Quote from: soop on 04/10/2018, 03:47 AMDoes anyone know if it could be improved upon?
Meh.. I'm sure that turd could be polished a little more.  I'd rather see different development team build it from scratch as an Arcade Card release.

Sapphire is great, my only knock on it is it's annoying sound effects.  It's like a couple notches below Rayxamber III in "pew-pew" annoyingness.

I see Retrogamecave offers PSU for the Supergrafx:

http://www.retrogamecave.com/shop/4577155957/supergrafx-power-adapter/11230712

I've never bought anything from these guys, so can't vouch for the quality.

Get an Everdrive.  It's the best cart you can buy for the system.

Quote from: imparanoic on 02/09/2017, 08:53 PMdoes it justify the high price for the pc engine version of this game?, now that's hard question
Hell to the no.  eBay sellers are on crack.

The PCE Port is better because it is HOT WILD.

I'd way for Kiwami and I say this as a huge fan of the series.
Word.  The first one is pretty rough after playing the later installments.

Vanguard for the Atari 2600 was a bitch in some spots.
#10
I dare someone to call that number and try to place an order.
#11
I thoroughly enjoyed my Panasonic FZ-10, but as mentioned a lot of the good games can be found on other systems(and they usually play better).
#12
That's what I'm talking about.  I love me some Barbarian.
#13
Interesting.  I think I'll take a shit while listening to Double Dragon II tonight.

Off-Topic / Re: Whopper vs. Big Mac

I prefer the Big Mac.  Whoppers have a slight ammonia-like smell that turns me off.

Quote from: Tsavathay on 10/28/2016, 07:36 PMNeed some advice doujindance had a duo-r for sale right now. It's been goin up and down off eBay.  I want my first investment to be a good lasting one.  I've read some feedback on forums.... should I wait for future opportunity on either ifu or duo-r?

I def want rgb mod.
Avoid doujindance like the plague.  You can buy a stock system and have one of the guys here on the forums mod it.

Welcome to the boards.

PS: Big Mac > Whopper

Quote from: Otaking on 10/10/2016, 02:05 PMEver since I picked one up near it's release my favourite console of all time is the Japanese PC Engine Duo.

That's my favorite as well.  I like the old-school sexy.

It's roading a little faster for me.

Quote from: esteban on 10/01/2016, 05:11 AMHonest question: how many folks here had Splatterhouse at a local arcade/deli/whatever back in the day?
Never in my life have I seen a Splatterhouse cab.

Tenchi is a good game, but it really could have used an AC treatment.

Quote from: tbone3969 on 07/22/2016, 06:57 AMI've never seen a PC Engine Duo that can do that.
It would be quite the neat trick though. OP, be sure to let me know if you find this magical duo.

Keith Courage
I have one.  I'll gladly trade it for a "self healing/modding" GT or Express.
#24
I saw it in the theater and thought it was a good movie.  I'm looking forward to the sequel.
#25
I gave the nod to NEC.  Developers made better use of the platform.  Had the Sega CD received the same level of support it would have been top dog.
#26
Thanks for setting up this store.  I swing by next time I need a part or two.

Quote from: TR0N on 05/23/2016, 03:17 PMYou want it on pce because of it's theme right !?
One of the many reasons.  An arranged soundtrack option would be sick.

That game is getting ridiculous.  There's another one posted for $199.  What a turd that game is.

Quote from: WoodyXP on 05/21/2016, 01:04 PMI'd also like to add Golden Axe.  A proper port of the game would be most excellent.
There was a project some time ago, but it's been ages since anything has been mentioned...
That's the one I'm keeping my fingers crossed for.  It looks great from what little I've seen of it.

1. NARC
2. Smash TV
3. Roadblasters

Quote from: SignOfZeta on 05/06/2016, 06:56 PMPrices are going crazy guys. I hope those who bought into this kind of shit when it was affordable are at least grateful they got in when they did (and not too pissed off that their collecting has probably come to a halt due to it just being unaffordable now.)
Believe me, I do.  I remember when these things sold for 100 yen a pop.

Image Fight is brutal for me, but I keep coming back.  Same can be said about Image Fight II.
#34
Gradius II.  It's the only game out of the three that hasn't burned me out.

Quote from: BigusSchmuck on 04/22/2016, 08:22 PMWhy didn't NEC just wait to release the Supergrafx here in the US instead of just releasing the Turbo? I mean aside of the localization and such there was only like 4 months between release dates? It couldn't have been that much more expensive to produce the Supergrafx here in the U.S and hell you could even had older pc engine games to fill in the void until more Supergrafx games were available. Just a weird thought...
NEC didn't give a damn about the US market.  They wrote the Turbografx off as "dead on arrival" before it even went on sale.

Quote from: wilykat on 04/21/2016, 11:49 PMYou forgot another benefit: still can't play Altered Beast :D
Yeah, go ahead and add that to list.  I think I'm one of the very few who still enjoys that game.  It's the only reason I keep my 1.0 card around.

Hahahah.. this thread made my night.

Quote from: Report2Marty on 04/21/2016, 02:32 PMJust wondering if some of you could chime in on the benefits/awesome games that would come with purchasing an Arcade Pro Card for my cd rom2.  D
Benefits:

1. You will make your PCE capable of playing a small handful of kickass games.
2. The ladies will flock to you and try to have your babies.

Awesome Games:

1. Neo Ports
2. Sapphire

I have one but I rarely use it.  I only use it when I want to restrict myself from the turbo.

Quote from: nopepper on 04/14/2016, 09:29 PMThe only game in the library that disappointed me was Blazing Lazers, which is just too much of a bore to get to the good sections later in the game.
That blew my mind.  But I respect your opinion.

Quote from: guest on 04/10/2016, 10:13 PMHave you been let down by every other game on the console?
I'm not qualified to answer your first question, but I will say I was let down by Rondo.  It's a great game, but when I first played it I thought to myself "So this is the game everybody is bouncing off their cocks about?  Give me a break!".
#43
Good story.  Welcome to the boards.

Quote from: sanjo on 04/11/2016, 07:35 PManyone have a large pce-cd collection can tell how well their cd's have held up?
Mine are going strong.  No problems.  Aside from Shenmue II for Dreamcast I've never had an optical disc rot on me.

Quote from: sanjo on 04/11/2016, 07:35 PMalso any thing else I should keep in mind when buying the Duo?
Hookers and blow.

Quote from: sanjo on 04/11/2016, 07:35 PMI've read some guides that the Duo R is the best one to go for as the other ones have problems with their caps.
thanks!
If you don't want to mess with caps get an R or RX.  I prefer the DUO myself.

Quote from: guyjin on 04/10/2016, 07:14 PMWhat game do you pop in?
Air Zonk.  But if I had access to a CD ROM I'd play Nexzr.  Show those bitches what's up.

If the previous bids fall through I'll trade you two AV6's for the RX pad.

Am I the only one who prefers Summer Carnival to the original?
Quote from: EmperorIng on 04/03/2016, 08:51 PMI am just here to gloat that on a fluke bid I just won a copy of Summer Carnival without the manual for $35.00.

For once, getting a game for a price it feels like it's worth (might be wrong).

I'm sure you know this, but your only chances are auctions, Yahoo Japan, or a kind soul here.
That's a steal.  I may be in the minority, but I prefer SC to the original.  No cutscenes in original mode, and carnival mode FTW.
