I recently changed the format of the main page of my site so that all the videos, mp3's, etc... are in their own sections. So it should be a lot easier to sort out what you'd like to take a look at.

Also, a week or so ago I put up an Aeroblasters mp3 done the same way as the Snatcher medley, but this one has every single track in the game.

Today I put up 4 PC-FX videos. I made them as high quality as I could visually, to try to preserve the quality of the original PC-FX fmv.

There's 2 for Tengai Makyou Kakutoden and one each for Zenki FX and Cutey Honey FX. Since I've got my PC-FX hooked up to my PC, there may be several more to come before my long weekend is over.

I also put these videos on youtube, but they're not nearly as nice visually(but sound a little better).

You check it all out at-

Excellent updates, my friend! I've been visiting your site for quite awhile actually, even back when it only had the logo on it and nothing else! I'm glad to see your site is coming along nicely now and that you have lots of great resource.

Thanks guys. Its nice to know that someone's looking at it.

I've since added my new Shapeshifter map, Ys IV english CD label, EGM 1993 Preview Guide, Gate Of Thunder EGM Gold Award ad, Turbografx-16 pack-in poster and Radio Shack Super CD pamphlet(Canadian exclusive?).

Tonight I put opened a new section on my site called "PC Engine Audio Deathmatch". It features music compilations from Turbo/PCE games along with ports on other systems.

The first round features Devil's Crush TG-16 versus Dragon's Fury Genesis. The DC mix has almost every track from the game mixed together and the DF mix has the exact same tracks in the same order.

You can access it directly here-

wayback.superpcenginegrafx.net/audiodm1.html

As soon as my overdue Air Buster cart shows up, Aeroblasters will also enter the ring.

Quote from: handygrafx on 07/04/2006, 04:25 PMvery excellent CrackTiger - I believe that is the slightly larger EGM article I was looking for, on Ironman. good job man.

I'll eventually have each of those bubbles larger sized on pages for their respective games. The Ironman part will also have its own page with the screenshots thumbnailed to large scans.

Basically, the plan is to put up every single piece of content I have for any given game on an individual page for each title.

I actually had my first game page(which was to be my template) pretty much ready to go, but I kept coming across more and more stuff to include, that it's pretty much going to get its own themed mini-site now. Hopefully with a week or two it'll be ready to go.

I just went and looked over the site for a bit and it is pretty cool; I have bookmarked it. I'm looking forward to the updates.

Oh I'm curious whether the Cutey Honey FX game is based off the original series or Flash. The art style reminds me of Flash more, but I thought I would ask since I'm a Go Nagai fan and tidbits like these intrigue me.

I have the EGM that came with that.  It's not an add but it came from the Summer CES section of the mag.  I think it was in a seperate booklet.  I'll have to whip out my old EGM's to check.  Very cool site BTW!  I like the VS audio stuff and would love to see/hear more of it!

After wasting a month putting together YouTube videos, I finally made some real updates to my site this weekend:

Videos:

The Dracula X: Perfect Boss Fight shows Dracula getting his ass kicked in under 80 seconds by Richter without taking any damage or using any special items/attacks.

The Daimakaimura/Ghould 'N Ghosts video is a complete run through of the first loop of the game plus the first stage again with the Holy Weapon.

The Tengai Makyou The Apocalypse IV video is a compilation of every fmv anime cinema in the game. The high quality 100 meg version will soon be replaced by a lower quality(mainly sound) 48 meg version. So I recommened downloading the big one soon or contacting me if you'd prefer it.

QuoteOh I'm curious whether the Cutey Honey FX game is based off the original series or Flash. The art style reminds me of Flash more, but I thought I would ask since I'm a Go Nagai fan and tidbits like these intrigue me.

It appears to be based off of the Cutey Honey anime from the nineties, with the "honey flash" theme song. But from what I've seen, it has 100% original animation which isn't even close to the quality of the OVA, but is still decent for a video game.

Alright, here's the biggest update ever-

I've finally setup the basic layout I had originally intended. I now consider it a real website, not an under-construction type deal. Although it'll be awhile before I get all the sections created that I want, in the meantime I'm continuing to keep the current ones stocked with new content.

The biggest new thing is the Blue Shadows section, located under Features. Blue Shadows is a collection of ridiculous quotes made by gaming journalists over the years and includes some commentary for those who might not be familiar with some of the subject matter.

The Sapphire Counterfeit Debunker has been updated with scans of a sealed Fatal Fury 2 ACD game which shows where the peel away strip would appear on a legitimate sealed copy of Sapphire.

I've also added two new Turbografx-16 videos. The first features all of Chris Covell's amazing PC Engine/SuperGrafx demos run on a real PC Engine RX & a SuperGrafx. The second is video from the demo Chris Covell's new game Tongue Man Logic, again run on real hardware.

All of Saturn Bomberman's cinemas are included in one video now. All the Tengai Makyou IV videos have been upgraded and there is a new clip of Geisha Robo. The Night Creatures video is now a single higher quality clip.

More content is already up on my webspace, I just need the time to work on the actual pages themselves.

I've got one that just needs to be scanned in where one EGM reviewer declares Ground Zero to be the best game Sega-CD game to date.

Of course by that date, at the very least Final Fight CD, Dark Wizard and Lunar SS would've been released.

"This has got to be the best Sega-CD game I've ever played."

"Overall this is the best Sega-CD game you can probably consider."

When I first came across it the other day, I thought that it must've been an earlier title than I remembered. But now it looks like most of the Sega-CD's best games, aside from that last killer wave, had already come out.

Here's the EGM review-

IMG

I'm going to wait until I can figure out for sure which decent titles preceded it before posting it in the Blue Shadows section.

Also, there'a a Sega-CD ad featuring Ground Zero a few pages after the review which compares playing Sega-CD games to electrocuting yourself through a "wall socket"(complete with 1 full page depicting the face of a kid who'd just been electrocuted).

I'm going to scan it in to add to the Ground Zero quotes as an indication of what EGM Editor In Chief Ed Semrad must've looked like while playing the game.

I was only talking about rushed the port not having "gorgeous 3D graphics".

I wouldn't have played through it as much as I did over a span of a few days if totally hated the game itself. But it was still crippled by bugs.

Maybe I just had a bad copy or something. Or maybe I played it more than most people have and noticed the problems more.

Although I don't remember the specifics, I think I do remember one or two scenes later on being pretty hilarious in some sort of twisted way. Maybe it was the dead kid or turning someone into an animal so it would get accidentally killed or something... it's hard to remember since I literally haven't played it since it first came out.

But it would've been cool if they'd actually worked on giving it the graphics it deserved(as a new fangled Super CD title), an orchestral soundtrack, decent music weaving sfx and more(are there even any?) regular sfx.

Now you've got me tempted to play through it again.  :)

Yeah, I read your post yesterday and I knew that you weren't 100% hatin' LOOM, but pointing out how lame it was that they didn't do a better port.

The TG-CD soundtrack to LOOM delivered a most uninspired, lackluster experience. I didn't need a real orchestra to be happy, but I did need something that was more inspired. Heck, I would have loved a 100% synth soundtrack if it was creative and took some chances. IMO, Top 40 classical music is so overplayed that it *needs* some creative arrangements to complement a game such as LOOM and keep things fresh. Nothing drastic was necessary, but some nuanced little touches would have been great.

By the way, your site is really, really kickin' ass now! :)

Recent updates-

Magical Chase U.S. version(majorly upgraded graphics over the PCE version, special page in the works) videos:

-one low quality unedited video of the game played through on Bumpy difficulty without dying.

-high quality videos of each of the 6 stages.

Night Creatures: a low quality alternate video is now available(still looks good).

PCE Audio Death Match: I had always thought that the SFC SFII would be my first "Here comes a new challenger!" contestant, but instead its the Sega Mark III Afterburner.

I should have the FM soundtracks to Ys and Miracle Warriors up by the end of the weekend.

In the meantime, I haven't been able to find my "classic" GameFan box yet, but once I do, I'll have scans up of the original PSX review, the Saturn review and the Saturn re-review, along with my perception of the whole thing(I think they sound like idiots mainly for a reason different than most people's).

Here are all the recent updates that I can remember:

Videos:

3 promo VHS tape Turbografx-16 videos are now up in both high and low quality.

Music:

Tengai Makyou Fuun Kabuki Den: complete CD soundtrack

Tengai Makyou Fuun Kabuki Den: extended boss musicals

Ys Sega Mark III FM: complete soundtrack

Miracle Warriors/Haja no Fuuin Sega Mark III FM: complete soundtrack

The Kabukiden soundtrack has almost every track edited and it includes all the cinema music tracks without any of the sfx/voice, which were only available on the official soundtrack.

Kabukiden has one of the very best, if not the best soundtrack of all time(seriously) and here's your chance to find out why. TMII doesn't even compare!

The extended bosses' musical numbers exclude for Karuna's(too boring for me) and only "Garp's" is the same as in the game.

If you haven't heard the Sega Mark III's FM music before, Miracle Warriors is probably the best example of it on the system.

Ys isn't as impressive overall FM-wise, but still sounds great and some of the tracks are unbelievable.

Through hardware acceleration I'm pretty sure the Saturn can only do transparencies in 2D backgrounds, and not polygons.

I know what you are saying, "What about the big blue diamond thing in Shining Force III?" Well...I don't know :)

The way that I understand it, is seperate from all kinds of otherprogramming 'tricks', from day one developers could cross-disolve between the 2 main cpu's graphics at 60 fps.

The cool thing about that is it could draw a 3D object that was truly a transparent image, like say a 3D ghost(or big blue crystal guy). But on PSX and every example I can remember off hand on PS2/GC/Xbox, every single polygon had to be rendered transparent, so you wound up seeing through to the other polygons in the back.

The reason it's really cool, is that I can't remember an instance that a 3D object has turned transparent or faded out for any reason than to emulate the effect that the Saturn could do. Of course, if there was a reason to see through to the back side of an object, the Saturn would have to come up with a different way of doing it.

Another thing I've been led to beleive is that the SNES and Playstation have a limited number of shades of opacity for transparencies that dictates how smoothly they can animate an object fading out. But from what I've seen, it appears that the Saturn can fade in and out at 60 fps.

Originally, I went on about the Saturn & PSX & transparencies, but decided that extended commentary like that is better suited to a seperate article.

Because, it doesn't matter what kind of transparencies are in games before or after PDIIZ, the fact of the matter is that the one game he's talking about does have some amazing transperency effects and he didn't say anything like "too bad about the transparencies using mesh effects are as nice as the translucent ones", he actually trashed the system by saying that they're "sadly unavoidable"... -you know, except in all the places in the same game that the developer avoided it.

Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Quote from: guyjinhow could you make a page called 'blue shadows' and not mention the review from which (i presume?) you got that name from?

I've finally got a page up devoted to this, called "Why The Hell Is It Called Blue Shadows Anyway?". It's under the Features section.

Why don't you have the audio recorded for the 32X version of After Burner?  Don't make me do it for you!

I don't have a working 32X right now. I'll get around to doing the Saturn version sometime, but I wish there was a way to get the music out of the SMS/MarkIII game.

The 32X version sounds pretty much the same as the Saturn version except for the high-frequency noise it seems to make (sounds like a CRT powered up, only coming through the speakers).  If I recall, I think.. well, no nevermind.  I should delete that last sentence as well as this one since they ended up being pretty useless, but I am far too lazy and therefore cannot be bothered.

Today I unveiled the new Super PC Engine Art section.

It's a collection of Turbografx-16/PC Engine and general video game artwork I made around the times that each subject was still relatively current. Soon to feature some recently created artwork.

I also added Deden No Kabuki Den to the System Card Warning Warehouse last night and added some new logos.

nice artwork there.  Really like the colouring.

Thanks, the colored pictures were done when I would've been like 15 - 17 years old.  :)

You know I love your site, but PLEASE learn how to spell "definitely".  For some reason this extremely simple word is one of the most oft-misspelled on the internet.  In one of Nick Rox's articles or reviews you quoted, he spelled it correctly, but your quote did not.

Also you fixed Sushi X's "and" and replaced it with "an" (the way it should be, grammatically) but still put "sic" after the "an" and it doesn't make sense like that.

I don't see a Gate of Thunder insert anywhere on the site, though I did make my own awesome 400dpi non-compressed version for myself complete with awesome Johnny Turbo quotes!
