She gets another boyfriend, and while attached to said BF, she and evilore decide to take a "just friends" road trip to New Orleans.  While getting drunk in the hotel room together, she gets sick and decides to get in the shower. He gets in the shower too. She lets him know it's not cool, and he gets out, and is mean to her the rest of the trip.

Apparently, he had been introducing her to people and helping her network for her film company. So she was all good and fine with that.
And they had a consensual physical relationship even after that shower incident. Those are her words.
But years down the road and now all of a sudden the urge is so great and the disgust level is such that she has to speak about how she feels so "gross from having ever been in contact with this person".

Gonna say it: I loved NeoGAF. I never ventured to the Off Topic section, but the gaming section was better and more up-to-date than any "pro" site out there. I was a lurker, hardly ever posting anything, but it was a great place to get literally up to the second news. Yeah, there were lotsa shit-posts, but that's any forum. (Right guys? ;)).

The story of what happened is also fishy to me. I get it, I get it: he did something inappropriate while they were staying in a hotel room together and after a night of drinks. Not cool. But she went on to actually have a physical relationship with him after the fact. It just seems strange.

Anyway, I've heard that the mods are trying to put together a new site called "Resetera" or something like that, and in the meantime a bunch of members are hanging out at slaent.com. (What's with the horrible names?) But my ideal scenario is that Evilore transfers ownership to someone else and the current forums continue on. There's a ton of great info and resources on that site and it would be a shame to just flush it all.

This is not directed at you per say but this sounds like victim blaming, and I've heard it a lot.  There are two sides to every story,  And I believe people are going out of their way to tear down someone in power,  I don't think it is okay to discount that she made a serious comment of an abuse of power, and try to excuse him, and even with your clarification that you get it, It's not really okay.  And I know I am going to be on the outside here, but it's what I think.

I also do believe that the story has been "warped" in attempt just to bring down a place that by all means did have a bunch of good members too, and a lot of great of information.  I just think this argument could be made without bringing up her story being false.

It is a strange story. And IMO, it could or could not be true. If you take it in isolation, there is certainly enough doubt.
But apparently this dude is not exactly boy scout material and carries some "baggage" with inappropriate past behavior. I think that's where folks are mostly already forming the guilty verdict and jumping in now and saying he must have done it.

I just think we need to be careful on taking everything the accusers say as gospel.

I am happy that women are feeling they can finally talk about this and these men should be prosecuted. But they should be prosecuted in court. With evidence, testimonials, witnesses, etc.

In the court of public opinion (and the social media) everyone is presumed guilty until proven innocent. Sometimes they're even presumed guilty even after being proven innocent.

To be fair I also think that "social media" and members have taken this to a tear down level.  And I honestly don't know if he is guilty, he may not be. that is for a jury to conclude.   I also believe that everyone is fibbing to some degree in these accounts.  but I don't think it's for me declare a verdict.   I don't think it should effect the neoGAF site either. What I do think is happening and is a major problem, is bandwagoning without critical thinking. 

To clarify exactly what I am taken exception to:
 I don't think it's fair to cast doubt on the accuser in any manner.   While It hasn't so much happened here on this forum, I have seen several people using this a key sticking point on how she is somehow to be blame. (twitter is full of several good examples) Just as it isn't fair to declare him guilty without evidence I don't think it's fair in the court of public opinion to declare her guilty either.

I used to visit Gaming Age, then the forums became more popular than the actual site and the actual site closed creating the Neo Gaming Age Forums. I never really kept up with the mess it became later but there was a lot of good information that leaked from that forum. It's a shame if it is gone.

So, it doesn't look like Malka had a physical/sexual relationship with the victim prior to the accusation, just friendship, based on her accusation and his response. Further, she herself admits they later did hook up. She also didn't name him explicitly in her brief sharing of the event. Malka's rebuttal, if that's true, going on about infatuation and accusing her of being psychotic, that's the kind of shit sexists and abusers often do. The person who accused me is psychotic! What a wet dream for some men. There's women out there who want me or want me to hurt so badly that they'll risk their entire reputation to slander me! Men who believe that have too much ego. Malka has a history, according to accounts, of being a bit too "hands on" with women, so that makes the accusation somewhat consistent.

As for trying stuff like this before courts, there's little to try. It comes down to he-said she-said. Courts demand a level of evidence that is simply impossible to provide in situations like this. Unless you wear your Google Glass everywhere, how is it possible to prove or disprove this event? Nevertheless, people have a right to form opinions of folks, and as a non-involved party reading information after the fact, I'm more inclined to believe the victim in this case. A number of studies estimate that false accusations are far less common than legit ones. Most women have very little to gain and an awful lot to lose when making accusations. The penalties to women (and men), both physical and social, for making accusations are severe enough that there is every reason not to go public with accusations. When people do, it is usually to try to put some personal demon to rest or help comfort others who may be experiencing something similar. I'm certainly not saying false accusations don't happen, but there is this very strong tendency to question and blame victims. What do most people have to gain from false accusations? Nothing that would justify the personal cost, in most cases.

Before folks try and turn this too much into a political football (oops, already happening everywhere), let's remember that hypocrisy happens regularly on both sides of the aisle. Last weekend's NeoGAF implosion was upsetting to anyone who enjoyed reading and posting on the influential gaming message board. Fortunately for them, a new option has already emerged.

On Wednesday night a group of former GAF users launched ResetEra, a clean new message board with sections for discussing video games and other topics ("EtcetEra"). As of Thursday morning they already have more than 7,100 users, according to one moderator. And the site is already full of threads that resemble NeoGAF before last week's implosion.

NeoGAF has been collapsing since its owner Tyler Malka was accused last week of entering a woman's shower against her will, an accusation that he has since denied. The allegation also resurfaced older controversial incidents involving Malka's behavior both in real life and on the forums. After the majority of the site's moderation staff quit, NeoGAF went down for roughly the entire weekend before returning on Monday night with a message from Malka, who said he would be removing political discussions from the site. As he and his staff deleted the bulk of NeoGAF threads discussing what had happened, a flood of users requested bans, often in colorful ways.

As the NeoGAF user Peltz pointed out in a thread that has since been deleted, many of the forum's regular participants were upset not just about the allegation, but about how Malka handled the situation. "If he allowed the criticisms to flow and responded humbly, then this community would still be strong," wrote Peltz.

The new site is not open to the public yet as they are rolling in ex Gaf people first.

People should be able to defined themselves from accusations and statements which can tarnish their reputation their livelyhood and their personal lives.

Why do people stay in abusive relationships? People make poor personal decisions and often excuse bad behavior in the name of maintaining friendships. Anyway, the post she made was originally to a private group of women discussing their own experiences with sexual harassment and assault in the wake of the Weinstein revelations. Now that she has distance from those events of her past it's probably easier to look back and say, "Yeah, that didn't just make me uncomfortable. That was downright creepy and problematic." It wasn't really meant to be a public accusation, but someone else in the group apparently took a screencap and shared it out more broadly. Doncha love how easy it is nowadays for someone to take a "private" on-line conversation and throw it out there for everyone?
