If you look at most TG-16 CD-rom setups that have the case the one thing that sticks out is that most of them are missing one or both of the latches.  It's not a terribly complex part so I modeled it and had a pair made.  I still need to dye them but they function just fine.

I can have a batch of them made to sell if there is any interest.

Wow that is great! Id be interested!

Yep.  They are small enough that 3D printing is a feasible method to produce them (unlike the game cases).

jordan_hillman

This is amazing! And I would definitely be interested too!

That is very neat, mister!

Shapeways, I presume.
Send me your stl (or a link to it) and I'll send you mine for the game trays :)
(Assuming its ok with arkhan.)

turbokon

That's awesome!! Can you do something similar with the turbo express green power switch and battery cover?

Cool, put me down for a TE battery cover.  I'm sure there are others who need battery cover and the green power switch.

Very nice.  Is that setup 2 pieces (ie, door and tray) or 3 (door, backplate, and inner tray)?
I could never get the holes for the door pins quite right :/

Looks like it's time for you to open a shapeways shop :)

It's exactly like the standard Turbografx style case.  The only problem with using Shapeways for the case is that they are about $110 each.

TheClash603

I need one of these for sure.  Depending on price, I'd buy two because a spare never hurts.

Eesh.

I see. I assume you modeled the door as well, then. I have found that different 'stock' cd cases have slightly different positions for various things, like the half-moon booklet holders...and of course the door pins <sigh>. That's partly why we went with a 3 piece case.

QuoteThe only problem with using Shapeways....
Yes, I know. That's why we don't have the trays available for sale :)
FWIW, We can print them for about $5 in materials; they just take a hellava long time, and the corners tend to warp if you don't watch them closely at the start of printing. I'm hoping to get a bigger bed printer for XMas, and do a rails replacement so it can print faster....
Maybe 2015 will be the year we can replicate everything turbo :)

(Got a design for the controller housing? That's next on my list. I've seen schematics for the electronics/board, and would probably use actual switches rather than those rubber pads.)

SuperPlay

nice piece of work there jelloslug :-)

I did not do the lid.  I can make a model of it but new older (thicker) jewel cases are still readily available for not much money.  I have not modeled the controller case but I can.  Be aware that there are two different controller cases (and boards) though.

I ABSOLUTELY NEED TWO (a set)!

I was so careful, but the damn things broke on me back in the 90's. Anyone with half a brain could have told NEC that the design was too flimsy to be practical, especially for a "rugged" case designed to transport and hold super-expensive gear.

Well it looks like there is enough interest for me to have some made.  It looks like it will take around two weeks to get them.

CrackTiger

I don't currently own a Turbo-CD case, but would love to buy a pair or two. :)
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

blueraven

I still need 4-6 I have 2 broken cases. :D

jelloslug

Here is the clip after I dye it.  The font for "PUSH" is a little thin but overall it's not bad it all and it works just fine.  The new clip is on the left and an original one is on the right.

Put me down for a pair..

jelloslug

I have ordered enough latches for 12 pairs as an initial run.  They will be $20 shipped for the pair (paypal gift preferred) to the US and whatever the shipping difference is for out of the US.  I will contact everyone in order in this thread in order of posting with a PM. After that I will see how many more (if any) and get another run started.  The first ones took about two weeks to get but they could take up to four weeks according to Shapeways.

jelloslug

I have PMed everyone that said they were interested.  If I missed you or you want a pair just post here.

Damn, those look super nice, if I had a case, I'd totally.

Quote from: Nulltard on 06/21/2014, 11:12 PMWill you be doing another run at some point? I want... but 1) don't have a case yet and 2) am too broke due to too many childrens until I win the lotto.
I can have them made at anytime.  Ordering just 2 of them will be a bit more though as the shipping from Shapeways won't be spread out over a big batch.
