Actually a pretty sweet game.  I picked it up with TZD's BOGO promotion and am really impressed by how clever this game is.  I made it through 7 of the 12 stages, and though there really isn't much - ok ANY variety, I still think it's a really clever title.

Anyone else?

Oh yes, it's definitely an unique game! I don't know what you mean by the game not having any variety, because I find the game to have both a good variety of items and a good variety of different layouts and puzzles for the levels. One of the most clever games out there, but it's something that can't really be played often, at least for me.

A while back we had an "Underappreciated" thread:

Somer Assault -- awesome puzzle - action - shooter hybrid. We need more games like this!
Why it fails to attract fans: Again, this trangresses a few genres and turns most folks off. BUT it is really a perfect balance of puzzle-solving, shooting, and "platforming" (you need good reflexes and timing to do what you need to do).

Personally, I love this game.  I am probably in the minority, but I wish there was a sequel to this game, or at least some bonus levels to unlock.

I think they should have kept its original name when it left Japan...Somer Assault is such a stupid name. Mesopotamia is much cooler.

I love the Mesopotamia name as well, but I like the Somer Assault name as well!

I think Somer Assault is an ok name.  It captures the whole Zodiac theme and makes a bad pun in the process.

The only problem is that the game is too easy with the HUGE bonus it gives you on your birthday level.  I beat the game on my first try back when it came out and that was super annoying because it cost me freakin $40 (and $40 was big money to me back then).  The little bonus shooter kept me busy for like 5 minutes, but it was way too basic to be any fun.

It's a little easy, but there are a very decent amount of levels in the game to take up time, so it's not a game that's going to be beaten in a few minutes.
