Is it possible to play music directly from CD games?

Nevermind. It is windows and or the music player getting in the way. I'll give it a shot in my car.

You can play the redbook music in any music cd player (make sure you skip the data track), but not any chiptunes of course.

Dont use Windows to play it.  Use WinAmp, or another player like it.  Also, you can play it in your Xbox 360 if you have one.  I believe MusicMatch will play the tracks as well.

Winamp didn't work, but VLC (as suggested in another post) did the trick. I'll give it a shot on the X360 just for fun.

I play my PCE CD's in my PCE all the time. The Data track will usually, stop after awhile or continue playing, for the duration of the recording. However I only play it in my PCE.

Just do not load the disc into a non-pce machine, for the love of gosh........ I mean seriously, one time I inserted a game disc into my computer and the disc cracked after awhile. Also regular CD players might be dirty from the pop music being played.

I agree, I wouldn't place an original disc inside anything but a PCE. I was experimenting with some backups. VLC works, the X360 only sees the first track.

I've played the game discs in my cars' CD player before in the past, but since then I've used EAC to rip the red book audio and converted the tracks to mp3.  You should be able to play them in any standard audio CD player though.  Just skip track 2 (unless you enjoy listening to high-pitched buzzing sounds).

Regal, your post gave me a good chuckle. :)

I've been playing the music of Turbo/PCE CD games in everything but a PCE for twenty years. Windows Media Player used to work for playing, but not ripping. Just don't play track 2 or instead test a disc at low volume if you want to make sure that it's not an unusual disc which has data in other spots. All of my twenty year old games still play tine and I am not that gentle with them.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

One of the best thing with CD, SCD, ACD games is
that they already come as a complete OST!

Buy one, get two.
