Hello from FL

Hello from FL. I've been hanging in the PCE chat room for a few weeks, and stalking the boards for longer, and I thought it was finally time to say hi. I'm a solitary Owl that only recently discovered the world of OBEY. I've been a console kid for the good majority of my life, and grew up staring at glowing screens. Thanks to some Punkic Cyborg, I've had some time on a PC-FX and now a SuperGrafx. I collect arcade games, mostly candy cabs and PCBs, and pinball games.

I don't plan into becoming a collectard with the recent price gouging that GreedBay has caused, but want to pickup an everdrive and burn CD games, and borrow the rest. Basically I want to learn the systems and play the games, without going bankrupt. I'm not new to forums, and have been on KLOV, SHMUPS, NeoGeo, BYOAC, and the FL Village for a few years now.

Ya know, I was looking at those Sony PVC monitors, but most of them are pretty small.

How is it working out for you?

It's great. I picked it up locally for $25. I'm ordering a bunch of RGB SCART cables tomorrow. I also have an NEC XM29. Love that monitor as well.

Any hoot, here are some pictures of my arcade, and the way I am currently OBEYing.

I missed your intro, but welcome, and wanted to say that's a helluva sexy shot of the SG there in a stream of them found 'round here. I used to see it all the time in GameFan issues glamorized like that, and it certainly made me want it, well, that is until later on when you learned the debacle of how it was orphaned so quick with not more than 5 games or so... Good thing they thought to make it backwards-compatible.

I guess what I consider my debacle purchase is the $200 I spent in the 90's on a Pioneer Laser Disc player and $40 bucks for one movie, one of my favorites, "Total Recall" (don't bother with the shit remake, sucks like Robocop too). I had no idea that LD was dead/dying right at that point, and I only managed to find ONE store left in the heart of downtown Chicago that was still selling LDs (Merchandise Mart), bought that one disc, thus $240 down the tubes... :/
