This seems like a Barry Bonds case, where the guy was a legit top tier player on the planet, but that wasn't good enough.  So rather than being one of the best, he was threatened and cheated to be the absolute best.  It's pretty shameful, to lose everything he legitimately earned, due to some complex.
A good analogy.  He was also allegedly an awful person personality wise too. Very self absorbed.

Has anyone ever seen the Regular Show episode about him?

If you get a decent softcase, Gamegear cases can fit a TG16.  I use a Logic 3 GG case for my Nomad and my GT.

doesn't fit a charger (or Megadrive games) but it's not like a charger needs the same protection as a GT.

Splatterhouse is a lot of fun. You cant judge it by a video, you really have to play it. Bloody Wolf is ok but not great.... Interestingly these 3 games are some of the only versions that are actually cheaper to get the Turbo versions of.

Why not get both three of them?

Quote from: Nando on 09/04/2012, 03:50 PMA Saturn like pad for smart phones and the ability to dock the phone to the pad. Mainly for home gaming, not so much portable.
That was the first thing I was gonna say.

How about this; say you had a SNES pad with a lead (or wireless maybe) to go to a certain system.  Now, you know those circles on the SNES pad, where the buttons go?  Imagine you could turn it a quarter circle and pop it out, and then put in a 3 button module in the Genesis layout, or pop in a 2 button rapid-fire unit for PCE games.

Something like that would be perfect for virtual console releases (though I'm not sure Genesis buttons would fit in the space of a SNES's).

I haven't really thought this through much, but I guess what I'm thinking is that people get their favorite base controller, and then swap around buttons for different systems.  IDK.

BTW, here's a SNES earring I made out of Fimo:

Thanks Duo, sounds like I might be asking you for help at some point! :D

Well, big news (for me at least) my 5.6" screen came today!  It's absolutely spot on as big a screen as you'd be able to put in the case I'm working on.
More good news, I set a variable PSU to 5v, and plugged it into my SNES, and it works like a charm, crystal clear image coming through!

There is one weird thing though; out of the box, it's set to VGA, and it doesn't auto detect composite.  I set it to composite, then turned it off and on, and also disconnected power, so it seems that the settings are CMOS backed up, so if you set the power on and to composite, it should do what it needs to without needing the control module (which I hadn't planned on including).  However, it does make me reluctant to build it into some permasealed construction.

Plus the cable to the control module is too thick to go through the hinge mechanism I'd been considering, so I couldn't really insert it into there.

Here's a couple of pics:

And this one is just to show you the size compared to a core grafx

Ok, been working away at my own converter.  I've already made some stupid mistakes;
Firstly, I didn't remeove the pins from the bottom first.  Additionally I didn't have needlenose pliers, which is pretty much essential for this job.  Second thing I did was to cut the extra 2 pins off, so I've glued them back on, but I'm considering starting again with a better understanding.

IMG

Here's the data-pin jumpering (currently unfinished) using the spare ribbon cable from the PCI thing.  I may have cut the ground trace, but I can fix that.  I used a craft knife - will that do the trick for trace cutting?

IMG

Here's my pigs ear of a butchered PCI slot.  Some pins I could't extract after they broke in half at the back, so I just bent them to the back.

picasaweb.google.com/110230170791344573454/August152012#5776878200734975234

And here's the other end with the 2 "extra" pins glued back on

I went out and spent a heap of money on food shopping, and the meals I can now make include:

Nachos w/dips
spaggetti carbonara
tuna pasta
broccoli cheese pasta
mushroom risotto
steak
fresh mackerel with horseradish cream, cucumber and onion on rye
scrambled eggs (may need more eggs)
2 fresh pizzas

And then a variety of snacks like yoghurts, chicken satays, cereal and toast.

I was eating a lot of fish and pasta the past week, so it's going to be nice to change things up. Wonder how prices compare?

I'm quite pleased with my cabling.  All I need is a VGA adaptor for my Dreamcast, and then nothing at the back of the TV will need to be swapped around (although the SNES SCART isn't great).  It's still a horrendous mess though, but I can't see it so I don't care.

I don't think I own anything that would inspire awe to anyone here, I just own a lot of nice things.  I have a large collection of Gameboys (looking out for a black DMG-001, a blue DMG-001, a black pocket and a silver non-mirror pocket to complete my "basic colours" collection!) which I really need to sort out in a nicer display somehow.

I did make a gameboy game-holder thing out of cardboard and papier mache.  Started out as just 2 pieces of cardboard with slots for games, and then I embelished it:

IMG

I'd really like a zippo case for my gameboy games.

I don't know why I remember, but there are really expensive centrifugal smoothie-makers that seperate out skin and pips etc from pulp.

Has anyone heard of Innocent smoothies?  They're quite the company.  They make A1 smoothies, they have funny little things on the bottles (that I've seen other companies try and emulate and come across as less sincere), and it used to say on the bottle "made from 80% recycled plastic - we're working on the rest".  then they actually became the first company to develop a way of using 100% recycled plastic in their packaging, alongside a recycled paper label.

And at winter, the bottles come with individually hand-knitted hats, donated by fans, and they donate 50p per bottle to looking after old folk during the winter.

Great company, I can't believe they sold half themselves to Coco-cola.

I don't want you to do the whole lot, I just wanted a couple to see what they look like (one could just use the megadrive sprites, but they're not very good).

If that's not suitable for your portfolio, don't worry about it :)

Ok, this is probably going to sound silly, because I know most people are very busy - too busy to be embarking on mini-projects on a whim, but I'll give it a crack.  I mentioned playing TMNT, and my friend made a quip about Trevor McDonald's Newsreading Tournament, and it tickled me.  Trevor McDolad is a famous BBC news anchor in the UK BTW, here he is:

IMG

So I got to thinking - what would Trevor McDonald's Newsreading Tournament be like?

My idea is a simple button bashing affair, where you have to pound I and II as fast as you can, Shooting Watch style, to complete news bulletins as fast as possible.  I figure we get some ridiculous and funny news stories copy pasta style, and the faster you bash, the faster the text is displayed, with a timer in the corner.  And accompanying the text, there's a big picture of Mr McDonald with his lips moving in sync with the button presses, and maybe features like bulging eyes or foaming mouth when you reach a certain speed.  A bit like Bonk when he gets hit for the eyes.

Anyone fancy taking up this project?  I  figure it would be pretty simple.

*edit* also I figure we could do a kickstarter to cover development costs - maybe $5 for snacks?
