Are you talking about the PCE version?  I haven't picked it up yet, but you should be able to follow a faq for the SNES version.  Here's an excerpt concerning warp magic from gamefaqs:

If I understand correctly, this PSP Brandish, is a remake of the original(IE: the Turbo & SNES Brandish 1).
