Anyone hit up the born of the gods pre releases this past weekend? I went to 1 on Saturday, and another 1 on Sunday. Went with red as my pre release color on Saturday, and i couldn't even play red, because there was no worthwhile cards. So i ran a black/white deck and ended up going 3-1. Sunday i decided to go black, and really liked the deck i built. I even got  a Mogis, god of slaughter. I ended up going 2-2 on Sunday however. There were less people there on Sunday. If i would have won the last game i played, i would have taken 7th place.

Anyway, I'm really liking born of the gods so far. I even have a new deck idea,based on some of new cards, and Master of cruelties. Check it out and tell me what you guys thing.

I played on Saturday and Sunday...went 3-0 and took an intentional draw in round 4 both days for a final record of 3-0-1. Due to tiebreaker points, I took 2nd place on Saturday but took 1st on Sunday. I chose Blue on Saturday and had 2 of the Serpents that can't attack unless you bounce an enchantment (but all  of the enchantments in my deck let me draw a card when they come into play or were bestow creatures) and I kept triggering heroic. I chose Green on Sunday.

So today is the official release of Born Of The Gods. Buying a box today, and i hope i pull at least 1 Mogis,God of Slaughter

Went to the pre release event Friday for born of the gods. Things were going well when it started. Pulled a Mogis, and was 2-0. Then i lost the last game, so didn;t get any prizes. Was pretty upset, because lately i have been getting so close to winning, but just not getting the win.

Today there was a two headed giant sealed event, that me and my twin brother played in. We ended up winning the event going 4-0. Won 16 packs, and this amazing play mat, that we are going to alternate owning each year.

We drafted at my buddy's house yesterday and I went 3-0 to take 1st place. Every deck that I have made has had blue in it for the Serpent that can't attack unless you bounce an enchantment.
He's been my MVP in my undefeated events.

I think that card is a sleeper hit. A lot of people look at it and think its bad because the return of enchantment. But they aren't seeing the bigger picture.

I've only been able to test it out a few times, and so far it has been decent. I have game day tomorrow, so i will have at least 4 rounds to test it out. Ill post up here with the results

i did pretty bad at gp phoenix today. i went 1-3. One of the games i lost i actually killed myself. I had 4 life with a tapped pain seer and a bestowed herald of torment. I lost the 1 from torment on upkeep, then i drew a hero's downfall with the pain seer trigger.

I went 3-1-1 in the 2hg with my brother. Lets home i do better tomorrow in the sealed, or standard event

I first started playing Magic when The Dark came out and have played ever since.

Sold my Arabian Serendib Efreet to Arkhan last year!

I'm only into older cards for the most part. Really wasn't a fan of the card redesign after scourge so I stopped buying new cards. Haven't bought a booster box since Weatherlight.

I've played in a few tourneys. One was quite memorable: a sealed deck tempest block tourney that took place when exodus had just came out. I had a strong enough deck to go all the way, but was eliminated by losing twice to the same player, who had a 1 casting cost, 1 damage poke spell with buyback. I had spell blast but we thought that you had to pay the full buyback cost as well as the casting cost. Was my first time playing with buyback so I had no clue. Later on I read the rules and found out I shouldn't have lost. Now I tend to be a bit of a rules lawyer lol

At my new job a few of the younger guys play with newer stuff, and sometimes we go head to head. Right now I'm dominating them with a black/white shadow deck that also has the land tax / cursed scroll combo and a fair bit of land kill like sinkhole, vindicate, and armageddon.

Depends on what type of decks you run.  I've seen quite a lot more to be excited about than I did in Born of the Gods.  I'm really looking forward to many of these cards.

Won 19 packs at the PreRelease over the weekend. Took 1st place in the 2 Headed Giant team event and the Sunday event and 2nd place on the Saturday event.

Very nice Hobbs. I took 10th place on Saturday's pre release event. There was over 90 players. I won 4 packs from that event. Ended up going 3-1 with a win loss record of 6-2. Went 2-0 first 3 games, lost the 4th game 0-2

On Sunday i got 12th place out of like 60 players. Went 2-1-1. Only lost to the guy that took 3rd. I won 3 packs that day and pulled an Ajani

Banishing Light and Desecration Plague overperformed, while Sightlesss Brawler underperformed.  I didn't pull Ajani until my 5th match, and he was great!

I also pulled a Kiora in the 'flight' which I chose black, so I ended up playing a 3-color BuG deck which didn't do great, partially because the deck played rather slowly, and I got paired up against 2 durdly opponents, whom I could have beat if I had just had more time.

I originally thought White had the best promo but it always seemed underwhelming whenever someone played it against me and I abandoned White altogether when I chose it for my box color in favor of Black/Blue Constellation. I played mono white in the 2 Headed Giant event while my partner played mono blue. We had so much control, it was ridiculous! I always find it funny that the players that pull the big money cards do the worst especially since I always pull the bulk rares I did open 4 of my prize packs (keeping the rest for drafting) and managed to pull 2 of the gods (Iroas and Pharika).

True, true.  That may be what happened with my black deck that splashed blue and green mostly for Kiora.

I will say that one of the funnest deck that I have ever drafted was the one that I drafted on last Friday night before the midnight prerelease - 5-color Chromanticore!  Since the packs were Born/Theros/Theros, when I cracked the first pack and saw Chromanticore staring back at me from the rare slot, I just knew that I had to try and force the deck.  Drafting was a bit different, because I was all about picking bombs, mana fixing, and fog effects (since removal was very scarce and to hold my opponents off until I could drop a bomb).  I don't remember the exact order of my picks, but I do remember some as follows:
