Crazy sounds about right.  Either a game is fun or it isn't.

For the people that own it how do you store yours? I keep mine on the shelf mixed in with the other TG16/Duo games.
I just separate all the hucards from the cases and keep them in the plastic slips in a Japanese plastic container..

I really love this game.  There is some hectic strategy in the way you place your star options whether you want them to stay fixed or move around including the way they fire, can be fixed or directional. The weapons and bombs you purchase also add an element to the gameplay.

And the later layered scrolling is imo just amazing for an huey shooter.

It's one of the first games I take out whenever I hook up my PCE these days. Maybe to others it's not necessarily one of the best shooters on the system, but to me it will always be a personal favorite.

... I actually maybe like Cotton even more, but Magical Chase is better for a casual playthrough. Cotton requires me to be more alert in order to play well.

If I want a casual playing shmup, Chuka Taisen is where its at.

mongoloid monkey dudes on clouds shooting ancient Chinese artwork! YEAH.
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

Sorry, I usually don't have enough time to take part in the conversations on the forum (too much work and things going on). However, I've recently uploaded Magical Chase ads you may find interesting. They, I believe, explain how to order the Fan Edition - the double-page ad came from a PC Engine Fan I think, and the other was in a Weekly Famitsu:

They are in the 'Omake' section, at the bottom of the review page.
I can also add pictures of the PC version - but as far as I remember, it is identical to the Japanese HuCard game (even the CD tracks are identical to the HuCard game as far as I can tell). SuperDeadite, I'm really curious about the Magical Chase CD you mentioned - I have never heard about it, which is usually enough to wet the appetite for more!!!! I need to do some research on this... :)

I love when we dig out some old threads like this one :D

chuka taisen actually is really underrated... years ago friend and me finished the game and we grew rather fond of it tbh.
