Some sort of guide to dispel some of the rarity myths might be a worthwhile endeavor even if it doesn't include prices.

I have a Core Grafx sitting here very lonely, it'd be good to hook it up to one of the flat screens with this or use it for recordings. Count me in plz.For the SNES/Genesis/MS that output RGB w/o a mod then this would be expensive. For the TG16 or PC Engine that would normally require a mod to get RGB i think the price is pretty fair and would not require you having to ship off your system to get it done. There was/is a kickstarter for component cables for the SNES/Genesis. I've been meaning to suggest to Turbokon to use his to RGB to component board and make some component cables. I for example would be interested in some for the Saturn.
Quote from: Joe Redifer on 02/26/2015, 07:14 PMFirst of all I don't think we should presume what decision Nightwolve should or should not make. That's 100% up to him and nobody else's bidness.I was also surprised by how prevalent the repros were at Retropalooza. Oddly enough there were no flash carts anywhere. It was really eye opening as to how this hobby has become more about showing off than playing games. If you were interested in playing games you'd get an everdrive, if you want to show off on Facebook and to your friends you buy a repro.
Secondly, it's easy to spew hatred for this kind of thing in the safety of an online forum. But do any of you and I mean ANY OF YOU go up to the countless dealers selling repros at game conventions and give them any sort of shit at all about selling stuff that doesn't belong to them? Do you ask them if they procured permission to use the particular English patch they're using? Why not? When I was at Retropalooza I was blown away by the sheer amount of repros for sale. It almost made wandering around the dealer floor less exciting so I generally just stayed put at my booth.

Quote from: esteban on 02/20/2015, 07:53 AMI could probably find a better comparison but I'm in a hurry at the time of posting. Kenshiro is the "Fist of the Northstar"Quote from: technozombie on 02/19/2015, 11:48 PMIt makes a lot more sense that Guy looks just like Kenshiro, now that I know it was voiced by the same guy.Linky for the lazy and stoopid
Kenshiro? Like Barbie-San and Kenshiro?
Quote from: SignOfZeta on 02/17/2015, 04:39 PMSee, that's an all too common misconception, IMO. You only *think* the plot is amazing because you can't read it. If you could read it you'd probably find that the storyline and voice acting are as lame as every other video game out there. You can probably make some shit up as you go along that's better than the real thing. It's kind of like reading a book, then they go and make a movie and the casting is complete shit, with characters nothing like you imagined them to be. It's better when you make it up yourself.
Quote from: guest on 02/18/2015, 11:02 AMI don't get the peeps that say they want the old games because new stuff is too violent and graphic. New stuff is more detailed and higher resolution, but can anyone really argue that stuff like Doom, Splatterhouse, or Mortal Kombat were G rated fun for everyone? Such games have always been a part of gaming; similarly, 'clean' games like Mario or Kirby are still available today.Well people tend to remember things through "rose colored glasses." An example would be the Goonies movie. I think every kid of that era watched that movie. So awhile back my wife and I were watching it with our kids and we're like whoa where did all this bad language and sexual innuendo come from lol.
Quote from: EvilEvoIX on 02/12/2015, 10:59 AMAll the Play N Trades in my area have closed. It is depressing but shows that Retro Game collecting cannot support brick and mortar businesses any more. What is really amazing that these is a TON on inventory in the Possession of Game Stop (Formerly EB, Babages, Funcoland, Etc). That stuff needs to come out and flood the market. My only fear would be like $10 Mario Duckhunt games.I read where GameStop was thinking of getting back in the retro business but I don't think they have a bunch of old stock. I worked for GameStop when they stopped accepting trades on nes/SNES/Genesis and we didn't ship anything back to them we just stopped taking trades and sold down our inventory until it was gone.

Quote from: tbone3969 on 02/07/2015, 12:43 PMI can't seem to burn this game properly. I am trying to play it on my PC Engine DUO. It burns with the English text but no voice at all. The characters mouths move but nothing comes out. I have downloaded an ISO image from The ISO Zone and I even English dubbed patched the original Jap Ys IV as well. Still no luck. I think most people are emulating this on their PCs. Has anyone successfully burnt and played this English dubbed version on their DUO? I am using Image burn to burn my discs. Maybe I need to switch to Nero or Alcohol. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.1) " I have downloaded an ISO image from The ISO Zone " Does this mean you downloaded a pre-patched/dub ISO and it still doesn't work?

Quote from: PCEngineHell on 02/04/2015, 08:45 PMWith all the phantasms that seem to have appeared over night in their stores to haunt the lowly but highly witty night shift guy, I'm surprised you managed to last that long. Surely every store they had was also haunted too. When I worked there Playstation was the big system, Dreamcast was out but didn't command the shelf space of Ps1. Anyways, we always gutted a copy to put on the floor, just as they do now. One day this little girl comes in and wants to buy the last copy Mary Kate and Ashley: Winners Circle. Oddly enough the girl seems too young to be walking around the mall by herself but I think, "Oh well she's got money that's all that matters." The next morning I open the store and I'm going about my routine alphabetizing games, and holy shit what do I find, Mary Kate and Ashley: Winners Circle. I know I sold the last one, so I think, "Well her parents must have made her return it," and I go about my business. So later that day the same little girl walks in, and proceeds to re-buy the game. I didn't ring her up but I saw that it was the same girl. The next day I was off, then the following day I work the evening shift. So I was talking with my co-worker who opened the store that morning and jokingly told him about that girl buying the game and then coming back the next day and buying it again. He looks at me like WTF? "She came in yesterday while you were off and again this morning." I begin furiously digging through the return log and looking up past transactions and it was never returned. Just bought over and over. The next day the same there it is, on the shelf waiting for the creepy girl to come back and buy it again, but this time I get it and I break the disc in half and mark it as defective in inventory. So later on, like clockwork she comes in and she picks up the case which I forgot take off the shelf. I then say,"You can't buy that the disc is broken." She then looks me dead in the eye and says, its ok I'll still pay Tree Fiddy.

Quote from: guest on 01/14/2015, 09:50 AMIs this a big thing? People sit around watching people play video games on the internet? One of the most subscribed guys on YouTube is a guy who does "let's play" videos.
I've never tried it before, so maybe I just don't get it... guess I should stop using free time to play the games and break out the popcorn?
Quote from: NightWolve on 01/07/2015, 04:48 PMLol I haven't read those boxes in years. My kids lime to watch me play because I can breeze through the game and I know where basically every secret is. Its one of the few games I'd say I've mastered.Quote from: technozombie on 01/07/2015, 12:54 AMThe levels with secret exits are red on the map. If it's not red then there is only one exit. Just go to a level that's red, if it doesn't branch on the map then you've only reached one exit so far.Yeah, I know - That's an in-game protip you get when hit one of those info boxes or something. ;)
QuoteWas trying to do it without any guides, it's just that after you've beaten it and you go back to each and every level to scour it for the secret paths, alternate exits via the key, or whatever, it gets sooo damn boring... I never used to do this as a kid, I wanted to just get to the next game and enjoy something new; beating the game was considered "completed" as far as I was concerned back then. The fast paced nature with renting something every week to beat it though got me eventually regretting, thinking that I was missing out on the "full experience," not really savoring each game, so I slowed my gaming pace down, starting buying more games to own them and fully play them in time, but then I never recovered, then college came, first job, etc. In hindsight, considering all that I'm missing out on these days, I had the right idea as a kid seems like. Heh.This is a very minor spoiler if you're not using a guide but.............
