i ordered a 6 button arcade stick from japan. on the top of the controller it has 6 turbo selector switches with three positions each. the top position is marked "H" the middle position is marked "T" and the bottom turbo switch mode is marked "off"

I got this from someone reputable in japan that said it works and was tested and I should double check the slide switches at the top. I dont know how to set the switches. It seems like no matter what configuration the turbo switches are in the game character is completly spazzing out on his own. The games I have that require 2 buttons (attack and jump) so I assume I would put the other four buttons I dont use in the "off" position. what am I missing?

It's one of those controllers that has adapters to plug into a few other types of systems, so maybe it is glitched and it works on other consoles without errors. Maybe it was also tested that way. I have the manual but it is in japanese and is only one page. Any input would help. Thanks

You have to switch from 6 button mode to 2 button mode, as for Avenue Pad 6 pads, if you want to play games that only require 2 buttons.

Is this the one?

No it's this one. see link below.

I tried a lot of different combinations with the turbo switches. And I trust the seller when he said it works. Everytime I move a different turbo switch up or down the game character goes nuts in different way each time. I cant figure it out. Im sure Im missing something simple. how do I switch it to 2 button mode? I already put the buttons Im not using on "off" mode and it didn't help. Any advice?

can anyone translate the bottom two lines where i drew a couple red arrows?  It seems like something important that applies to PC-engine...maybe?

shubibiman

You should hold select while turning on your PCE to switch to the 2 button mode. That's definitely something noone would guess.

Nice! those look like cool sticks. Are you still going to try and build one too? Playing with real arcade hardware is a really neat experience.

GameFreak

yes! i am thinking of hooking sanwa buttons and joystick up to this generic arcade stick, so I have 6 buttons, turbo, and slow motion with modern quality controls. It is a must!  :P

Good luck, post some pics! I recommend getting the screw on buttons rather then the snap ins for projects

GameFreak

Yes I was already thinking about that as my choice. They seem like they will fit more snug in a custom setup compared to snap-in version. If I ever get around to it, though it might be a week or two, I will post it here https://www.pcengine-fx.com/forums/index.php?topic=9872.0
Thanks for input!  :D

I know but when you buy used stuff, you don't always get the manual. Moreover, I almost never read manuals :p And what about people who can't read japanese?
