Strider > Shinobi for "ninja-ness" factor (wall climb, flips, etc)
Shinobi > Strider for "just getting the job done" factor (shurikens, ninja magic)

Strider > Shinobi for "cool-factor"

Strider Hiryu edges out Shinobi in my book.

Strider has always been a fav of mine.

strider hiryu has sweet flock of seagulls hair, doesnt look like a grampa in a ninja halloween costume, and can do that sweet midair cartwheel.

He wins
This "max-level forum psycho" () destroyed TWO PC Engine groups in rage: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook "Because Chris 'Shadowland' Runyon!," then the other by Aaron Nanto "Because Le NightWolve!" Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together... Both times he blamed the Aarons in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged, destructive, toxic turbo troll gang!

As much as i like Shinobi(I use to call him Joe Shinobi and i have no ideal why lol)am going with Strider Hiryu he is just so much cooler and i think just the stronger of the two. :D

OldRover

Strider, easy. Shinobi games are too "rigid" for me...might as well just have given an ordinary Joe a sword and a supply of shurikens and it would make more sense. Shinobi games don't really represent the whole spirit of Ninjitsu; Strider is closer by far. Even Ninja Spirit is a far better Ninjitsu-based game than any Shinobi.

They're both good, but I prefer the greater variety found in Strider.

Strider wins easy. However if it was 'Super Shinobi' vs Strider, that would be different.

Shinobi would smoke Hiryu is a New York second.

As a game, Strider is good, but Shinobi has multiple games that rock.

Shinobi's Ninja magic is pretty hardcore. However, I spent countless dollars playing the arcade version of Strider.

The revisions of the franchises have improved the overall badass factor of both.

I voted Shinobi based on the PCE/Genny Game. If this were an arcade forum it would be a different story.

OldRover

Oh, don't forget that Strider has been in several vs fighting games, while the guy from Shinobi is retired and smoking sausages these days.

I never liked Strider arcade/Genesis/etc, so I voted for Shinobi, which games I have enjoyed. I have yet to play through Strider 2, but even if it's teh greatest(!) it still probably wouldn't cancel out the many Shinobi games for me. I do like the NES Strider, but again, there are twice as many Shinobi's and the original has nostalgic value for me while I've yet to encounter a Strider arcade cabinet.
Justin the Not-So-Cheery Black/Hack/CrackTiger helped Joshua Jackass, Andrew/Arkhan Dildovich and the DildoPhiles destroy 2 PC Engine groups: one by Aaron Lambert on Facebook, then the other by Aaron Nanto!!! Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

I love Strider dearly, but the arcade/genesis version is the only good one they ever made.

When you do encounter a Strider cabinet; it may change your perception of the game. Well, it was one of my favorites, anyway. They had one at a cheap-seats movie theater a few blocks from my house growing up, and those bastards always forgot to lock the console so we could get free plays most of the time :)

They had Street Fighter II set to an impossible difficulty level, and it would eat the money of even the most seasoned professionals.

Dark Fact

I like Strider because not only do I love the Shing! of his cipher blade but he got to fight against really cheesy villains!

Eh heh heh heh heh! Strider Hiryuu will never leave Eurasia alive!

Plus, he fought against cyber-commies! It doesn't get any better than that! :)
