I love the Master System, but every time I play it, I can't help but notice how inferior the controller is to the TG or NES.  I was wondering if anyone had any clues on how to mod a NES controller to work with a SMS?  I found one video on youtube regarding it, but I couldn't really make out what he was trying to show.  He also had another video showing how to mod the pause button onto the controller itself, which would be amazing to have since the SMS had the terrible idea of putting that button on the console.

Just kind hoping some modding wizards have better insight into this than I

I use a Genny pad for my SMS gaming...but I have a backup shitty SMS pad for the few games that require it.

I hate the stock SMS controller too. I just use a Genny 6-button pad for my SMS, since it's a great controller that's cheap and easy to find.

Note that there's a small handful of SMS games that will not work with a Genny controller. You can easily fix this by opening up the pad and cutting the start button wire to make it 100% compatible.

For some reason I don't like using the Genesis pads with the SMS, and the ability to mod the pause button onto the controller intrigued me a lot.  I use them in a pinch, but I'm not a huge fan of the D-Pad on it either, I think they are kinda mushy, but obviously not as bad as the SMS.
This is the video that I had watched, it might be clearer to someone that knows about that stuff, but I don't.

What games require the SMS pad? I've not run into any issues using Gen pads.
