No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Been a fan of the NeoGeo ever since 1990 when it hit the arcades.

Afther i played Magician Lord i was hooked on it like drugs.

For the rest of the 90's i just played ports since the... arcades here gave up on the NeoGeo afther 94

Still in the end it didn't stop me from getting my own set up.

When i found out how the used market was for the, NeoGeo afther the 90's ended. I figure now is the time since the "used market" wasn't bad on prices.

I started with a AES at frist but in the end it was still too pricey for me.

So when i found out MVS could be played at home without buying a cab.I just settle for a, consolized set up i wasn't in the mood to mess with a supergun either all those wires :P

So far my (NeoGeo MVS consolized 2 slot) is keeping me a happy gamer :D

What's great about MVS games are dirt cheap compared to AES 8)

Btw i don't wanna 'hear why didn't you settle for some Neo emulation.I'm sorry in my book... nothing beats the real deal

I know what ya mean... who didn't want one afther playing it in the arcades.

Back then it was either Genesis,TG16 or a SNES.

I remember back then i chose the (TG16 plus the TurboCD) since i wanted to 'experince cd games again realy bad. Afther playing, MonsterLair and Valis II in a rental store.

Still the times have change at least getting a, NeoGeo these days doesn't cost a fortune :D

I really want to get a MVS cab some day, but I'll probably end up getting the board and a Super Gun because of space reasons, even though I prefer the cab.

If your worry about space there are smaller, MVS cabs like this one :D

Neo-29 also know as a candy cab.

Then there's this one for wich i wouldn't mind having either

Neo-19

I doubt i'll stick with my, consolized mvs set up forever. If and when i ...move next year and if space isn't a issue. Then i'll probably sell my, MVS and look into getting a cab like the Neo-19

Where do you get those Candy Cabs anyway? I always wanted one. Fits in my room perfectly.

I know of those Candy cabs, but I was planning on getting an All-American MVS cab since I prefer the American arcade style  8) .

I didn't "discover" Intellivision until around 1988 when a buddy bought one at a flea market, and we played Sea Battle just for laughs between bouts of Simon's Quest and Double Dragon on the NES. The 2600 was huge though, all my friends had one...

...And I vividly remember "the crash" if only for the huge bins packed with 25 cent cartridges that sat outside of KB Toys until literally 1985 or 86!

All my friends had a 2600... I think I was the only one to have a Colecovision. I remember their jaws dropping when I showed them Donkey Kong...

I remember going thru the bins of 25 cent carts at Kay Bee Toys (it wasn't called 'KB' back then  :P ) too!!

My Coleco is buried somewhere in my basement... I should dust that thing off and see if it still works... haha

Well there all ways the red mini cab then.

Unless you got big hands and don't like a 13 inch screen, then i wouldn't recomend it.

Heck the red mini cab was made with kids in mind.

Still nothing wrong with a supergun of corse if you just want to play, NeoGeo games and your not worry about. Playing other, jamma pcbs a consolized set up isn't bad either.

I got a couple candy cabs and a 1-slot mobo with a pause button wired into my Neo Candy :) and 30+ MVS carts. Plus a Hyper Neo with all 4 fighters.

Recently got Bloody Wolf [original arcade version] since I loved the turbo version so much.

Surprisingly identical to the TG-16 version. Obviously, its slightly better in arcade form. But the contrast between the two versions is more slight than say, Splatterhouse when compared to the arcade version. I should take some pics.

Holy shit that Genesis one is awesome.  Whoever built that has some serious talent, it looks damn professional.

Ninja Spirit

That Genesis MVS is fine by me. After all, blue is my absolute favorite color. I wonder how much it is to get all that done.

Oh yeah as a matter of fact, if anyone's got a dead Neo Geo CD system (top loader), I need a new CD lid for my NGCD. One of the side hinges totally broke off and causes the game to reset on its own because the lid slips off level.

Keranu

DAMN that Genesis one is incredible! I hate the Genesis model 2 design also, but he pimped the hell outta it!

I picked up a Pelican Arcade stick, wooden based, that will let you switch the parts out fo rHapps stuff if need be,and a MVS board,a Crazarcade video encoder, jamma harness, and other junk, and some MVS carts.
I was going to consolize the MVS,as it has joystick ports for AES,but instead Ill just build a supergun out of the arcade stick. After I get done with everything,Ill get you guys pics.

Im still needing Phantasm 4 on LD. No one ever places it up for sale.2 and 3 are only on VHS and LD in the US.Not on DVD,so unless your willing to do the Pal dance, which Im not,LD is Phantasms home.I usually watch all 4 once a week.I have the 4 of them as Divx rips I keep around so I dont have to ruin the 3 I do have on ld by dragging them out all the time.

My final product supergun project.I only used the Pc Engine as a temp host, now everything is fit nice and snug(RGB converter,s-video jack, audio output, jamma out,and power plug port are contained or come out of the back end storage area of the Pelican arcade stick.)

I have chosen to use a standard AT power supply. I have a bunch of them readily available as it is,and they have a fan to keep themselves cool. Also the plug I used on the supergun fits any PC power supply +12/+5 cd-drive power cord.
This is like the third time I have owned a MVS,7th time I have owned a cart based NeoGeo. I was originally going to just consolize my MVS,which btw I only paid 50 bucks for,but changed my mind. Id much rather have a fully functioning supergun so I can play other stuff as well.

Right now I am sitting at 5 carts here at home, and waiting for 3 more to arrive. Here right now I have Last blade 2,Art of Fighting,Samruai Shodown 2,Sengoku,and Magican Lord.

Due to arrive next week out of Canada is Samurai Shodown 4,Blazing Star, and KOF 99.
Anyway I got a way better web cam today,so enjoy the higher res pic

PCEngineHell

This final product still cost less to build then D-Lites basic one cost to buy.
I recomend to any and all of you to just build one yourself.
Use the extra cash on MVS carts or Rastan pcb or something.
This was damn easy to build.

I dont use component on my monitor.I never needed anything that high because I dont use my dvd player often.Just laserdisc players which use S-Video,this and I do not think component output would vastly improve my already wonderful picture quality. My monitor I use is a 24 inch Apex.It has composite in,3 of them,S-video in,and video/audio output.I love this monitor. The glass is dark glass on it,and the picture is very crisp.I have calibrated it using the Avia Home Theater dvd.The results were infact a great deal better then the THX calibrater I have used in the past.
Needless to say,Im very pleased with this setup.

This is a link to the pic of the back side of my supergun. Up under the power plug there is a audio out jack cable, very hard to see.I set it up for mono, sens emost stuff is mono by default.I have a special audio cable made for stuff liek th eMVS that will hook up to the stereo out prongs to give me stereo output on any audio source, along with 2 speakers with the same type hookup incase I decide to do self powered stereo,as the MVS can power speakers itself fine.
