It would likely be cheaper to buy a region converter and the Japanese system card. Someone on here had cheap links for Mirai converters but for the life of me I can't recall where.

I would advise you to contact forum member chop5 if you are looking for a PC Engine converter. He makes homemade converters using ribbon from other electrical equipment. They work really well and his asking prices are reasonable.

Getting a japanese system card is definitely the way to go. I would advise getting a PC Engine Arcade Pro card at some point which would allow you to play every single PC engine CD game and you would never need to buy another system card. Make sure it's an arcade pro card and not a duo card since you are using the CD attachment. Unfortunately at the moment, the prices of arcade cards have been on the rise, but nothing compared to what US system 3.0 cards go for.

I don't believe the Arcade Card Pro allows you to play Super CD games. Can anyone clarify that?

Ah, for some reason I thought it didn't.

It is interesting to note that the arcade card actually helps run the cutscenes in some games a lot faster. One of my favorite youtube channels, Retroware TV, did an excellent overview of the arcade card in this video:

Ouch, that video hurts. He's confusing MegaBITS with Megabytes among other things.

Alternately, you could get your TG16 region modded so you could simply flip a switch for US or JP.  There are a few on here who can do region mods (I am one of them :P)

well go to telegames if ya want as converter.  they are sellin em mad cheap now   http://www.telegames.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=7922.   I used one for three years and I swear it fd up my slot but then agan Ive been gaming on my turbo for 15 years.  Id say if you dont care about ruinning you tg Id say go with the mod and fork over the loot for the arcade pro card  not the duo.  In a perfect world you would want to buy a duo r and use that for all cd and pce games due to tgcd having more of a chance to break and then just using your turbo just for turbo huey.  You dont seem that into it yrt so Id go with the converter and if ya like it get the mod

Just a note, I don't believe that Altered Beast will play using an Arcade Card.  (It requires the System 1.0 Card)

Also, "Take the 'A' Train III" doesn't work with the US Super System Card or 2.0 Card, so I believe that it has the same issue.  There may be a couple others.

But for the most part, the Arcade Card will run everything you'll want to play - so get it instead of the System 3.0 Card if you're only getting one.
