12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

How many HuCard games were released in total?

Just a thought that came to mind.  I'm imagining that Hucard games make up a very small fraction of the Engine's library.  A part of me kind of wants to go for a complete Huey collection too.

On a side note, a part of me wishes the hucard format would make a return somehow.  With today's technology, the storage space problem would be practically nonexistant.

From pcedaisakusen: 308 hueys out of a total library of 737, so about 42% are hueys (hardly a small percentage).  :D

I always found it interesting how the US got around twice as many HuCards as CDs, while Japan had around 100 more CDs than HuCards. For people who only collect the games of one region on the other, it's a pretty different experience from each other. A US-only collector's library is probably dominated by HuCards, while a Japanese collection is more likely to be pretty balanced, if not skewed toward CDs.

Opethian

that is too optimistic. the US got like 1/4 as many CD games than Japan. The number of US exclusive games is very minimal...

At least either way, on either the US or JP side of things, there is more then enough quality hu-card titles out there to easily justify owning either a core TG-16 deck or a Coregrafx or white PCE, or a Supergrafx even if you don't care to pay extra for CD game support.

I think there are like 4 US exclusive games. Falcon, Gunboat, Talespin, and R-Type (The one with both games together)?

Bonk 3 CD, Camp California and Beyond Shadowgate I believe are US only as well.

I'd be willing to bet It Came From the Desert and Adams Family are too.

EDIT: which are all CD games, ignore me. :)

Was there a Japanese release of Darkwing Duck?

no, there was not. I think exept Loom, non of the real US developed games were ported to Japan. Only few of the rest of the world (UK, France) were.
