Buy/Sell/Trade / WTB: CPS2 SF2X/ST
07/21/2017, 07:13 PM
So I figure this is a longshot but who knows, maybe I'll get lucky.  Every fall I help run a fighting game tournament in Dallas, Absolute Battle.  We have grown every year and are now a relatively large event; last year we had 700 unique entrants.  This is the 8th one and every year we've had more games and I'd like to continue adding in both new and classic fighting games.

So the matter at hand?  I'm hoping to run a side tournament for ST and I'd like a copy of the game to do so.  I checked ebay first and the only one on there seems quite shady to me particularly for the price tag.  Is there any chance that anyone here has a copy of ST/SF2X that they'd be willing to sell?  I have a US style A board but if I could only get a B board from some weird region that would likely be acceptable anyway.

http://io9.gizmodo.com/netflix-has-announced-a-castlevania-tv-show-for-2017-1792131221

The title of the article says just about everything that is known.  I think it would be cool if this did well and then you could have like, a different CV game or two be a different season.  You could have one of Trevor, Sypha, Grant, and Alucard teaming up.  Then another one of Simon thinking he killed Dracula only to find out that he's been cursed and needs to roam Transylvania to destroy the remnants of Dracula to end his suffering.  Dracula X could take place and then Symphony of the night, etc.  With as much lore as exists for the series and the excellent gothic/moody atmosphere I think this sounds rather exciting and am looking forward to hearing more.

As long as I'm posting stuff about Castlevania, here's an interview with a couple of the composers.

General Gaming / Snes cd add on
07/03/2015, 02:26 AM
A friend of  mine linked me to this gallery here:

There are a few interesting images of a snes cd.  I was always fascinated by the idea of that particular upgrade.  I liked my super nintendo but wished that it had the added capabilities of the additional storage space optical media would have provided.  FMV games would likely look much better with the snes' larger palette, might have gotten CD versions of RPGs that I had enjoyed, etc.

Anyway, I don't know what the deal is with these pictures but at the very least it looks intriguing.

And then ban the banning banners who banned bans for banning bans.

Yeah, I want to own Sapphire but don't want to pay money for a real version.  This conundrum leads me to the only logical conclusion of buying a pressed repro.  Does anyone have one they wouldn't mind selling?

Thanks a bunch.

Buy/Sell/Trade / Found! Dracula X
05/09/2014, 07:15 AM
I've been meaning to get a copy of this for a long while and have been price watching it for months.  Ebay prices have doubled on it lately so I'd rather not go there.  As recently as February they were selling there for under $100.

I was hoping to get a copy for about $80 but perhaps that's a bit too optimistic?  I don't need a spine card but I would like manual and case.

Congratulations EvilEvoIX. I'll pm you for details.

Jesus Christ, loose on ebay for over $50!?  I MUST BE MAAAAAD!  THAT'S LIKE 1% OF A MAGICAL CHASE!

So, rules are pretty simple.  I'll wait a while until I remember "Oh yeah, I was raffling that one game off!" at which point I'll say "Yo, last call" or something and then roll some dice or pull names from a hat or do something else and then some lucky person will get a copy of Devil's Crush.  IT COULD BE YOU!

Entering is an agreement not to resell; I'm giving it away because it's a really good game and I'd like somebody who wants a copy to have a copy.  If you find out that you are a loser who's not cool enough to own Devil's Crush (because why else would you want to get rid of it!?) raffle it yourself or give it away to someone from here.  The game is loose, please don't enter if you already own a copy.  Beyond that, uh, we'll say 200 post count and have been around for ~a year.

Good luck!

Ghideon Zhi at http://agtp.romhack.net/ says he's hoping to have the Ys 5 patch released on Thanksgiving day.

This gives me one extra thing to be thankful for at dinner!  I've been wanting to play Ys 5 in English since 19-something when first I read about it in a magazine.  After 4 didn't get released on Turbo CD or SNES I came to the assumption that Ys 5 wouldn't be released in the states.  Time proved me right of course.

I've been looking forward to an English translation for years and at long last the entire series will be playable in English.

I got a loose copy of Ninja Spirit and I figure I'd offer it up to somebody who needed it.  Don't have the game and want to enter?  Just tell me how being a ninja would help your day to day life and make you a better person.  Winner must agree to not resell it; if you wind up with an extra copy someday raffle the loose one off.

Entry ends May 10'th.  I'll randomly determine the winner after the cutoff.  I'll cover shipping/handling.  Good luck!

So I've never had a Duo before.  I had my turbo cd for years and years eventually with the super system card so I didn't exactly see the point of getting one.  A friend of mine was moving and found a Duo tucked away that he hadn't used in forever.  Knowing my love of all things turbo, rather than selling it on ebay he gave it to me.

It's far and away the handsomest console I've ever owned.

Anyway, I've got one (hopefully slight) problem; I've don't have an AC Adaptor for the unit.  Is there anything weird going on here that I should know about, or can I just go buy a 10v 1 amp ac adaptor and go to town over here?

So I was in a used game store that had a small stack of PC Engine CD games that I was looking over.  I picked up a couple, Cosmic Fantasy 4-1 and La Valeur for $20 and $15 respectively.  The reason I created the thread though...

I was looking at a copy of Cosmic Fantasy 3 and thought it was odd looking.  The manual was black and white except for the Cosmic Fantasy logo but was in full color inside.  I looked on the internet and every copy of the game I could find a picture of was in a multi-disk case that had a full color cover.  The manual inside the multidisk case looks the same, but obviously there's artwork on the outside of the case that's full color.  Meanwhile, this game's case was a single case with no artwork on the outside.  Were there two different releases to the game?  Did somebody take out most of the guts of a game and put it in a new jewelcase or something?

So I was in Seattle a bit ago visiting some friends and they took me to a used game store, Pink Godzilla.  Lo and behold, they had a loose super system card for $60.  So I picked it up, and went on with my vacation.  A couple of weeks later I'm back at home so I try the thing out and it doesn't work.  After booting up the system the screen just shows white and nothing else happens, the CD never even spins.  My first assumption is that either it's broken or I have one from another region.  Well, there's writing on the back of the hu card that says the same stuff as the system card that came with my Turbo CD except for 3 lines about patents:
"U.S. Patents #4,462,076
#4,442,486 #4,454,594
Canada Patent #1,183,276

At this point I go online and look for some pictures to see if the American version has any of that stuff written on the back.  I could only find pictures of the front and discovered one thing, the Japanese version has an icon in the lower right whereas the American version does not.  The card I purchased does not have said icon, so at least I've got that going for it.

Anyway, does an American Syper System Card include the US patent stuff on the back?  Do I have like, a PAL system card or something weird?  Is the thing just broken?

Thanks for your help.
