Hey all! It's been a while since I have posted, so it's good to be back.

I am receiving a PC Engine converter soon, and since I paid a pretty penny for it, I am wondering what are the best cheap PC Engine Hu Cards? Even though it isn't inexpensive I am definitely going to get Ninja Gaiden next pay period. But, I would like to get something to play in the meantime. Any help, friends? Thanks!

jperryss

Download ($10 or less) is a fun shooter. Great engrish also.

Ha! Thanks :)

No. Nothing like it, except they both feature the same main character.

Is it a traditional platformer? (pant, pant) :)

Yep, with lots of hunting around for hidden goodies.  Check it out at The Brothers Duomazov.

Sweet!! Sounds like my kind of game. :)

The guy who mentioned download is smart. Also fun and cheap...

New Zeland Story
Dragon Egg
Circus Lido
Lengedary Axe, also in eng.
Shockman, also in eng, jp version is Shubibinman
Adventure Island (this is actually dragons curse on the tg16)
Bikkuriman World... I think. This is a arcade port of wonder boy in monster land.

And even though this is a CD game. I always recommend Dynastic Hero since the eng version is near extinct. Some of the best gaming goodness on the turbo. One of my fav's of all time.

Thanks for the list. I already own Legendary Axe on the Turbo, and since Dynastic Hero is ungodly expensive I went ahead and downloaded it for Virtual Console. However, Dragon's Egg looks like a winner :) Also, I just found a copy of Download and can't wait for it to get here!!

Dragon Egg is a winner. Only complaint is it may be a little too easy. Circus Lido is a winner also, if you like obscure puzzle games.

You know, I just happened to be looking at this game on the PC Engine Bible today. It's a platformer...and I love me some good 'ole platformin.'

Also, Mr. Tatsujin, I will always take serious consideration for any opinions you have on anything PC Engine. :) You directed me last year to my very first PCE purchase in the form of Spriggan. I will never forget that, my friend.

Just made a deal on Genji Tsuushin Agedama. And, Son Son II is in my near future. Thanks guys for all your suggestions. :)

Not sure about prices these days, but I believe these are cheap:

Winner is you:
GOMOLA SPEED (I love it, one of the most underappreciated games)

If you are like me (these games are not universally appreciated):
CYBERCORE (Sounds like you enjoy shoot-em-ups, this is a decent one--not spectacular--but I love the music and, and, I love the bugs. Sure, it could be a better game, but it's cheap!)
SPACE INVADERS (I like the "updated" version on this... of course, it you are sick of/not interested in Space Invaders, steer clear)

Beware of what the masses say:
RASTAN SAGA II (It truly is a crappy game, but, if you are like me, it might burrow its way into your heart. Like a parasite, I suppose. Give it a chance, there is some good masochism in this game.)
ROCK-ON (Another game--horizontal R-type-esque shooter--that is condemned for being a steaming pile of garbage. However, I found it somewhat addictive...I kept wanting to "get a bit farther, next time" and playing it and playing it.)

Thanks esteban. Didn't know about some of these PCE titles. However, I am very familiar with Rastan Saga II, and it's a stinker IMO.

Yes, it is a stinker. Truly. But my love affair with Rastan Saga II began a mere 4 years ago, and I haven't regretted it.

Play the great games first. Then give Rastan Saga II a second (and third) chance.

I will give it some thought

As long as I can get my freakin' Mirai converter to work, I will dive deeper into the PCE Hu Card library. That thing( or the game I am trying it on) is making my hairline recede!!!!!!

Oh well, I played the NES version to death when I was younger, and after seeing Chris Bucci's review of the PCE version I just had to get it.

Mathius

I thought I would bump this thread I made earlier this year for some of the new guys to read through. It's very helpful for people just starting out buying and playing PC Engine titles.

I still haven't bought Son Son II, but I will...oh, I will!
