@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Arcade Card Duo vs. Pro?

So... if I understand correctly it goes something like this.

A PC Engine Duo with an Arcade Card Duo can play Arcade CDs.

The Arcade Card Pro is basically a 3.0 system card and the Duo card combined to allow a PC Engine + CD to play Arcade CDs.

Correct?

I ask this because I just picked up a Duo-R and an Arcade Card Duo, but the start up screen still says "Super CD-ROM2 version 3.00" and Arcade CDs won't play.  Does this just mean that my Arcade Card Duo doesn't work or needs to be cleaned?  Other HuCard games work on the system, so it is not an issue with the slot.  So far the only Arcade CD I have to test this with is Fatal Fury Special, but I've also ordered Fatal Fury 2, Art of Fighting, and World Heroes 2 and they just haven't arrived yet.

On an unrelated note, I'd really like to find Sapphire and Strider Hiryu, but there wasn't a single copy of either on Ebay when I looked.  Seeing as there are only 12 Arcade CDs I've considered just trying to get all of them.

Yes, though an Arcade Card Pro will also work in a Duo.

The Arcade Cards don't change the start-up screen, so you can ignore that.  Your card might be defective, but hopefully its contacts just need a good cleaning; try a white vinyl eraser or a soft cloth with rubbing alcohol.

There is no additional information on your load screen screen if you use an Arcade Card Duo or Pro. (Using an Arcade Card Pro on a US Duo will get you the PCE SuperCD screen. :P)

Quick question:

Will I have any serious compatibility issues using an Arcade Pro Card in a Murai adapter on a US Turbo-CD?

OK, how about slight compatibility issues? :)

I don't see why you would.  I haven't had any strange compatibility issues with my Mirai, TurboDuo, and Arcade Card Duo (and Pro), though there are a few titles (like Altered Beast) which are picky about system cards.  Mind you, it's the system card that they're picky about, not the console.

Learn something new everyday.  I had my Arcade Pro card for years and never knew it works with Duo systems.  Great to know and time to look for a Duo more actively.

Thanks for the info.
