Combine Forums?

I've been wondering for a while why we actually need separate forums for TG-16 and PC Engine? The two are pretty much inseperable and conversation crosses the formats freely on these.

Would it not be better to have

PC-Engine / Turbografx-16 / Supergrafx Discussion
PC-Engine / Turbografx-16 / Supergrafx Sales and Trades

as combined forums? You could lock one set, maybe move active topics to the other forums.

Also, how about a 'Technical Help' forum.

I agree with this.

And get rid of the PC-FX forums as well. Or at least put them on the bottom or require a secret password to see them. PC-FX can never compare to the TurboGrafx and PC Engine.

That's going a little too far, but I would put them underneath the PCE forums at least.

This site has more of a PC-FX focus, so that wouldn't make sense

Personally, I am fine with the forums as is. I pretty much only check the PC Engine and TurboGrafx-16 discussions.

Agreed.

We end up discussing TG16 on PCE forums and PCE in TG16 threads anyway...

Folks are pretty good about identifying the region of the game they are referring to, so there shouldn't be much confusion.

I have spent the better part of my free time over the past 8+ years to make the PC-FX World site what it is today - literally thousands (if not tens of thousands) of man-hours and money over the years has been spent on the site...

...and you want the PC-FX forums to go away? Good thing I'm an easy going person, or I would find your comment insulting

This I agree with since there has been many topics on repair work. Will probably make a new forum for this over the weekend.

On the topic of the boards, yes I know phpBB sucks ass...Yes, I know I should change the boards. My only other alternative is SMF and I'm currently blocked from implementing that as the tool to migrate user accounts from phpBB to SMF is broken and the support forums are not helping.

It was a joke! Surely the "require a secret password" comment tipped you off?

But I do think that the PC-FX cannot compete with the Turbo/PC Engine in terms of the number of people who will post about it.

I don't think the FX forums should be totally scrapped; just overhauled and devoted solely to SMS...

Don't worry, Joe seams to spout off Xtreme, over-the-top statements just to get a rise out of people. Just don't get him going on "MEGA POWER"

It is amusing how all us Turbo/PCE gamers have taken refuge on a PC-FX site.

Looking forward to the fix-it forum!

It sure didn't sound like a joke, but thanks for clearing it up.

I agree that the PC-FX cannot "compete" with the Turbo related forums in terms of posts, but that is not the point of these forums. The point of these forums is to offer the entire NEC console community a place to talk about the consoles - and that includes not only the Turbo/PCE but the PC-FX as well.
