I find that cool how NEC released many console variations. I havent seen any other console company do something like this.

RCduck7

In the handheld market maybe the game boy...
The advance, the SP, the micro...

The megadrive had it'd feir share to with the multijet, megadrive II, 32X add on, mega CD...

But yes, you're right still nothing like the NEC consoles. :)
don't be human... be peacefull

for a while there a lot of systems were getting a remake a year or two before they were discontinued.
Sega Master System ll gets my vote for coolest looking console.

ouch! If you read my post in another thread (I forget where), you'll discover that I think the original SMS design is the kool one, while the SMS II is boring. That's not to say I dislike the SMSII, I'm just talking in terms of aesthetics.

I think it's pretty cool as well to see all of the PCE variations and I agree with Steve about the Master System design totally.

Yeah the original Sega Master System had a very unique design while the second was just a bit bland (I only own the SMS II however).

When I think about console design, most systems are just, blah...either a front loading or a top loading box. Nothing to special from any company really. I mean there have been some sleek designs but I don't think any system yet has Nailed it. The two closests for me would be the Duo RX, which I think is perfectly designed and very nice how it evolved from the original Duo. Also the design of the Playstation 3...which looks very similar in design to the Duo RX. The PC-FX was also a nice unique design as far as console systems go.

But, by far the sleekest, hottest design to me is the PSP. I know its a portable but it is much more than a mere portable. It is one of the nicest looking peices of Tech hardware to come out in some time in my opinion.

I've always like the design of the Sega MarkIII over SMS. But they've become quite rare and expensive on Ebay especially when it comes with the FM unit.

PC-FX design is so badass, I would love to see one in person.

The SMS is my second favorite platform.

Personally, I love the original model and don't really like(I don't dislike it) the second.

I really wish they'd made more Card games.

They should've called them Se-Cards.

Him and PCE Aarons don't have a good track record together! Both times he blamed the Aarons and their staff in a "Look-what-you-made-us-do?!" manner, never himself nor his deranged/destructive/doxxing toxic turbo troll gang which he covers up for under the "community" euphemism!

The PCE GT/Turbo Express is still the coolest/sleakest/etc... to me(systems in general, not just portables).

Every angle of that thing was given attention and it reminds me of Aliens & R-Type.

Other than 'nailing it' in general, I think it's so cool that a company would dare to put out something like the PCE Shuttle.

Sorry about about that guess I'm not allowed to link images off that site. I don't have webspace to store image, so here is another picture from another site.

^^  CTRL-C & CTRL-P are your friends.

Personally I think the Turbo Duo & original models Sega Genesis/Sega CD combo are the coolest looking.  The PCFX is damn cool too.

I think you mean "CTRL+V" instead of "CTRL-P", but yeah they are excellent friends.

yeah, the original turbo duo is pretty sweet.  i like the purple on the PCE Duo more.
I remember seeing a picture in EGM some years back of the genesis 1 deck equipped with the powerbase converter, the cd player and a 32X all piled on top.  i could never decide if it was incredibly stupid or the most awesome thing i have ever seen.
it is interesting how hard one console tried to span 3 generations of video game systems (8, 16 and 32-bit).
it's too bad, i attribute the number one reason for Sega going in the hole to all of those peripherals it spent so much energy working on.  It should have just stuck to making quality games for the system at hand until it was good and ready to make a real next generation system.
I'm not a big nintendo fan these days, but think this is one thing Nintendo has done very well.  they don'tt make a new system until they absolutely have to and they don't fuck around with attachments.
Of course games on obscure, short-lived, unpopular systems from companies that went bankrupt or left the market are the most fun to track down and there's nothing like pulling out a version of Bomberman or SF2 that your friend has never heard of...so i shouldn't complain.

Is that actually possible? If I remember right you could use either the Powerbase Converter or the 32X, but not both at the same time (they both plugged into the cartridge slot right?). I sold off all my Genesis stuff years ago so I honestly can't remember.

For you Shenmue fans: there's an amusing capsule toy that you can get that does what vestcunt described. It shows a Megadrive with the the Mega CD, a 32X, a Sonic & Knuckles cart plugged into the 32X, and then a Sonic cart plugged into the S&K cart .

Keranu

Haha, that capsule sounds awesome and I was talk about making a stack that big.
