My SuperGrafx (with CD attachment) is very lonely these days.  Anyone have a 1941 Counter Strike CIB for trade by any chance?

I have a spare 1941, but I can't say it's worth $550 in good conscience.  Sorry, no deal.

Why not accept one of those $500 offers you turn down and buy two CIB copies of 1941?

Whoa...

Hold the presses.  I was never offered that.  One time, years ago, I was offered $300 on NA for it.  I should have taken it because I am not even sure I can get that now.  I did have it on eBay for a while at crazy BIN prices ($400, $500, $600) with a "best offer" option.  I never received an offer through eBay.  To tell you the truth I never thought I would get over $350.  It was fun chatting with everyone on this forum about it.  Every time I would raise the price people here would go nuts.  I kept raising it to hear the hate posts lol.  Hey, I always liked the heel in wrestling.  It was free to post and raise the BIN price so I was just having fun with it.

IDK....

I have a hard on for my SuperGrafx/Super CD Rom 2 set up.  It's so dope.  Only SuperGrafx game I have is Ghouls and Ghosts so I want another one.  Not really into sealed games that just sit there.  Give me a game I can play.

A friend is asking to buy my Dragon Slayer.  I always kept my stuff in good condition.  I'm the first owner and all manuals and posters are basically untouched.  At worst the condition for everything is 8/10 but I'd say it is 9/10 just because it's opened and used.  How much do you guys think it is worth?  I've seen it listed on eBay for $550 in the past.  Thanks for your help!

I would say a 9/10 complete with everything is worth $200.  Now 9/10 to me means everything is mint and in like new condition; not a blemish to be seen anywhere on the map, instructions, disc, and case.  Hope this helps.

Damn, I'm glad I still have my copy of DS from back in the day!  I actually remember playing through it when I was a little down in the dumps as a teen.  Thanks Falcom!  As for 1941, I hope you can find a copy.  It seems pretty great, I played a little bit of it.  I forget where I read it (probably here for all I know) but aren't there some exclusive levels at the end of the SGX port?

I have always loved DS.  The intro is great!  I love the music and even the cheesy US voice acting.  The battle system ins't bad but not the greatest either.  It's just a game that I personally found some charm in.  I would always go to the pirate hideout and play othello...for hours.  To bad this guy has been part of the problem jacking up the price on this common game.  This game should be $50

Brand new $50 or opened?  I can see maybe opened but not new.  C'mon really.

Hey Geise let me ask you a question.  Dollar value aside do you think it's a fair trade for a CIB 1941 in good shape?

No.

DS is a common game.  1941 for the SGX has fewer copies and is a more sought after title.  Hell you could almost get the cps1 pcb for less.

Quote from: guest on 09/12/2015, 01:44 PMPlease explain the formula which determines the value of a sealed game compared to a CIB game.
I think you are simply forgetting about the "collectard Variable."  So the formula is something like this:

(((g + c) * 2cv) + fe) * gr = Cost of sealed game.

Variables:
g =  Cost of reasonable condition game to reasonable person.
c = Added cost for above reasonable condition with everything that originally came with the game.
cv = Collectard Variable, or the supposed value of a game by someone who has to have em all and they all have to be collectible.
fe = Flippers expenses
gr = current rate of gauge

There isn't an exact formula but if you're gonna tell me new and sealed games don't go for more than opened CIB games than I would say your crazy.  Just do a simple eBay sold search on almost any game out there to get the evidence.  I have seen CIB Dragon Slayers go for $200 in the past but recently they seem to be going between $75 - $150 (has to have the map).  So to me a NIB copy should be around $200-$300.

If anybody thinks "sealed" carries a premium, they are as pathetic as the people paying a premium for "sealed". Actually, asking a premium for sealed is probably worse, because they are just praying on the moronic tendacies of sealed collectards. Its sad. To me, sealed is worth less because you cant do anything with it, and you have to waste time opening. Time is valuable. Aint got time for that. Fuck that noise.

This is your opinion and I am fine with it however the data is out there that says in the open market NIB games sell for higher prices than CIB games.  I actually agree with you to some extent that I would rather have a CIB game I can play than a new game that just sits there and collects dust.  That's exactly why I want to trade for a game I will play (1941).  With that said I'm not just gonna give the DS away either.
"There's something out there in those trees and it ain't no man. We're all gonna die."

Now, on the one hand, I don't buy games from gamestop that have been opened.  In my opinion, they are not "new" and since that particular store charges more for new games than for used games I feel like it's at the very least disingenuous.  Thus, from a brick and mortar store I'll buy a new game sealed or I won't buy a "new" game.  I won't pay more for "like new" compared to its used price regardless of whether or not it has already been played.

That being said, I would never under any circumstances pay for a sealed copy to put on my shelf.  I don't buy games that I don't intend to play.  When I buy a game, I play it.  The reason I don't buy 20 year old sealed games and open them is because of idiots who are under the impression that what they have Isn't just a game and is instead some stupid collectible meant for looking at and thus said idiots try to charge ridiculous premiums.
