@GTV reviews the Cosmic Fantasy 1-2 Switch collection by Edia, provides examples of the poor English editing/localization work. It's much worse for CF1. Rated "D" for disappointment, finding that TurboGrafx CF2 is better & while CF1's the real draw, Edia screwed it up...

Quote from: gheebee on 04/30/2017, 11:17 AMFired up the Duo for the first time in a while last night and beat Splatterhouse. I might have done this once as a kid but the last time I tried this I used up all my continues on level VI; this time I beat VI on the first try. After that I ran through New Adventure Island again and almost had a perfect game until I died on the second to last level and then 3 more times on the last level. :/
Awesome!

Quote from: guest on 04/25/2017, 11:45 PMBlazing Lazers is totally beatable. That last level is a pain in the ass, but if you've saved up enough flashing orbs and can grab a power up or two by using Esteban's aforementioned skills (it's not hard after some dedication), it can be done. I still can't beat it every time I sit down and play it, but I'm probably at about 50% now, which I never thought would be possible.
Interestingly enough, yesterday I tried playing through Blazing Lazers and crashed and burned. However, today, I set up my computer to stream to Twitch and managed to play through the whole thing in s single credit! (The only way it can be finished, I'm pretty certain.)

The game doesn't actually start until about 12 minutes in. I was tinkering with settings before that.

Nectarsis and Sunteam Paul were gracious enough to pop by and provide a bit of running commentary. :)

Not quite as high as my previous post, but I just played through it on Twitch and broke 13 million: :D

Man I wish I could make it this year, but it doesn't look like it'll pan out. So much fun!

Quote from: Nulltard on 04/29/2017, 12:01 AMI am ashamed to admit I have 3 fullsets of NA tg16.  One sealed (keeping), one cic (keeping for playing), and one cib (selling).

Over the next few weeks I will be selling these in the DoxPhile chat. I am proud to offer these to true gamers at bro prices. Fuck eBay and fb... I love you guys and am happy to spread the joy.
Enter me in this raffle.

Dude, totally Guardian Legend. It's Blazing Lazers meets Neutopia. So awesome.

Lol @ Clash! It's too bad he never responded to you, mitsuman, but you should definitely keep an eye out for a CRT. Sonys are often considered the best (and they are definitely great CRTs!) but I also have JVC and Toshiba CRTs that I think look just as good as either of the WEGAs I've owned.

Keep an eye on the "Free" section of Craigslist - I'm sure you'll find one nearby soon. I gave away my 36" Sony WEGA before a move because it was so friggin' heavy, and I spent about a grand on it when I bought it new. :D

DAMN! I wish Titan would do a demo for the PCE. :)

I love this album.

Quote from: crazydean on 04/24/2017, 06:54 PMI have given up on Blazing Lazers. I get to the boss rush and that's the best I can do. So frustrating because it takes like 45 min to get there just to lose halfway through the final level.

Both of these I've had as either VHS or DVD, but I finally got around to adding them to my LaserDisc library, and the both look phenomenal in that format.

Coryoon was the first game I played when I got my GameOfYou Flash Card. The engine is so similar to Air Zonk, but man, I find it harder because of all the stuff on screen! What are you trying to grab and what are you trying to avoid? Who knows until you hit it. :D It's gorgeous and colorful and the soundtrack is awesome, but Air Zonk kicks it's ass imo.

Quote from: TR0N on 04/19/2017, 03:59 AMIt's a shame sega can't be bother to revisit for a sequel.
Yeah, I wish they'd make a sequel too.

I picked up Starpoint Gemini 2 on Steam yesterday hoping to scratch that Freelancer itch and so for is does not disappoint! I'm only a couple of hours in, but almost thought about calling in sick today so I could stay home and play it. :D

My son and I finally completed Skies of Arcadia on the Dreamcast. Man, what a fun game! Next up, Grandia 2. :D

Quote from: Dicer on 04/13/2017, 09:19 PMHow playable is this without knowing moon runes?
Yeah, it's totally playable. I burned a copy awhile back, last time this game came up with some positive feedback and really enjoyed it. It's been on my list of games to pick up since. It's way better than any golf game that got released on the TG16 and is completely playable even if you don't understand moon runes, like me. :)

I've been on an OG XBox kick lately too. I don't know if they've been mentioned, but here are a few I've been enjoying that were around $10 or less:

Burnout Series - I've owned Burnout 2 since it was new, but I think it was $20 then and *has* to be a sub$5 game now because it looks so dated. But its Crash Mode is second to none. Best pass-and-play party game around. Burnout 3: Takedown it also great. It looks *so* good, especially in 480p 16:9 mode.
Chronicles of Riddick - I've only gotten a couple of hours into this one, but it's pretty impressive so far. Graphically I think it's one of the better looking games, too.
Doom 3 - Especcially the Limited Edition version because it includes all the original Doom games (which are still fun!). I think it can be linked to another Xbox for co-op play, but haven't tried it yet.
Forza Motorsport - I still play the original one a ton. I've probably put more hours into this one than any of the FM games.
Jade Empire - A fun blend of Kung Fu, Bioware-style RPG, and shoot 'em up!
MechAssault games - both are awesome. I can't beat the final boss in part 2 but I can get *so clooose* so it's only a matter of time.
Ghost Recon - I think this game might have been the peak for Red Storm. After this, their games became more action-y run-and-gun-y. And it *can* be played in co-op via link cable, which is pretty cool.

Nice find! What a neat little adventure!
#176
Yep, I'll be bringing up some random stuff for trade as well. We're getting close!

That cassette tape artwork is awesome! I included video game music (and music/scenes ripped off anime vhs tapes) in mix tapes but never really did hand drawn art for the cases. I preferred to use digital software, and I bet it all looked super cheesy. :)
#178
Yeah, I'd totally be interested in this raffle!

Looks nice, but I'll wait for the PCE Works Deluxe box set.

Quote from: Nulltard on 03/23/2017, 05:43 PMSo are any techs going to be at MGC? Offering services?

I'm hoping to get my Duo component modded if possible. Or at the very least send it home with someone and save on shipping one way at least. :D
I know chop will be there one day (Sat. I think) but I don't know if he'll be doing any mod work. You could probably leave it with him at least. I have a TG CD-ROM that stopped spinning that I am thinking about leaving with him to fix when he has some free time.

$1 each God of War II (had a memory card in the case even), Onimusha Warlords, Onimusha 2, Onimusha 3.

Nothing amazing there, but I haven't played the Onimusha games in ages so what the hell. Mainly grabbed God of War II for the memory card.

Some huge ass retarded Tom Clancy Rainbow Six CE thing (6 games in it and a huge guide) for $10. One of my brothers is big on Clancy, so this will be a nice gift. Didn't bother to look at value online, but I figure this fucker can't even ship for $10.

Some wireless headphones I will probably gift for a dollar.
Nice! I have a friend who worked on the first God of War and I worked on Rainbow Six: Lockdown (a low point in the title's career).

I haven't picked up anything gaming related in awhile, but came across this for about $8 and couldn't say no.

I haven't played this in ages. I sold my U.S. copy probably 2 decades ago. It's still pretty fun! I was surprised that there's even a widescreen mode in the Options menu, though the HUD and cut-scenes are stretched.

I guess I've been on a Ghost in the Shell kick lately because I have the Laserdisc arriving shortly as well. Maybe it's because the movie is coming out soon. I know some of you are probably groaning, but I can't wait to see how it turns out. They posted the first 5 minutes today and it's straight out of the anime:

I never dreamed I would say that.

Edit: Oh thank cheezits... this is on PS2 and Wii as well.
Lol, the OG Xbox rocks!

I didn't know it came out on the PS2 either. I might pick up a copy to see if it runs any better (though then I'd lose all the neat graphical data I've created on the Xbox...).

There's a newer version on the Xbox 360 but it uses the Kinect to watch you. Eff that.

Quote from: guest on 03/21/2017, 02:46 PMYourself Fitness is actually supposed to be quite a solid game in terms of the weight loss genre.  I used a copy as well for a couple months before I was able to get a membership and it has just the right amount of diversity and interactivity.
It's got its fair share of bugs, but I really dig it.

It mixes up the workout routines based on what equipment you have and what you want to focus on. You can tell it if you have hand weights, an exercise ball, heart rate monitor, etc., and if you want to focus on weight loss, upper body, lower body, core, etc. Then you can mix it up by changing the location and background music so it never feels like you're doing the same thing. And it introduces new and more challenging exercises the longer you use it.

I really wished they had come out with a revised version that fixed some of the bugs though.

Quote from: khyron65 on 03/20/2017, 05:53 PMMy back is almost %100 but my weight is still the same!!! What will it take to get me to lose weight!!!
For me, I've used a combination of things, so if I slack in one area, I can pick up in another and continue to lose weight.

Probably one of the biggest influences has been using a calorie/exercise tracking app on my phone. There are a bunch out there, but I've been using "Lose It!" It really helps keep me in check. And it's free. It's got a barcode scanner so makes adding food fairly painless. And it links to Runkeeper.

So that's probably my number 2 helpful app. I go out for a walk *every day*. It doesn't matter if it's below freezing or raining or the weekend, I make time to go for a walk. I started at 2 miles and, until I recently hurt my hip, I was up to 3.5 miles on average. Usually on my lunch break at work I can fit in a 2+ mile walk. And on weekends I tend to shoot for more. I try to get in a 5k or 10k every weekend.

My knees aren't a big fan of running, so I stick to walking.

Tying into that, I have a cheap pedometer attached to my belt. I try to get 10-15k steps in every day. My work offers a wellness program and I generate lots of points just by walking every day. Every month or so I earn enough points to cash in for a $25 Amazon code, which is pretty slick.

Finally, I workout with the old Xbox game, Yourself Fitness almost every day. Sometimes it's only 15 minutes and sometimes it's an hour. Afterwards, I've gotten into the habit of doing crunches, pushups, and some weight lifting.

I don't always get all of these things in every day, but as long as they're fairly consistent, I can guarantee I'll lose 2-3 lbs a week.

Now I'm pretty much at my target weight so I've shifted a bit from lots of exercise to finding a diet I enjoy and can maintain that doesn't go nuts on calories and doing more weight training. But slow and steady wins the race in my book. I don't want to push myself and end up quitting it all. :)

My wife has also started exercising more since I've started doing this, and my son likes to keep me company during the Yourself Fitness sessions and he comes up with his own exercises so I've been lucky to have a supportive family.

My main push was to get to a healthy weight for MGC, so I'm hopeful that it'll continue once MGC has passed. :P

Quote from: Medic_wheat on 03/17/2017, 02:40 PMI have been playing mega man 2 a lot recently. Lovely game store is having a speed run contest tomorrow. Prize is $50 store creadit.

I don't know what to expect as I have never participated in this sort of contest previously. However, I currently have my speed run down to 32 minutes no continues. Not that great as speed runners who know all the glitch ways to by pass parts of the game could do the game in the low 20 ish minute mark. But for an average joe like me I fee good about my times. Here is hoping I don't fluffed butter it up when I have a group of people watching.
That's awesome! I don't think I've ever even finished Mega Man 2 (and I know it's considered one of the easier ones)!

Quote from: mackdangerI had absolutely nothing to do the other day so I played Neutopia I from start to finish in one sitting. Will probably tackle II here in a few days.
Good googly moogly. I miss days like that. :P

When I'm not playing Skies of Arcadia with the lil, I've gotten back into playing Morrowind (GotY) on the original Xbox. Still so addicting.
