12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

More than likely a mock up.

Now that i'm thinking about it i would drop 200 on this.
I really like video games...

Of course it is. I'm just wondering why a system designed to play Neo games would have a widescreen when there are zero widescreen Neo games.

The answer, most likely, is that this "system" already exists and they are just going to sell a Neo branded version of it...which brings up the ugly possibility of unfixable distorted graphics...

...I really hope they don't fuck this up...

How come neo geo never came out with any fighting games?

What do they do when they put out the collections on PSP or have downloads?  If they put up the borders, that is fine.

BigusSchmuck

I dunno if I would drop $200 for a system that has pretty much nothing but fighting games and sports games. If we ever saw Samurai Showdown RPG translated into english and released into the U.S then maybe. As it stands right now, $200 can go to getting a Super Grafx or possibly towards a Wii U.

It's a super Niche Xmas item.

Tell you what though, if the little machine can be modded, it could be a really cool portable emulator WITH a docking station and full size Neo stick. That is, if the sticks are full sized.

Their site got updated recently. I'm enough of a fanboy to consider getting one, but like you said, there are other gaming "priorities"

They run in 4:3 on the VC and PSN. There might be some "for idiots" mode where you can stretch the screen or add art in the pillow bars. I don't have any of the PSP stuff.

The question though is why to they even have a 16:9 screen if all games are 4:3?

The docking station and joystick are nice but I think their purpose is to distract you from the fact that this is a basic handheld emulator, not worth the asking price.

I admit that the styling looks nice, but there are many similar products on the market which emulate multiple systems, have TV out and can be used via external controllers through USB OTG or Bluetooth etc - and they cost half the price. Not to mention all the Android based handhelds with WiFi, internet, email access etc.

$200 isn't an insanely bad price, but it's a lot of money for very little functionality.

Sports games wtf the neo-geo only has a few and not that many to begin with.Yes it does have a lot of fighters but that's 'what the system is know for.Beside it having puzzle, platformers and shoot'em ups etc.Still i all ready have a neo-geo so i don't see to much of a reason to own the neo-geo x.If i wanted it to have it on the go i just have my psp hacked.

The difference being that this thing is legal.  Your argument makes as much sense (i.e. none) as saying compilation discs or VC are a ripoff because you can download the games for free.

Buddy, will you just relax?  One dumb joke and im a troll now?  I've read some of your other posts so i know you aren't THAT dumb with an accusation like that.
For christ sakes, did a neo geo save your life at one point?  Did you give birth to one?  Not sure why you are so compelled to defend it so much.  Game forums allow differing opinions, no need to get so offended.

I'm equally uncertain why you feel the need to keep bitching about how much the NeoGeo sucks.  It's called thread crapping and serves no purpose other than to piss off others (a.k.a. trolling).

Six?? No way. At least three of them hit their mark.

As for your second point, i never intended to piss anyone off. Maybe my original response was taken out of context.  Either way, no need to equate me with a serial rapist or anything.  Cut a brother some slack.  I have no interest in just plodding around and dumping crap in threads.  And i dont think i have built the reputation of doing so up to this point.  Guess what, i dont agree with every post i read around here, but you dont see me starting shit do you?.

I dont feel the need to opine on every topic to gain clout or a majestic post count.

I like the idea of the "Ninja Masters Bonus". Not because its a great game (it isn't, really) but because that is the first conformation that you can officially add games to this thing.

I wonder if the sticks will be wired the same as regular AES sticks. That sure would be convenient. Its also somewhat likely since AES sticks are the cheapest way to make a stick (ie: no internal semiconductors).

Looking at the comments on that site (which I should never do) its obvious we live in a world beyond anyone placing any value at all on software. People saying its a poor deal compared to a tablet, etc prove nobody knows what a fucking joystick is anymore either.

My only question: what will it actually look like on that off-the-rack screen? I'm going to pissed as hell if I buy it and find it only plays in stretched mode. Super pissed.
IMG

Mishran

The controller ports on the Station looks like USB ports to me, if the pics they have are the official final design. If the sizes of the objects in the pics have any word, the station is going to be smaller than the stick. I'm still on the fence about it, but does look tempting. Who is the say how long official support will last for this. What will be the prices for the game cards? Can we expect the whole line of Neo games to be released for it?  have too many questions and they have not enough answers. I think I'll wait.

Nando

Quote from: Mishran on 09/17/2012, 08:33 AMCan we expect the whole line of Neo games to be released for it?
From what I understand the SNK Playmore service, the same that provides the PS3 with games will be tied in to this Neo Unit, so who knows we may just see some cool games re-re-released. The consoles becomes more attractive if that is indeed the case.

TheClash603

I wish it was announced if you could use your old Neo Geo AES controllers on the home unit.  I have two of them and wouldn't want to preorder another controller if I don't need to.  I am assuming that Gamestop isn't going to have a stack of these thing either, so I imagine preorder is the only way to ensure the controller, if needed.

SignOfZeta

Well, I can always use a backup stick. If they are USB, that's even better since it will work on Windows/Mac/PS3. The only down side would be if it were anything else, ie: proprietary.
IMG

Mishran

Depending on popularity and how well it sells overall, we might see some homemade adapters for this to allow an AES controller to be used on it, if native connectivity isn't possible... which I'm assuming not.

PikachuWarrior

so this portable is going to have games released on cards (like nintendo ds)?
IMG

SignOfZeta

I was assuming the "Ninja Masters Card" was just a piece of plastic with a download card on it. I really don't know though.
IMG

PikachuWarrior

I was thinking the same thing, like a DLC card that has the redemption code hidden by pulling the tab or something.
IMG

GohanX

The picture looks like a SD card with the write protect switch removed.

Then again, almost all of the NGX promo pictures are photoshop jobs, so who knows.

Mishran

If they go the card route and do one game per card... Shit, N-Gage all over again! ](*,)

it doesn't look like the system has any type of wifi on it; my guess is that you buy your games online via SNKPlaymore service, download your stuff to the SD card and voila!  Maybe...

Or...you know, Neo Geo all over again. Or DS, or Vita, or whatever. This isn't a phone, btw, did you just assume it was?
IMG

PikachuWarrior

I think he's talking about the fact that the N-Gage failed as a portable gaming device first, and a phone second.
IMG

chany60126

I think the Neo Geo X is a neat looking device. I probably don't see myself getting one of these as I already have a home console and a good chunk of those games. I have to wonder how successful this release will be considering the fact that Neo-Geo games are readily available on various complation discs and for download.

I think its pretty neat. I dont think the price point is to high for all the things you are getting. There are still some unanswered questions about the product though. The one about the game cards actually having games on them. A list of future games coming out and so on.

OK, that new clip there doesn't mention the biggest question I've had from the begining; is there a 4:3 mode? If this thing only plays stretched there is NO FUCKING WAY I'm buying it. I'm not a Grandma watching the news for fuck's sake.

I can understand why they used a wide LCD, chances are 4:3 ones are rare these days. But if its a "Neo Geo" the thing is designed to emulate then ALL games will have to be stretched to fit it and all games will be warped to fuck.

I'm thinking, probably, that this is just an oversight. The thing is probably in wide mode because the guy playing the system in that video is an idiot. He looks like he's touching a pussy for the first time.

The rest of the hardware looks fantastic, I have to say. No 4:3 mode, if that turns out to be the case, is a deal breaker though. Totally.
IMG

GameFreak

its not 4:3 (on the TV mode), I'll bet my life on it. I'm still getting one though
"stretched" or "cropped" is the question

soop

I think the problem with the price is that blaze has been churning out sub-par Megadrive knock-offs for years now at a price point of roughly £30.  Of course Megadrives are pretty damn cheap to begin with, and there's nothing like this.

I'm willing to bet however, that this will be of similar quality, and people are gonna look at the Megaclones as a comparison.

It looks nice, but there's no way I can afford this right now.

Seems as though a 4:3 screen is availible. Still a better deal than either an AES or MVS for people who've yearned but never had the chance to play SNK games. Add a 2nd controler and hell yeah... the wife and I can get in on some SS2 throwdown!

Looks as though you can expand on the 20 (or 21) games that come with the system, also. Looking good on my part (as I don't own ether home consoles). Again... win-win!
