I recently acquired a Pc-kd863g but it is missing a couple of parts (most noticeably the base and speakers) while I can live without the base on it, the lack of speakers is rather annoying for obvious reasons...

Does anyone (long shot here) have or know of anyone who has an original set? Or were they available with other NEC monitors at the time?
Looking around the web they appear to have been two 2.5W speakers? If anyone has any Info I would appreciate it as I doubt i will be able to find an original set...

Wow man, quite a find! How did you run across this? :D

Apparently Adol has one. I'm not sure how forthcoming with information he'll be though.

What?! I didn't even know this PCE/TV combo existed. What's the screen size? How's the picture quality?

I learned about the existence of the Sharp X1 Twin only last year here on the forum and now this PC-KD863G. Are there even more rare/unusual iterations of the PCE?

I would say, trying to find a set of speakers for the Pc-kd863g is about as difficult as finding a Pc-kd863g itself. Just saying.

anyway, congrats for your aquisition :) were did you get it from?

I found it on ebay. Its seems so few people know about them that it just passed under the radar. It was being sold as not working and I asked the guy what was wrong and he said it never power on since he got it. Power issues are fairly easy to solve especially when you guess (correctly) that he plugged it into a normal 240v wall socket and blew a fuse (he had). One new fuse later and its working fine plugged into a proper step down!

The screen is really rather nice. Couple of screen pics are here.

Its a 15" screen. the most useful info I have found is here http://www.tv-gamekan.com/new_page_200.htm (Google translate needed)

Yea I think that as well thats the problem :S I am probably just going to have to hook on a pair of 2.5w speakers until by some miracle I come by a real set.

Public Service Announcement: For anyone who is too lazy, you can read about PC-KD863G at our favorite on hiatus PCE site! Damn, I wish Kevin would continue posting.

BACK ON TANGENT TO TOPIC: Personally, the PC-KD863G monitor is the most important thing...I wouldn't hesitate to pair it with nice speakers similar to the originals (finding a color/finish to complement the PC-KD863G would be slightly challenging, but certainly not as daunting as trying to acquire original hardware.

If you just want something that will work there are approximately one billion different kinds of speakers that would hook up to that just fine. Approximately 500 million of which are probably superior to the originals.

I know there are lots that will work on it I just want to find the originals if possible.

That article is wrong. The stock Pc-kd863g was actually equipped with the Googlephonic system, which is "the highest number of speakers before infinity." japangamestock sells 'em, but shipping is a b*tch. Hope you have a big house.

Cool find! Post some pics. You might want to hit up Lingjr, he has a lot of hard to find hardware and has sold several similar units in the past. http://www.lingjr.com/

That's really cool that it was set up stock with rgb. I wonder what method of amping it/harnessing it they used?

I can probably open it up and take Pics if they would be useful to you (already had to do this to change the fuse in it)

I had that in my watch list - UK seller, right?  I would totally have gone for it too, had my fuckjob flatmate not put me in the shit with rent.  Glad it went to someone who'd appreciate it though!

Yep. I actually change my max bid about 10 seconds before the auction ended, if I hadn't I would have lost it by £2

Some pics inside would be wonderful - I'm sure the community would love to see NEC's solution to amped RGB. I'm not sure how well I could analyze it myself but definitely, get some decent circuit board pics and I'm sure people here can analyze what's going on.
