So some of you remember me asking for a couple of sleeves with holes in them?  Thanks to Bernie in providing me some I can now reflect and tell the story of what happened.

So I put together my System Card 2.0 case using Sparky's AWESOME inserts.  I used the white hucard tray with the notches and a holed sleeve for this.

It looked beautiful.

Then I put it away in my TG-16 Case (where I have my TG-16/Turbo Booster Plus).

Well a few days before asking for the sleeves, I went into the case to grab my system card because I wanted to manage my saves on my Duo-R.

Well, when I opened the case, the back of the front insert was grafted and I mean GRAFTED onto my hucard sleeve.  As if the paper MELTED onto the sleeve!  I tried to sort of pull apart and ended up tearing the front insert that Sparky made me and completely ruined the sleeve that I had!

I don't know how the fuck that happened!!!...but I is Sad.   [-(

Was the sleeve cleaned with some sort of solvent that hadn't dried yet?

Nope it was just a normal dry sleeve.  No pictures but just imagine super-gluing a sleeve to paper then trying to pull it apart like a grilled cheese sandwich or a naked girl in the morning!

ive had the same thing happen to me wiith  a sparky sticker and a new credit card style sleeve and also with an original sleeve and a kinkos printed insert

MotherGunner

I am thinking it perhaps has something to do with the compound elements of the paper, ink, and sleeve reacting with each other.  I would be interested in hearing from Sparky to see if he's experience this before as well?

Had a similar experience with one of Sparky's stickers and a generic plastic sleeve.  I had a stack of hucards on top of the sticker and some of the ink stuck to the sleeve, but not nearly as bad as what you have described.

Bernie

Luckily, I have never had that issue.  Sorry to hear about that MG.  Im sure Sparky will provide another tho.  :)

MotherGunner

Thanks Bernie, What I did differently this time is put in a regular TG clipped case to keep a future insert off the sleeve.  I wil order another set from Sparky later on.

I assume the inserts are made with either a dye sup or laser printer.

It's similar to C64s then.

Sometimes, the styrofoam that the fuckers are stored in fuse themselves to the plasticky power cable and disk cables.

It's the sleeves and their jive ass rubber chemical bullshit.

I think heat is involved.

That was what I suspected as well except that I don't live in a very hot area and the stuff was stored at room temperature.  Also,  I kept it with a case that I have a custom rear insert for (that I made myself on photo style paper) and that thing is still going strong!

If the side that stuck to the sleeve was covered in ink, then the ink probably had not cured right. If its made using a home printer, then that is probably why, as that kind of ink needs to sit out and cure, exposed to air for a good month sometimes. You can try getting a sponge brush and adding a coat of Future to the next one, and let it cure/dry in the open air for a few days before sticking it in the case.  Other then that all I can recommend is having it laminated, or makeshift doing so yourself with clear packing tape, applying it carefully and cutting it to fit.

Wow I feel bad... Never had an issue with anything sticking and thanks for pming me.. No wait you did not..

I have them printed professionally and have never had or heard a problem till now. I understand your concern but its paper and ink and I have had mine in cases for a year or so and no issues..I will send you new ones or anyone else that have had a problem.. Just wish you would have contacted me directly as I feel embarrassed as this is news to me. :(

MotherGunner

Awe c'mon Sparks, Nowhere on this thread did I blame you.  If I thought it was something you did I would have.  It's totally cool.  E-hug?

Then why did you not contact me directly?  I would have sent you a dozen of inserts, give the guy that means well a heads up :(.

MotherGunner

Because it was not something you did.  (Like I said).  I feel you don't owe me anything for something that is not explainable.  Fair enough?

Ok Sparks, sorry I can't seem to get my point across and sorry if you took this thread or my comments personally.  Wasn't my intent.  Thanks for the offer to replace it but I'll kindly decline.

You chose to post to everyone about your insert sticking instead of contacting me about the problem.. Do you get me? If I had a problem with something you sold me I would contact you directly.

MotherGunner

Assuming you blamed me of course.  I did not blame you for what happened.  And a better tone from you would prevail here.  I have extended an apology to you.

Yes you did apologies.. But I am asking why you posted this when we could have discussed this with me privately?

MotherGunner

Simple.  I didn't see a need for it since I didn't believe you or your inserts were/are the problem.  If I felt otherwise, consider yourself pm'ed.  Conversely, I am not in the practice of walking on egg shells for anyone.  If by me using "Sparky" hits a sore note with you or if you perceive your name is being tarnished (which many that have spoken up here and also respect you have not drawn such a conclusion or even suggested it) I can't help you with that.  What I can offer are the balls and humility to apologize like a man if I offended you.  Give me some credit, I am not known for fucking people on these forums and give me the benefit of the doubt that SHOULD I have an personal issue with you, I will reach out.  It is my perception you are being way too sensitive about something I view as trivial.  Oh and if that offends you, what can I say Sparky, will another apology come off as patronizing?

If your concern is for your image then...these weird offended posts are doing far more to harm it.

Mothergunner did not intend to out you as a fraud. He was just making an observation. He had no idea you'd be so offended. He and everyone but me think your inserts are fucking awesome.

Now that that's out of the way...

So are these actually made on a web press? It seems like that would be extremely expensive. I'd think setup fees alone would be at least a grand. I haven't worked in that business (thankfully) in at least a decade though so I don't know if there are new ways of doing things for less now or something.

If they're made from a laser printer then...that's why. As Mike said, time would fix this. Maybe a day in the sun.

Ya maybe I am being a sensitive Sally sipping some wine last night. My precious feelings only came into play when I saw this thread,
for me it makes sense to talk to the guy that did them for you directly.

Where the fuck did fraud come from dr. Zeta? I was bit angry and that's me and thats it, so I over reacted and for that my apologies to mothergunner, but I still think he could have started with me first.

There laser outputs.

Emotional stuff aside, it's not your fault Sparky. Ink is going to do its own thing, and you cant control that, the temperature, humidity, etc of the environment the inserts will be used in. The best you can do is to just let the buyer know they may want to let the insert air out after delivery for a couple of days or something before use.

MotherGunner

Sparky, apology accepted.  Much appreciated.

Not nearly as bad as what was described here, but I have had a few Neo MVS shockbox inserts fuse with the clear plastic after sitting for a few years. It doesn't make sense, I printed most of them at the same time. Most of them are perfectly fine, but there are a few that messed up after a while. The prints were done on a professional grade Xerox laser printer.
