It has been a very long time and I used to be part of the old RIGG (Retro Iso Gaming Guild) community. It was a great comunity but I left the scene am now starting to regain my interest in the PCEngine. I'm really glad I discovered this site. Is the RIGG community still around? If so where can they be found?

Yeah, I remember hanging out in their DC++ room back in the day. God I feel old.

LOL You and me both. And then there was Squaresoft74's rival group. I remember the rivalry to which had the best rips. Good times.

Hello, I think... I don't really know where you can get NEC rips of game CDs these days if that's what you're looking for beyond torrent stuff. Linking to any of that here would not be permitted anyway.

I'm sure Google already answered your question about RIGG and I know I didn't get an email about this, so I find this a rather unusual first post, but I'll take the sincerity of it at face value for now.

Yeah, I shut it down finally for multiple reasons: 1) I stopped seeing any pay off to it. 2) I wanted to end any overt association to a pirating group; yes, I still believe in the abandonware philosophy, but still. Strict places would refuse to link to you. Also, I wanted to focus on fan translation work and get away from some of the psychos that I met in that situation...didn't quite work out though... 3) Doing all that work, preparing quality rips, mastering the process, going through FTP hammering when you ran a server, all for a rather thankless public in general, I got tired of it all, etc. I saw how Aaron created a lively forum here with cool members, and it didn't involve giving out free stuff, so I felt I had the wrong formula...

So yeah, you get the idea. It's interesting to know some people are here that hung around it. I didn't know Bigus knew me from there. Well, it wasn't all bad though, I did meet some interesting people, had some good times, and it set some things into motion. For example, Stephen Harris or Tenchi-no-ryu, who recruited me into the group, introduced me to the world of Windows PC imports, specifically Falcom and Ys I&II Complete which all led to the Ys localization projects and unfortunately the mess with the vile XSEED Gamers... I didn't know anything about that before meeting him, I thought Ys had ended on the Turbo Duo with Ys IV... After leaving RIGG he owned? and ran RPGFan.com for a few years. You might know him from there! But yeah, he's the reason I started localizing Falcom import Window PC games of the Ys series.

Well, I guess the answer to your question is that some of us from RIGG are right here, myself included. Keranu is also here, another veteran of that time.

I remember it well. Of course I'm older than dirt.

Heh, I've got a few archives from RIGG that are password protected but I don't remember the passwords.  They're just hanging  around wasting space on an old hard drive.

Oh, those early password-protected ones, yeah, I remember that, it was Tenchi-no-ryu's doing, for a while anyway. Heh. Well, if you ever wanna extract any of those archives, the password is the domain/hostname he once owned:  www.rigg.info

Guess there are more people here that knew and used RIGG than I thought. ;) Small PCE/NEC world, how about that...

seieienbu

lol thanks.  It's kind of nice to finally get around to extracting stuff I've had lying around for a decade.
