a choice on which to go for.

Anyone here tried it yet? Anyone own a Oculus or Vive?

Happy Console Gamer just uploaded a new video where he shoots his load everywhere after trying VR for the first time

I watched a video on VR, all I can say if a game is scary HELL NO I'm not playing it. You can watch Johnny's video and get a sense for how it's a little overwhelming on the senses.

I bought a used Oculus Dev Kit once locally. Unfortunately, my computer isn't so great and I couldn't run most of the stuff without crashing. However, the few basic things I did see, I was very impressed with. I don't think it is a fad like VR in the 90s or Playstation Move, etc.

On the other hand, it's very expensive. Maybe in another decade when you can buy them for $20, I'll get my feet wet.

Since VR is all the rage, I did what I always do and recently bought the preivous generation's gold, a 3D Vision Kit.  I'm having a lot of fun with it.  Playing the steam version of Nights in 3D looks fantastic.  As for VR, maybe in 5 years or so.

3d has been something I have always been enamored with.  I used to read all those red and blue books with the glasses when I was a kid and I have dabbled in most other 3D tech since.  Famicom 3D, Master System 3D, Laseractive 3D, Virtual Boy, and Vectrex 3D should be in everyone's house!

I preordered Playstation VR when it was announced, as I don't have a gaming computer so it was the least cost prohibitive solution.

I had played an early PS VR demo last September where you are in a cabin tied to a chair and it was a murder simulator.  The graphics aren't quite there yet, taking away some immersion, otherwise I was instantly hooked.  I fully believe 3D isn't just the future of video games, but of all media.

Now someone just needs to make Brainscan, so I can live my VR fantasy of being Eddie Furlong.

Brainscan!

I remember that movie..... Ha!

I should say: "I have extremely vague memories of the film."

But I thought it was fun.

I recommend that you keep the movie as a memory, a rewatch a few years ago made me realize it kinda sucks.  Plus the girl is the movie is fairly busted and my puberty fueled younger self thought she was smoking hot.

Can't wait to watch it again soon.

Haven't gotten a chance to try VR, and honestly I don't really care to. It might be fun for a few games, but aside from that it just looks like a really overpriced way to get motion sick. Still, I think the technology has potential and I'd like to see what comes of it in a few years when (if) it becomes more mainstream and cheaper.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the obvious use for VR. Like a certain type of movie? Right? Know what I'm sayin?

I have never tried a flesh light or similar sexual toys for guys because I am afraid the inside would become caked with my cum and I don't want to repeatedly fuck my own cum or meticulously clean it either.

Otherwise, what the hell...  I'm game.

With my luck, the manufacturer of any VR Sex Suit I try will be forced to recall the product—but only after my left testicle had become inextricably stuck in some gears.

I still think this whole VR thing is in its infancy.  I'm sitting this one out.  It won't be till Occulus Rift 2 or Vive 2 when things get remotely interesting for me.  Look at the first iPad that came out and compare it to the iPad 2.  Night and day difference.

As for the whole sex thing.....I just went the traditional more expensive route:  I got married.

At my work we just purchased the Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive to R & D.  We are implementing it into our simulation/game work.  This is going to be fun to work with, and will be nice that my job is going to keep me current in my field rather than holding me further behind.  It will finally be nice to work with Unity again rather than the simulation engine we've been working with.

Unity is so much fun and liberating after working with almost any other toolset - lucky!!

Sounds cool. My only experience with VR was at my old university in the late 90's when visiting promoters had set up a booth of a game with the whole shebang, i.e. head set and designated platform area you play in to trap all your movements and what not, etc. Still remember it, pretty cool experience, but only got to play it twice, it was some first-person shooter game.

I had a few friends over last night and showed them the PS VR, they were all impressed.  There are definitely limitations with current technology, but this is the first time VR is not a novelty and allows for legit gaming.

This.   I played with an Oculus once or twice.  It was all corny.
Same with the HTCdoodlefuck.

PSVR, since it was designed to be used specifically on a game machine, seems to just work nicer.

I am annoyed that the launch bundles sold out left and right despite them being "in stock".   You add to cart, it goes OH JK, its gone.lololol.   Adding it to the cart should hold it while you are completing your clicking, but I guess that's a lost concept for Amazon, WalMart, Best Buy, Target, and even Gamestop.

It's OK though, because I ended up getting my own launch bundle in the form of going and buying used move controllers and a camera.   Ends up being the same price, since move controllers are fucking worthless and nobody wants them.

People are flipping the launch bundles for like 700$.

If you go buy each item individually (none of them are hard to find), it totals 560$ instead of 500$.

So, everyone buying the bundle for 700$ is a fucking simpleton and shouldn't be allowed outside.

Anyway, the VR effect is pretty good.  It's unfortunate that the space I play games in was more setup for sitting as opposed to flailing, but it still works.  I may need to back my couch up.

This headset also fits and functions nicer than the Oculus.

I bought my bundle from Gamestop and they charged $32 shipping, so then when I happened to score one from Best Buy instead with free release day shipping I was very happy...

...then I got two in the mail, apparently I forgot to cancel Gamestop.  I returned it to the store that day and they gave me a hard time for no reason and I still lost out on $32 for shipping...  bastards.

You play Batman yet?  I really enjoyed that and London Heist.  Kitchen demo is a hit for showing off the system to friends.  RIGS has been fun and seems to be a game with some legs, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to have sold well because even 3 vs 3 games don't always fill up.

I have Thumper and Until Dawn still to play, lots of content out already.

Arkhan Asylum

I was initially going to pass on the PSVR til after Xmas.

At work, my coworker that basically just Amazon's everything new and electronic said he got his and it was fun.  As did another coworker who played it, and is a bit picky.  So I figured, shit now I want one if they said it's good.

Everywhere seemed like OMFG IMPOSSIBLE TO BUY.   Target, BestBuy, and all those places were basically picked completely clean.    People at my work were stressing out.

The launch bundles were sold out online everywhere, too.  Amazon was getting more next week.   People were frantically running around about it.  I tried buying one and Amazon said my payment was declined because the item was out of stock now.   Worst cart system of all time.  It let me get all the way to the end before tarding out.

Anyway, I made this offhanded remark at work like "oh I bet I can just walk into Walmart in Parma and get one.  My city is all old polacks".   Everyone laughed at me.

I walked into a Wal Mart to buy some candy and coke for D&D, and walked past the games and went "uh... thats a PSVR...guess I was right"

so I bought it.

Got home, realized the fucking dickheads didn't include the REQUIRED CAMERA, so I was like "OH this is the real point of the stupid bundle everyone is spazzing about.".   You essentially get the camera free with the bundle.

But, I did the math.  After I realized you really only save 60$ with the bundle, I wasn't as annoyed at all the websites saying "in stock just kidding fuck yourself".

That packin game doesn't look like I give alot of shits about it anyways, and I am sure it will become a worthless used game in no time, so I will pay even less than the bundle simply by waiting, and end up with the same items.   If the bundle came with Eve or something, I'd be mad.

Anyway, I didn't play Batman.  I almost got it, but was trying to sort out the bundle-mess before buying Move-Required games.

I didn't realize Moves were so worthless.   10$ or less, used.  lol.    The used shops by me had like, a bucket of them.  I just grabbed two and went K bye.

"DO YOU WANT TO BUY CHARGING STATION OR USB CORDS".     Bitch please, mini usb cables are universal and I have 600 of them.     I am using my PS3 as a charging station right now.

Game wise, I am mostly concerned with Rez, Thumper, Eve, the Miku stuff, and Batman.

That's enough to warrant buying the thing.   There's enough games on day 1 to take advantage of it and amuse me.

I can safely say this may be the best "launch thing" library since Dreamcast.

That stupid little robot rescue platformer and accompanying UFO catcher machine game are stupid and fun.

The funniest thing to me is when it shows camera views of yourself, and it says MAKE SURE THE AREA IS CLEAR OF STUFF.

It's just me sitting on a couch slouched over with a controller.    It is pretty funny.

I want one of these, I think mainly for RE7 when it comes out.  PS4 will probably be my next console purchase somewhere down the line.

Arkhan Asylum

I've been happy with PS4 in general because I play weird things instead of the mainstream onslaught of trashy shooters, so it's been a worthwhile thing to own.

Exclusive Shadow of the Beast remake too, because fuckin yeah.
