10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Buy/Sell/Trade / FO: PC Engine Duo RX
11/17/2018, 10:25 PM
Hello everyone, I just got back home from a long project and decided to sell my Duo RX with Bomberman and Cadash. I am more content with my Laseractive for TG16/PCE gaming so I hope I can sell it to somewho would get more use out of it.

Also that Little Samson is for offer as well. Planning to sell my NES collection soon.

Does anyone have the JB Harold Blue Chicago Blues game? I just want to know if some has it since I cannot find one.
I have both the MegaLD and LD-ROM2 versions.
I didn't realized they made a LD-ROM2 version. I am also looking for Don Quixote but you have to make sure to get the US release for English.
Yeah, both of the JP versions for Blue Chicago Blues (MegaLD and LDROMROM) have the English options as well, it's pretty easy to switch when you start the game.
Speaking of which, I know there was supposed to be a MegaLD release of Manhattan Requiem but never happened. If it wasn't the fact that MR was only available for the TG16 unit, I wouldn't spent the time and money for it.

Speaking of unreleased games, I wonder if anyone have any prototypes or evidence of protos of Laseractive games.

Sorry about the late post, I cleaned the system very nice, inside and out, and the controller, thought the screws were rusted and one stripped that I had to drill out. Problem now is I have a garbled graphics and not sure if its a chip issue or RF output but I think is the chip issue. I have to leave for a project tomorrow its going to be shelved for awhile.

That nasty TG16 I found in a barn had a Keith Courage in it. I want to say that most Keith Courages game usually come with a TG16

Quote from: guest on 04/02/2018, 10:08 PMHere's an old thread of his with a picture of some of them. His current price might be different now. You might have to pm him to see one of his pics of it on a TG-16. It's the best video mod available and much better than RGB mods by people like doujindance.

Thanks! That looks like a contender, if I ever get that system running properly. I just need to get a new tip for my solder tool to get the stubborn shielding off the complete cleaning. The RF output on the TG16 seen its better days so I might as well get the AV option then replace it.

Quote from: guest on 04/02/2018, 02:33 PMmickris sells RGB modified Tennokoe IIs. It's an official device with a plastic shell that can be used on a PC Engine/SuperGrafx or TG-16 system and adds backup saving to HuCard games.
Mickris a member or a store? I want to see one on a TG-16 and price its going for.

Quote from: Keith Courage on 04/02/2018, 06:20 AMThese are a much cheaper alternative to a turbo booster or DB electronics one.

user choijimmy here sells them. So if you get in touch with him he might be willing to sell one to you for a little less than ebay price. Never hurts to ask.
Do they come with a plastic cover or could I get one somewhere? I am all about practical solutions but a naked circuit board doesn't do it for me.

QuoteLol post the pics here u posted to NA. The dirtiest TG16 ever

Hello everyone, I am still busy trying to get this clean and running but I wanted to show my pickup from last week. I was doing project on a abandon farm property and saved this nasty TG 16 from a barn full of garbage along with a NES MAX controller. While most people would ignore it, I couldn't pass up rescuing a TG16 especially how rare and pricey they are. Too bad no other games were there but I did the controller underneath cardboard the day after.

I want to show off the finish product but its still a work in progress. It turns on and plays with intact music and gameplay but 60% of the graphics are garbled.  I need to get a hotter solder iron to open the metal shielding to clean the circuit board and the card slot as this is a extremely dirty TG16. At least I got the controller all good especially with dealing with the rusted stripped screws.

Wish me luck with this project!

Hello everyone, I haven't post here in away but I came across a Turbo Grafx 16 that I found in an abandon barn (going to post about it once I get it cleaned, really dirty). However, I cannot stand the lack of AV and though maybe I can find someone here with with a Turbo Booster for a reasonable price. I could do a CD unit but they are super pricey these days but I could be interested.

This game and Legendary Axe II are my two must haves in owning some TG16 games. (I also want Jackie Chan Kung Fu and Dragon Curse but those are too price for me.)
#17
Too bad it took them to put it on after Nintendo discontinued the Wii U, what do you expect from Nintendo's digital service.
#18
On the subject of Taito games, I felt most of there games on the Genesis were underwhelming. Kind of a shame since they made some amazing games for the NES but could do the same afterwards.
#19
Its hard to debate what is the greatest game on a format that manage to produce CD format games right compared to other systems. I voted for YS 1 & 2 just because it a killer launch game when it was released and still enjoyable to this day.
#20
Fighting Street has my vote. Not only its a hard to play game, it was a port of arcade game with crummy controls that the developers should have improved on then try to mimic.
#21
This thread is lucky that Ai Cho Aniki wasn't released in the US or this would be a landslide vote.
#23
Hot dang, first the Shining Force 3 trilogy, Dragon Force 2, and now this, so happy to have a modded Saturn.  =D>

Quote from: MNKyDeth on 12/16/2016, 11:04 PMMy honest opinion....

If you don't know what your looking for get a turbo everdrive.  I assume they should still fit in the laseractive port if they don't have the shell or USB port.

Then you can try all the games you want and see what ones you like.
Cd-rom games just find ones that look interesting,  burn some discs to play them,  try them out.
I do have an everdrive for my RX Duo and was able to enjoy the great games on the CD by burning them on discs. I just been on this forum recently and I won't mind owning the games that I actually enjoy for it.

Hello again everybody, I decided I would like to own the copies of games that I really like.

Jackie Chan Action Kung Fu
Legendary Axe 2
Slaughterhouse
YS 1&2
Shadow of Beast
Cho Aniki

Also, I won't mind owning the arcade card for my system as well. Thanks for Reading!

Thanks for Turbo Fan for selling me copies Legenary Axe 1, Alien Crush, and Bonk!

I just got offered a US NEC PAC that been recapped and has the controller for $615. Now I kind of want to take up that offer.
#27
Too bad you weren't selling a Japanese PC Engine PAC, no way I can afford the US version but if you want to work something out let me know.

Silly USA name change does not exist.
Road PROSECUTOR sounds so much more bad ass than blaster.
More like Road Prostituter, amirite?!  :-"
That sounds amazing and with all the pr0n games on LA, it would fit right in.
You got to love a system when its library consists of Voyeur and edutainment. I am just dying to play my copy of Manhattan Requiem and it seems like I will end up getting a Chicago Blues before getting that NEC for a reasonable price.

Quote from: BlueBMW on 11/29/2016, 06:55 PMActual Laseractive controllers add a bit, so the $400 shipped is probably about right.  Theyre just uncommon.  There is one ebay seller, thekobos who can usually find them.  If you can look him up and shoot him a message with what you're looking for he may be able to help.  He's in Japan and can sometimes find stuff for a decent price.

http://www.ebay.com/usr/thekobos
This is the guy that helped me find some of my LA stuff, I second the recommendation.  Prices quoted are all pretty accurate, but LA is a weird system in that there are likely only a few buyers for the stuff at any one time.  Due to this, prices will fluctuate more than for the more mainstream stuff.  For example, if there are only 2 guys actively searching out Zapping TV but they both really want it, price goes up.  Then after guy #1 buys the game, price goes down because no more demand.  I've seen this happen several times.

The best thing I can say is to get all the cheap games.  Stuff like Rocket Coaster, Virtual Cameraman 2, and Pyramid Patrol are all pretty good.  Time Gal and Road Prosecutor are great, but most people overlook the also fun cheaper stuff.
I have Pyramid Patrol and Rocket Coaster and they are fun games especially Rocket Coaster. I have also Hyperion but I can't seem to avoid the one kill boss attacks since it hard to figure where the FMV hits your ship. I also have the US JB Harold Manhattan Requiem that I am dying to play with the NEC PAC, I really like Murder Club on the TGCD so I am hoping play it when I am hope for Christmas.

Quote from: BlueBMW on 11/29/2016, 05:13 PMA JP pac should cost you $250 to $300 depending of if its been recapped or not.  A US pac will run probably $700+ these days, maybe more.
The most I want to pay is $400 shipped for a recapped Japanese one with the controller. The only Japanese one on ebay is for $435 with just the PAC. I did get an offer for a US PAC for 650$ recapped with the controller but I don't really want to pay the extra hundred dollars for it.

Quote from: esteban on 11/28/2016, 08:12 PMI have a PAC for you. However, as you know, it is rather pricey. In fact, I currently have US PAC "like new" boxed. I will not humor low bids. Check out my profile "BurgerKong" at NintendoAge. Send me a message here (serious inquiries only).

Thank you,

BurgerThong
Thanks but I just want one, probably the Japanese one, with or without the controller for a reasonable price so I won't humor you.

Hello. First time user and owner of awesome Duo RX, happy to be on this website. I just acquired a Pioneer Laseractive awhile ago with the Sega PAC and now looking for the NEC PAC for a reasonable price. I rather get the Japanese one but if possible I could buy the US version for a reasonable price. I have good feedback on NintendoAge. Thanks for looking!
