12/23/2024: Localization News - Team Innocent

PC-FX Localization for Team Innocent is released, a pre-Christmas gift!! In a twist, it feels like the NEC PC-FX got more attention in 2024 than any other time I can remember! Caveat: The localizers consider the "v0.9" patch a BETA as it still faces technical hurdles to eventually subtitle the FMV scenes, but they consider it very much playable.

You heard the rumors, you saw the flyers, Turbo Fest is returning to Chicagoland!! The summertime classic is back with more fun and more games to play. Come take part in our exciting 5-player Battle Lode Runner and Bomberman 94 tourney matches. Then try to navigate the treacherous obstacles Dragon Spirit throws your way in this high scoring shooter tournament.

Tournament times are as follows:

Battle Lode Runner: 11 AM
Bomberman 94: 1 PM
Dragon Spirit: 3 PM

The event will take place July 11th at a newer and bigger venue which is the Midwest Conference Center. The address is 401 W. Lake St. in Northlake,IL. Northlake is located a couple of miles west of Chicago. Turbo Fest is part of a retro-gaming convention called the Video Game Summit (VGS). The show, as well as Turbo Fest, will run from 10 AM-6 PM. There will be many people selling retro games and many other tournaments for other consoles as well. Arcades will also be present.

Admission is $10, but the price is well worth the admission. Entrance into our tournaments is 100% free. We would love to meet fellow T-16 enthusiasts such as yourselves.

In comparison to MGC, the VGS is smaller. However, you will find that the gaming area is very spacious and can do a great job accommodating the awesomeness that is Turbo Fest. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Come spend the day with your PCEFX brethren.

Let's keep the good times rolling!

I also want to point out some of the cool things Chicago has to offer in terms of gaming.
First off, Galloping Ghost Arcade is an absolute MUST-SEE. It is technically the second largest arcade in the US, and comprised of mostly retro arcades. It has got some pretty obscure cabinets such as Galaga 88, Street Fighter 1 (Fighting Street), Splatterhouse and many more. Feast your eyes on the amazing cabinet list:

If you're in the mood for buying turbob games, you should check out the stores below. They have a decent selection of T-16 games.

Way to spin it.

Dat D. Spirit tourney...making me want to make the trek, so temping. Good thing I do not have to book my flight until 24 hours before hand.

Not liking the hotel situation...need to figure some transport and roomy.

Oooo I was planning on going to this and CCAG! I really enjoyed the room PCEFX had at MGC so I'm looking forward to this as well :).

Woo! Can't wait for this in the summer. MGC didn't quite work out for me but this should be no problem at all. I don't do much on Sundays, I'll start planning ahead. If you need any systems/controllers/tvs/etc. let me know. I'll be happy to help out in any way that I can.

In the meantime, I'll be practicing Dragon Spirit aplenty in hopes that my high score is somewhat substantial.

chany60126

About a month away or so from the event! Please note the change of address from the prior year.

Bardoly

Bump to remind everyone.

chany60126

Less than two weeks left to go!!

jtucci31

Do you need any extra systems, controllers, everdrives, etc? I'd be willing to help out in any way necessary. Going to put in my request at work tomorrow (this is a written reminder for myself). Can't wait!

If you could bring a Duo and its cables, ED  and controllers it certainly wouldn't hurt.

I sure wish I could make it this year, but it's not in the books.  I hope you guys have a good turnout.

I'll be there bright and early on Saturday morning - helping CDamm work the Windy Gaming booth.

Chany / Dan - we planning to do the same Pizza post-party as always?

Yep, that is the plan. :)

The prizes have arrived for the tournament winners.  Make note of the tournament start times!

You have always scheduled TurbFest when I am in Maine!

Those trophies are awesome. I usually despise trophies...but not these :)

Of course, I would have an incredibly difficult time making it up to TurboFestSouthernCanada, even if I wasn't in a cabin in Maine that week.

Chany was wondering who took his trophies when he was ordering pizza. You can return them to him now. :)

So I was watching a Croooow! video of his from VGS and saw this butthead in the related videos. Skip to the end, you'll wish you picked up that Super Air Zonk instead of this guy. He picked up a few Turbo games so Arkhan watch out for this guy! Maybe strike a deal with him at CCAG

Damn. You were right. This buffoon should not have that game...but I am confused...is he listing what he paid or what he thinks the games sell for?

I try not to be petty (really!), but I have grown to absolutely despise this genre of video.

This particular goofball is annoying, but I suppose he is standard fare for collectards.

I watched the whole video. I kinda loved it and hated it. But if I didn't know there would be a TG-16 payoff*...I guess I would have been bored and stopped it much sooner. All the fun was leading up to the climax*.

* not an accidental choice of terms. I was going to use cumshot, but that seemed vulgar and juvenile. Then again, this video was vulgar.

He's a flipper reseller, esty.  He picked 'em up at VGS and wants to flip 'em at the next game convention for gold pressed latinum.

I find it hard to believe that someone would pay $900 for a video game. It would just be pure collectard at that point. The US HuCard would be the only viable option for this game and honestly over $100 for that is still collectard.

So.. anyone that doesn't have this game and wants it should buy the JP version as it's cheap and it's a shooter so you don't have to read anything.

I hear you and agree. But, we are poor, apparently.

Everything is relative.

If I was rich, I would totally buy all the arcade cabs and games that I was interested in playing or "experiencing" (I would buy crappy games that intrigued me, even if they had a reputation for being broken).

However, I would never buy something simply because of its collectard valuation.

Uh, what?  The HuCard (Air Zonk) is an entirely different (and better) game than Super Air Zonk.

Well I am lucky that I have the US HuCard for this game, so I lucked out as I know I most likely picked it up at a place called Video Game Exchange back in around 1995 for $20 or less. I remember picking up a large portion of what I have for $5 back then. They were loose but who cares they work. I currently have 27 loose HuCards. Someday I will buy the cases and stickers from the forums here for those and maybe the manuals if allowed.

I don't plan on selling so....

The game he bought is actually SUPER Air Zonk. I think the seller was asking 800 but he probably haggled him down a bit on it (same seller who had the Might and Magic III had SAZ). The HuCard game is a different game, this is the sequel.

Ahh, didn't realize it was a sequal. I thought they were the same game just the cd version had cut scenes or something. Maybe more friends to help out etc.
