2/13/2025: Localization News - Cosmic Fantasy 3-4!

Rather earth-shattering news in the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 community: Cosmic Fantasy 3 & 4 has been officially localized to English by Edia 30 years later for the Switch! Hard to believe! I know their script quality is poor given the 1&2 port but still good to see.

Standard press review copy.  Should be identical to the normal game.

CPTRAVE

Yeah I was wondering about the same item earlier.

rag-time4

Very cool item!

I have something like this with a not-for-resale copy of Red Dead Redemption for 360.

geise

 What a waste of money.  More power to the collectors.

RegalSin

well that is news to me. A release of Castlevania, that was in the hands of magazine writers and programers of the time.

It might be that the huge golem in stage 1 act 2 in this version looks very different to the final version.

Quote from: esteban on 09/23/2012, 01:40 AMThere is a perverted Japanese businessman in every Swiss PCE fan.

CPTRAVE

How can you tell if it is a bootleg? But you may be correct. :-k

termis

It is a bit suspicious...

Never heard of a hibaihin version for Drac X -> guy has multiples -> they look really new -> From HK -> nothing coming up under a quick yahoo jp seach under "悪魔城 非売品"...

I'd put money up that it's a bootleg.

Mind you, if it's a good deal enough for a clean copy, I'd pay for it, but $175+?!? Pfftt.... suckers.

SamIAm

Googling the Japanese terms is not turning up anything. My money's on it being a bootleg as well.

CrackTiger

So Drac X finally got a bootleg? Now that it's not worth bootlegging, making it an unheard of promo is a clever way to steal money from noob/133t collectors. :P

They'd be more successful with a "not for resale" or "25th Anniversary" edition of Sapphire.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

Mathius

Well, it does state that it is in 90% new condition. That right there sells it for me.

esteban

Call me crazy, but I like the good old days when I could IMMEDIATELY identify a pirated item. IMG

MottZilla

If it is a bootleg, atleast they were nice enough or dumb enough to make it not identical to the real thing right? I suppose we'll find out if they are bootlegs because they will probably magically find a few more to sell.

i just found the listing, and its not a bad price

MottZilla

What do you mean? It's an auction. And it's ebay. No one bids until the last half second of the auction.

RegalSin

You see the problem with this, is the last person did not want to pay, basically.

Nazi NecroPhile

It's gotta be a booty.  Not just because he has multiple copies and they look too new, but also because it has full packaging like a retail release.

MottZilla

Well someone keep a count. If someone is making bootlegs of it, we are bound to eventually see alot of them.

RegalSin

Well I brought the last, one. When it comes I will tell you. What makes me skeptical, is the disc tray. You can see the "Compact Disc" logo type, is not upside down as with a regular PCE cd, it is the other way around.
Another thing is the preview images, in comparison to my Castlevania game, they look a tad bit wider, but that might be due to the image display?

Also while the extra type, fits in just fine, are their any other PCE games out their, that have such wordings? Eitherway it is another Castlevania to collect.

Also at the edge, the insert, looks like a snug fit. The markings match my Castlevania, but it still looks differnt.

I know what you are thinking, It would be pretty easy for a Chinese person to get the tools, and get them cheap ( because chinese will bargain down, and they are proud of it ), but I brought two other games from the same seller, and they seem pretty normal.

These might actually be what the seller, says. Demo discs, that was sent out to stores to promote the gameplay, because Konomi is famous, for this in terms of Kojima, pilot discs.
IMGIMG

thesteve

could be
i know when i got street fighter2 CE i grabbed it quick, cause it was cheap.
the seller immediately relisted it.
startled by the relist i checked his closed listings and feedback, and it all looked good (except for several more SF2 CE)

the game arrived mint except for no jewel case (all inserts, book, spine card included)

I can see differences, but then he has the catch-all of it being a "not for resale promo disc".  I can think of a couple of other ways to prove it though... we have some printers on here, right?  Every printer has an almost invisible watermark detailing things like the make, model and serial number of the printer.  All we need to do is find out what equipment printed that manual, and how old it is.

*edit* oh, apparantly it has the time and date too.  Regal, fancy a spot of code breaking?  You'll need a blue light and a magnifying glass: http://lwn.net/Articles/156319/

The bottom seems to be some kind of numeric notation, representing a series of numbers or something? It sure is Mysterious.

I dunno IMG

Okay, you know what, this disc is bootleg, and the booklet is bootlegged, and I do not need any printing method to see that it is bootlegged.

1. Something that occured to me, in the image of the current item, the Disc logo is turned upside down. You can see it on the listing right now.

2. I just decide to play the game, some of the images are garbled, and garbled images comes from incorrect writing method, like from a CDR, usually. Most of the times, I do not see that, and the only time I saw that was from a disc in a magazine.

4. There is some blueish print on the back cover, you can see an indent of some sort, but it is part of the printing itself, not a mistake.

5. I put the cd in my computer, to find out the manifacturing information.
The manifacturer is called Princo. 1999 PRINCO Japan Service Center is formed to launch the company's  Japanese marketing campaign. 1991 CD Mastering begins to supply stampers for CD production.  Construction for a new factory begins. Why would Konomi, use a non-Japanese printer during the 1993, before release??.

I put my Linda 3 ( which I got from the same seller, and Castlevania X into the drive, and of course, the CD manifacturer is undentifible, because Konami, or whoever probably ordered a bunch of discs that in no way uses this identification technology.

6. The CD case is brand new, and does not match any PCE case. The case is even whiter then my Castlevania X game. I am just thinking, maybe the CD-case was replaced.

7.The plastic inner area, has no numbers, but on the clear plastic,
where I handle, I see the words JP94161084831442. ( something like that
).

8. The inside of the instructional booklet does not even have the extra print on the outside????

.............................................................................

I can't look at the print, because it is to
o dark, but the book print is most likely photoshopped print because the fine words on the booklet is blurry then my original. The computer image does no justice all.

I honestly think the seller, just has those in stocks and it is not their fault at all. I will put images up later.

..........
Pictures will be up, sorry pictures are blurry, used cell phone camera. but you can see details, of what I am talking about.

The only difference, one enemy, had a death animation that was slightly differnt????, and that is the only difference I see. I have to go back and play.

I am going to send the game back tommorow, unless somebody here. wants it for $140 free ship.

I thought there were boots of drac x way before these ones surfaced? But it didn't get the same attention as sapphire. Anyway I can only assume they make them not for resale discs to up the value/selling price, its not like dracula x was all that expensive, at least compared to some other turbo / pce games out there
