This isn't a terribly interesting find but I thought I'd share:

The Hucard sound generated by the Turbo Duo and TG-CD are noticeably quieter than the sound of a TurboGrafx with the TurboBooster Plus.  More importantly, the bass frequencies are more pronounced on a TurboBooster Plus while the Duo/CD is a little heavy on the treble.  When I discovered this I thought the capacitors in my Duo were failing.  I then tested a second, barely used Duo and a TG-CD deck and both had the same, quieter volume.  The bass on the CD systems seemed to remain weaker even when I compensated for the volume difference.

Obviously, we all have a volume knob so this doesn't mean much.  For those running a CD system, you may want to give the bass a little boost on your stereo if you haven't already.  I don't have a regular, non-Plus Turbo Booster to compare but I assume it's the same.

How does the US Turbo Booster compare to the Japanese PC-Engine version??? And where do the Super Grafx and PC-Engine shuttle fit in?

VestCunt

The only other system I have is a SuperGrafx and Super CD-Rom.  I'll try them both and report soon.

Thats interesting.  I wonder if its always like this, or if you happen to have a particular hardware issue thats causing it?

Either way, I run my turbo into an amplifier, so I guess I never notice, lol.

Sometimes I even use guitar effect pedals.   I like playing Bonk with phaser.

I'm actually quite curious. If anyone has a PC-Engine Shuttle I would love to hear how it compares. Can the shuttle be connected to a Booster unit??

nat

The sound output on SuperGrafx through RAU-30->IFU-30 CD-ROM^2 has the same bass boost that VestCunt describes with the use of a TurboBooster Plus.

Whether this boost is being done by the SuperGrafx itself, the RAU-30, or the IFU-30 CD-ROM interface dock is unknown (to me, at least).

no I think all it can be shoved into is the RamExpander9000 thing, thats only designed for the shuttle, and it's less-than-normal expansion port

Interesting find.  I need to setup my PCE/TG16 systems and do some testing too.  I have a non "plus" Turbo Booster.
