PC-Engine DEATH, can it be repaired???

Hoi,

i think my brother has connected my pc-engine to a wrong powersuply. i know the power suply must be + in the center. he connectred a powersuply with - in the center.

Now the pc-engine duo-r doesn't give any sign of live.

What needs to be replaced to let it work again ???

The fuse in the pc-engine is still OK.

hmmm I think the fuse in your DUO-R must be blown...


I had a similar problem with the white pc engine when I accidientally mixed the + with the -  on the power supply but I was able to change the fuse inside.. although its a bit tricky since the 1 amp fuse needs to be soldered on.. as long as you remove that funky heat sink..

I would suspect anyone who blows up their DUO-R with the wrong polarity might have to change a fuse inside that looks similar to the above..

The voltage regulator can easily get damaged in this case. Try replacing it.

I've used the wrong polarity on my Duo a few times (switchable plug tip), but never blew a fuse. If the fuse it good, I'd check that huge diode.
