@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Yeah, I was searching for Magical Chase and snagged the last one from Traders 2.   They probably put out another "last copy" soon after I left.

Probably paid $600-$700 for all that.  Although a good chunk of change, the price per game is reasonable.  Of course Magical Chase messed up the average. :p

Oh, this list from my trip to Tokyo in 2004 is probably more interesting.  Don't even ask how much this all cost!

Some time ago I added The Kung Fu, Tenchi Muyo, and the second Ranma 1/2 game to my collection, and just this morning I got Urusei Yatsura: Stay With You and Patlabor: Chapter of Griffon (finally! I'm a huge Patlabor freak -- can't wait to play the game!) from ebay.

Incidentally, two games which are conspicuously absent from my collection are Devil's Crush and Blazing Lazers (or a Gunhed)...ya know, in case anybody has some extras lying around they wanna part with for a reasonable price (US or JP versions OK for either)...ahem. ;P

AlexKidd

I just got my first duo and a few new games this week so I figure i'm ready to post my collection now. I got a pretty nice deal on the duo too. One week I was bidding $400 on them and losing and the next week I found one in a store for $115 with Gate of Thunder.

Yeah, too bad we didn't know about each other before because it would have been fun to hang out with other PCE fans.

Now that I know other people on this board go to TGS, perhaps we can all meet up next year... and raid Akihabara together. :)

Just to let you know, Dragon Slayer isn't a action RPG, like Ys, Secret of Mana, Crystalis, etc... but a traditional turn-based RPG like Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy, and Cosmic Fantasy. Personally, I absolutely love the game and if you are a fan of hilarious, cheesy bad voice acting, you'll really love it! :D

Man, last time I checked, Dragon Slayer would go for about $40-50, now it's going to $50-60!? Prices are really getting out of hand these days, I remember even just a few years ago when Dragon Slayer would be around $30; the price seems to have about doubled since! I'm really glad I got Dragon Slayer for a REALLY good deal a year or two ago (Exile, Dragon Slayer, and Ys IV bundle complete all for only $60! THANK YOU, PAUL RAMIREZ!).

Yeah it's getting out of hand for.. some TG16 games.

Still i can't.. blame any one to much bad timing on my part.

Heck i still feel, i should have gotten back into it years ago. I could have save some money then :(

Btw i notice you mention, Exile that one is still cheap.. just that part two is still pricey these days.

Yeah, but PC Engine prices have been plummeting for a awhile, so Turbo/PCE gamers are making out better than ever over Turbo/PCE collectors.

And some of the pricer Turbo gems are easing off now with the majority(includes nearly every quality title) of the "commons" dirt cheap. Especially if you don't care if a game is completely complete or absolutely mint.

Even the PC-FX, Supergrafx & Laseractive are finally affordable(shipping and all). :D

Any differences in Exile 1 from the Genesis version?

I straight up dominated the Genesis version, I can 1cc it.

The average time for beating it is only 2 hours. That's the shortest RPG I've beaten alongside Illusion of Gaia for SNES.

For those who don't know:

1cc - One coin clear, beating a game in one sitting without dying.

You folks are going to cry when you hear this: a fellow turbo fan (I only know him via emails over the years), snatched up a U.S. Dynastic Hero for $30 not too long ago. IT WAS ON EBAY! I saw the auction. A mom was selling her son's old stuff, or something like that. She listed a bunch of games -- all of them for $30. No Magical Chases (I checked), but Dynastic Hero, DAMN!

Anyway, the game was legit, and in very good shape. I told him I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JEALOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUS. He has a Black Berry and was able to "Buy it now" as soon as he got an email from ebay.

The chances of this happening again? Hmmmm, not in my lifetime.

I wanted to post in the other thread about how you got into turbo and decided to post here instead, cause I've got all the games here.

Back when the TG-16 came out a friend of mine bought one.  He even bought the CD unit when there were just 4 games for it, and he got all of them (Fighting Street, Monster Lair, Last Alert, and Ys I&II).  I played his TG16 all the time, and we used to play a lot of 5 player moto roader.  Eventually he wanted sports games and got a Genesis to play Madden and others and sold off all his turbo collection (which was formidable!).

Somewhere aroung 1991 when the TG16 was being blown out at $50 new and lots of turbo stuff was available at used stores for dirt cheap, I got one.  Originally, I got it for multiplayer games like Moto Roader and for Blazing Lazers and the Crushes.  However, I loaded up on the cheap games and got some new ones as well.  When the Duo came out I bought it, largely because I loved the Bonk games already and didn't have them, and bought more games, too!  I never really got into video games enough to be that interested in other systems.  In '93 I got a SNES to play John Madden football, and for Super Bomberman since my second TurboTap died on me just like the first one.  I have like 6 games for the SNES, including a couple Shmups I just got because they are well regarded.

Here's my collection today, some of which is going to go on the chopping block because there are games that either suck or don't interest me that I'll never play again.  All games are US releases, I never bought an import, though I want Spriggan.

I love Shmups.

Shmups:
Psychosis
Raiden
Deep Blue
Gate of Thunder 4-in-1
Lords of Thunder
Super Star Soldier
Space Harrier
Fantasy Zone
Sidearms
Ordyne
Sinistron
Cyber-Core
Monster Lair
Veigues Tactical Gladiator
Cotton
Aero Blasters
R-Type
Blazing Lazers
Galaga 90
Air Zonk
Soldier Blade
Dead Moon

All Others:
Ninja Spirit
Bonk 3
New Adventure Island
Bomberman 93
Buster Brothers
JJ and Jeff
Parasol Stars
Last Alert
John Madden Duo CD Football
Prince Of Persia
Final Lap Twin
Andre Panza Kickboxing
Keith Courage in Alpha Zones
Alien Crush
Fighting Street
Moto Roader
Implode
Devil's Crush
Legendary Axe II
Riot Zone
Shadow Of The Beast
Ys Books I and II
Takin' It To The Hoop
World Class Baseball
TV Sports Football
Time Cruise

Hardware
Base TG-16
Turbo Duo
Duo controller adapter
Turbo Tap
Five Turbo pads, one with extension cable
Freedom 16 (haven't tried it since I detemined that it sucks 5 minutes after trying it - maybe it's worth another look)

There are very few games that I want for the system, Spriggan, Battle Royale, I remember that being incredibly fun in multiplayer.
Wonk-wonk-wonk.  Where are your true friends at times like this?  Right here!  Wonk-wonk-wonk.
