@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

OK I bought some arcade boards over the weekend:

Bad Dudes
Robo cop
Buster Brothers
NBA Jam
Sky Shark
Image Fight
Atari game (non Jamma)
All for $130. Let me know thoughts on these.

I'm planning on building  a Supergun, I do have a vertical display cab that I think I could use for Sky Shark and Image Fight.

Bad Dudes holds a special place because it's typical 80s beat em up. President kidnapped, muscle shirts, tons of ninjas. Lol

Dude thats a sweet little lot! If you get tired of image fight lmk I have lots of PCBs to trade

pulstar

$130 is a good price for that haul. Do you know if they are original or bootleg? I love Image Fight as well, only played on the arcade PCB, never owned it.

A supergun should be pretty easy to put together. I would use a normal arcade PSU if you can find one cheap enough, rather than an ATX just so you can tweak the +5v line when you need to.

Believe they are all original. I'll have to learn more about identifying bootlegs.

I always found a PC PSU has better regulation of voltage over a Happs or "arcade" power supplys plus they have 3.3v. Now if you have the ATX without the -5, I can see your logic...old PSU's with neg 5 are hard to find nowadays. Since that cab looks to be dedicated to the classics, no need to hunt out something with 3.3v(CD-ROM based hardware needs it).

As for the colors, might just need a good degauss...I see the discoloration on the top right. My experience with color calibration is usually on a too far gone tube and "fixing" it with adjusting the bias and gain is a just a stop gap until you find a replacement.

I do have a ATX supply that has the Neg 5 volts.

But I already got an arcade supply (actually got several) units. I just heard those were better because the 5v was adjustable.

And yes I actually got a degaussing tool. It already cleaned it up, but still is a little off. The game needs adjustment on blue, will try that maybe later today.

Looking good Duo.

If someone is a bad enough dude to pull this project that's you.

tatsujin rotates left where gals panic and pacman rotate right

Duo_R

Thanks for heads up, is the US version Truxton the same way Steve?

I'm redoing the wiring, I just noticed that the cab wasn't grounded at the wall plug. They just removed the ground wire. I can't understand why they would do that!!!

I got a wiring dig ram and trying to clean this up. Anyone have experience wiring cabs in case I got questions? It was working but just want this wired up correctly.

Part of the issue is it was centipede cab converted to twin cobra. They did a horrible job with lots of cut wires and twist ties when it should be directly connected. Lol

Most cabs in the UK (Woodies at least) have long runs of cables generally connected by molex plugs/connectors, so it's not unusual to have sections not connected directly...however, it sounds like a dodgy way to do it by simply twisting the wires together. Best to get that sorted as soon as possible.

If it's all working I wouldn't mess with it too much. Just clean up all the dodgy splices with proper solder joints and shrink tube over them. The power cord can be easily replaced if the ground prong is just broken off.

Ops would do the least amount of work to get a cab running in an arcade. Centipede non-JAMMA trackball game conversion to JAMMA with joysticks? Oh yeah, prolly a rats nest in there. I've come across cabs that were so bad, I just 100% gutted the wires and replaced with a new JAMMA harness, and re run all the power. It is a good way to learn plus you know it's no longer a fire hazard.

OK my cabinet is almost ready to swap in some shooters to test out.

Hopefully I can test them out this week.

Ok all boards working except Sky Shark and Image Fight.

Buster Bros turned out to be Crime City, but the game is pretty fun. Bad Dudes with guns!

I'm now trouble shooting the boards that aren't working. I'm also ready to build a supergun now that I know how all this stuff works. ;-)

Image fight is fixed, but the game is actually Dragon Breed even tho the sticker says Image Fight. No complaints since this game looks amazingly epic! Huge sprites, dragons,
