I am considering on buying a PS4 for some non-obey game time. I imagine my kids (10 and 6) will also be playing. I have seen a lot of stuff on RPG games that seem pretty interesting. But what about for younger players?

Suggestions?
Pros/Cons on the system itself?

My 9 year old son loves obeying, but he spends most of his time on his PS4.  I cannot recommend the LEGO games enough.  Start with LEGO Marvel and LEGO Movie and go from there.  LEGO dimensions is my next stop and so is Jurassic World, along with LEGO Avengers coming out in Dec.

Aside from that, my son also loves his Disney Infinity stuff but that can be an expensive hobby. (As will Dimensions).

Good luck!

Disclaimer: Knack is not a great game. BUT, put it on an easier difficulty and it's good for kids just getting into games. The story is enough to keep them interested, and the gameplay is very simplistic. You can probably find it for crazy cheap at this point.

Beyond that, my kids love Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. They have friends over to play it all the time. It's really great, and again, probably cheap.

Gredler

Diablo III has a fun couch co-op experience. The sports games are really fun, and have a lot of replay for two players.

There are also a lot of indie/downloadable games that are great for kids.

Resogun is my favorite game on the system so far. I got Resogun free via a friend's ps+ account. So far I've bought Destiny, Wolfenstein New Order, Last of Us Remastered, Dragon Ball Xenoverse, and Blood Born. And honestly, if I was not given the system and had gotten really good deals on those games, I could easily live without the ps4 right now. Not a bad system, but nothing to write home about. there are about 100x good games for all the systems that cam out before this generation so far, nothing sells me on this generation yet.

Arkhan Asylum

Omega Quintet, aww yeeeah.

I dunno, there's not that much on PS4 in general.
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

Go WiiU

The games are more fun for groups of three or more.

Unless you really want to play first and third party games the PS4 is the way to go.Though the last game i really played on it was bloodborne and i platinum the game to.Keep in mind for online play you must have a playstation plus account.Still with plus you do get discounts and free games as well. For games that kids can play i don't know. There is another ratchet and clank coming which is a remake of the original.
Pros good 3rd party support and updates that are very smooth and plus gives free games.

Cons release of new games have been very slow with to many remasters.

This sadly seems very true. I mean heck the next batman game won't come for the WiiU unlike sense red edition and origins.

But I can say that there are a ton of great 3rd party games currently at the $14 mark.

The physical release of Pinball Arcade is a no-brainer purchase. It has tables by Williams, Gottlieb, Stern, and Bally and it you can think of a favorite pinball table it's probably in this compilation. Keep in mind that it only includes Season One. There are a crap-ton of other tables available for purchase. For $60 more you can get a plethora of more tables. It's jawsome!

I've been playing The Last of Us Remastered and holy hell is it a good looking game. Good story so far too.

And, of course, you can't go wrong with Alien Isolation.

mitsuman

So I bought a PS4 Friday night. Got it hooked up last night and holy shit is my mind blown. The last new system I bought was a Wii. So that tells you have out of the loop I have been when it comes to consoles.

I bought the bundle pack with this game. I downloaded it last night and will try it out tonight.

My wife and I also played Mortal Kombat X for about 30 minutes last night. It was basically a button mashing fest, but fantastically awesome.

Then my daughters played Minecraft for a bit and really seemed to enjoy themselves.

I'll have to make a list of suggested games from this thread and work my way through them. Thanks for the suggestions/info! I appreciate it.

PukeSter

Call me silly, but Dynasty Warriors may actually be fun for little kids.

It's mostly button mashing, and it does have co-op.

Though obviously the characters are from ancient history, at least there isn't any blood.

My dad and I went to see Jurassic World. I only ever saw the first one, but this movie was really good too.

Definitely some suspenseful parts.

We have both the PS4 and Wii U and my suggestion is, if you're gonna factor kids into the equation, get a Wii U.

Too many glorious games on Wii U that you'll cherish with the kiddos.  Someone mentioned Diablo III for PS4 - um yea, not really appropriate for kids that age.  Knack is great and kids would love it.  Of course there are the LEGO games.  But really, you need a Wii U.

Mario 3D World
Mario Kart 8
Rayman Legends
Donkey Kong Country
Captain Toad
Splatoon
etc, etc

Let your kids be kids a while longer.  They'll be playing GTA 6 and Black Ops 32 on your PS5 soon enough!

Yeah don't listen to the haters. Nintendo did fuck up but Wii U is still awesome.

Yeah I did. And yeah it was disappointing. But if no other game was released for the console it would still be worth owning.

LEGO Lord of the Rings is $10 on PSN at the time of this writing.
