 Didn't feel the love in the DUO R & DUO RX thread, though there is a lovely bunch of consoles pictured in there =D>. So as suggested I'm starting a thread in which all hardware pictures are welcomed and in fact encouraged, there's no prejudice here.

Be it a PC-Engine, Core Grafx, Core Grafx II, briefcase setup, Super CD-RomRom, DUO, DUO R, DUO RX, GT, LT, SuperGrafx, Shuttle, Laseractive or even a development unit, the PC-KD863G or a Sharp Twin X-1 or maybe a Taiwanese clone, it'd be nice to see a hardware roll of honour.  :o

I have the Japanese DUO and DUO monitor set up.

IMG

Also a Core Grafx II and Super-CD-RomRom

IMG

A briefcase set up

IMG

And finally a GT

IMG

As I said I'd love to see what treasures the boards hold, and to me that is every piece of hardware so don't be shy!.  [-o<

 =D>

Very Nice stuff NeoStuey! I must say it all looks very clean and minty fresh! I did have one question, is that little monitor ment to go with a Duo, or Briefcase unit? Or is it just a universal screen? Thats the first one I have seen...

I wasn't trying to cut your post down on the R,RX thread but being thats what the thread was created for, I figure (IMO) it should stay with only Duo-R,RX pics there.

Although I will deff post pics of my PCE Duo and TG here~!
IMG

NeoStuey

He-he, no worries.  :D

I was being a little antagonist by putting my DUO in amongst the Rs and RXs

That is a DUO monitor. Gamers condition, it's been shown some hard love in a past life.

IMG

Matches up with the DUO nicely.

IMG

IMG

IMG

Considered to be quite rare and pricey, although having said that 3 did turn up all at once on eBay just recently which is when I picked mine up from Adol. :)

The monitor can be hooked up to anything with composite output so you could use a DVD player or most other games consoles. Works off the mains or 6 alkaline batteries.

And yes I'd love to see your other consoles override. Your Duo R was looking very nice in those shots you posted. :D

jperryss

Very cool, never seen one of those monitors before.

My region-modded Duo-R (old pic) currently my only TG/PCE console.

EDIT: Dammit! I meant to post this in the other thread. Ah well.

Damn anti-American/anti-European bigots!  You say that you want to see all hardware, yet you left out every single piece of western hardware (TurboGrafx-16, Turbografx, TurboGrafx-CD, TurboExpress, and TurboDuo).  I see I'll be crying myself to sleep tonight.  Again.

I'm too lazy to take pics now, so I'll recycle this one from an old thread:

I suppose this would be better-suited for the "current gaming set-up" thread, since this is what I have in rotation now. I use both the CRT and LCD, but I have yet to mount the LCD on the wall, or get a wheeled platform for the CRT.

Welcome :)

I love the suitcase.

Now, if you really want to receive a heartfelt embrace here, you need to play Blodia and Rastan Saga II. Don't be swayed by the naysayers: you can have fun with these games (Blodia is legit fun, Rastan is masochistic fun).

It's not as pretty as some of the pictures here, but it's functional!  I've also got a boxed Duo hidden in a closet somewhere.

There are two (kind of) peculiar things about this photo.  Can anyone notice it?

Firebomber is also using crappy composite on a TV that fully accepts RGB.  Why? Why? Why would you do such a thing???

And MONO?  Why in the hell would you hook up a game with beautiful redbook audio in MONO???

There are reasons for all of these things which will be revealed in time.

In the meantime, however, as I said, "There are two (kind of) peculiar things about this photo.  Can anyone notice them?"

HINT: The image of Rondo of Blood that you see on the TV is running in component video AND in full stereo.  Before you get any ideas; yes, it is a legit version of Dracula X.

Well the PCE itself is not turned on.  So I assume your playing Rondo on the Wii.  But be a man, RGB mod your PCE and play it the real way!

And we have a winner!!!!!!!  Hooray for the Japanese Wii Channel!

I do have a CIB Duo, so I definitely have stereo hook-ups.  As for modding it, I honestly haven't looked into that much.  I've got at least another year in Japan until I return home to Canada, so I'm trying to buy up as much awesome stuff as I can while I can.  Most of the consoles in my signature are Japanese, so you can see that I've definitely been busy.  After I'm back, I might consider doing some modding... but honestly it isn't one of my priorities.  If I really want to play in component, both my Wii and modded X-Box do the job nicely via emulation (I'm sure you're gasping with disbelief as you read this).  I'm mainly just happy and proud to own all of this stuff that I used to covet as a kid reading Gamepro, Die Hard Gamefan, etc., back in the day.

Is it much work to mod it for RGB?  I have seen the tutorials on the internet, but just breezed by them.  Also, if I mod my Duo... where does it end?  Then I've got to add at least s-video to my Genesis and Mega Drive, NES, Famicom, Mark III, AES, etc.  I think the rest of my system have it already.

Huh?  Your Genesis, MegaDrive, AES (not sure about the MarkIII though) all output RGB naturally without any modifications needed.  That's why I'm shocked that you aren't using it.  The AES looks like shit through Composite!  Your Sony Trinitron has an AV-Multi port right?  It accepts pure beautiful RGB, why settle for anything else?

All you need is something like this: http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/128409769  Then you can use the standard 21pin RGB cables.

Yeah, the AES composite is terrible. I've never understood this. The NeoCD looks much better.

But even with RGB the image will still be shite if stretched.

Huh?  I had no idea, honestly.  I just use the composite cables.  The Mega Drive and Genesis output a composite video signal from the regular yellow video connection, and stereo sound from the headphone jack in the front.  The PCE used the same connection but outputs stereo sound from it.  The Mark III is also the same.  The AES uses a slightly different connection.

Yes, the TV has a Japan-only D-Link terminals, which is an AV-Multi port that accepts up to 1080i signals.  The AES does look... less than optimal though composite (I KNOW, because I've compared side-by-side with the Neo CD which uses S-video).  Are you telling me that I can just buy a component D-link cable and it will work?

In all honesty, though, I'm looking to leave Japan next year.  So, I won't be upgrading any cables until then.  After that, though, of course I'll upgrade them.  I just didn't realize that I could without having to mod anything.

Umm, no they are different cables.  D-Link = Component.  AV-Multi is basically a Playstation Cable connector and only certain Sony TVs have them.  You have a Sony Trintron HD-CRT right?  You should have the port.  The D-Link only caries Component Video.  But the AV-Multi can take component or true pure RGB.  Most Sega Consoles, and the AES generate video as pure RGB, it is the best video connection you can possibly get.  If you use an encoder and compress RGB, you then have component.  If you mix it all togheather  except the chroma and luma lines, you get S-Video.  If you just jumble all the video into one ugly mess, you get composite.

There are many people who would kill for a modern TV that supports RGB.  It just surprises me that you have an AES, which just begs to use RGB, and even a compatible TV.  You just need the standard NEO GEO 21pin-RGB cable, and the Sony AV-Multi adapter.

The sad part is that I'll be selling it by next summer when I move.  Want to buy a nice Sony Trinitron HD-CRT that supports RGB?  To be honest, even though I haven't been fully using it, I'm very happy with it and would definitely buy this again instead of an LCD or plasma TV.  I LOVE the picture on it.

BTW, it does have an AV-multi port.  I just checked.  Since I'll be looking to get another TV next year, should I be looking for something with an AV-multi port in it?  I guess I should be getting a Sony AV-Multi adapter.  Would this be useful to bring home to North America?

Currently, I've already shipped my AES, Neo CD, Duo, one of my Saturns and some other stuff to Canada.  I couldn't test the AES with a Multi-AV adapter if I wanted to.  Were you telling me that the Mega Drive and PCE can also take advantage of it?

I realize that I sound quite ignorant of this stuff... because I am.  I generally just by s-video connections of I find them available, and then go composite if I can't.  The poor Mega Drive and AES looks kind of sad.  The PCE actually looks pretty damn good, though.  Hell, it looks decent in RF!!!  The PC Engine has done nothing but impress me since I got into it less than a year ago.

I have a TV very similar to yours, although mine is the 4:3 model which I prefer.  AV-Multi was only used in Japan, you won't find a TV with it in Canada unless it was imported.  Any system that directly outputs RGB could use it.  The PCE generates RGB, but you need to do some modding work in order to output it.  But the MegaDrive, SuperFamicom, AES, NeoCD, Saturn, all just need their respective cables.
