Hello Everyone,

I've been out the PCE loop and inactive on the forum for a couple years.

Long story short, is it possible to mod a Core Grafx (i or II) with a switch to play both Turbo and PCE Hucards? Are there any recommendations where to have the mod done?

Thanks!

Hello!  For sale I have a PC Engine Duo-RX system.  The system comes with original AC Adapter, original arcade 6 pad, A/V cable.  This system also has a push button region mod so that you can play US and Japanese HuCards, S-Video and RCA direct out, and a SCART output. Also included is the original box and foam.  The foam has seen better days.   I purchased this system from this forum last year.  Sadly, it sits unused :( Every thing is in tip top shape, the region mod, direct AV, and S-Video all work nicely.  The system is in really nice shape, no yellowing.  Same with the controller.  Asking $315 including shipping in the lower 48.  System will be responsibly packed and shipped USPS priority.  PM if interested!

DUDE! Welcome back. Remember you had the wireless PCE controllers, like... two or three sets? Now you're re-purchasing a console? DAMN :pcgs:

Actually, I have horrible memory, but I do remember something vaguely about PCE controllers.

GODSPEED.
Good to be back.  Yep, this shit is like crack to me.  Consider this a relapse, thanks Nintendo for giving up on the Virtual Console...

And yes, I had the wireless controllers and taps, a couple sets.

Got my Turbo CD AC adapter from Retro Game Cave and it's good work.  The AC Adapter is black and has a "Turbo Grafx CD" label on it.  I'll likely buy one as back up for my Duo-RX.

Like the title says, looking for a US version of Vasteel.  Hoping for one in very good/excellent condition with original case and instructions.  Thanks!

Hello Everyone,

Just getting the word out that I'm in the market for one or two Arcade Pad 6 controllers.  These are the controllers that came with the Duo-RX.  My son has taken a liking to all things PCE /TG16 so its time for him to join in the 2 player games!
#14
For $18 I'm going to give it a shot.  Thanks everyone for the input.

have any of you fine folks purchases or used an AC adapter from Retro Game Cave for a Turbo system?  I am truing to revive my kid sisters Turbo CD system and need an AC adapter.  The retro game cave adapters seem reasonably priced.

I've been in touch with Dean (D-Lite) who thinks he might possibly have one. I'm waiting to hear back but that might be someone to reach out to.
IS D-Lite still active on Multimods.com?  I sent him a email through that site.  If not, I'll hit him up with a PM.

Everyone who has paid has had their items shipping.  Those folks state side should start receiving them soon!  A couple more items left.  Get 'em before ebay does.

Does no one want this awesome cordless tap with TWO controllers?

There is a screen shot in the Turbo Force Vol 1 Issue 4 Spring 1993.  I should probably scan an post it before I mail it off...

Make an offer.  Some stuff I thought was worthless went for $20.  Stuff I thought was worth millions sold for $2.  Make an offer.

Interesting tid bit, as I package off stuff I'm selling, I flipped through the pages of Turbo Force Vol 1 Issue 4 and noticed there is a screen shot of Dangerous Journeys in the 'Coming Attractions' section for the Winter CES 1993.

Of all the goofy things I've done in life, being part of this thread is certainly one of the most memorable.

We have a sales campaign in my region at work, and we have a customer category called "85% probability."  I squirted coffee out my nose when I read the power point deck for the first time.

This thread always has, and always will be, a day brightner.

There are some homebrew adapters available.  I think Red Ghost has some listed on his website...

Sweet.  The price is so good I may buy another one (as I was contemplating selling the one I have already).  NCS is still rocking after all these years, and I love their random sales.  I picked up a NIB Tennokoe 2 for $40 six weeks ago.

Quote from: guest on 04/23/2010, 04:09 PMThere are two memorable moments that immediately spring to mind: Ys Book I & II's opening sequence with a stormy sky over Darm tower nearly made me jizz in my pants the first time I saw it, and if robots had tear ducts, I would've cried when Laura bought the farm in Cosmic Fantasy 2.
That whole Laura thing still chokes me up almost 20 years later.

Quote from: JoshTurboTrollX-16 on 04/20/2010, 09:52 AMpersonally for my kids to experience Turbo, I set up two soft modded Xbox's put MednefenX on them and used TURBORIP and TocFixer to play all the best Turbo CD games directly off the harddrive.

Otherwise let them play your CD-r's on Magic Engine on an old PC or something....

I'm keeping CD-r's away from any Turbo CD's or Duo's in the future... THEY ARE CD-ROM KILLERS!!!
Is there a tutorial for this?  And is it an Xbox or and Xbox 360?  Either way, I have both and LOVE this idea.  The Turbo's and the Core Grafices are built like tanks, but the Duo's are a gentle, testy breed.
You can soft mod it, but it requires a bit of knowledge and finesse.....

or you can do the mod-chip method instead.
Xbox or Xbox 360?

Quote from: guest on 04/20/2010, 10:30 AMExcept for those made by Taiyo Yuden, of course; they've been rebranded by all sorts of other companies (Sony, TDK, Maxell, Fuji, etc.), though I unfortunately don't know how to identify 'em without sticking 'em in a drive.
I don't either, that's why I only get the actual name brand ones.  No sense buying the other brands on the off chance they're rebranded. :)

Another pretty solid plan, on paper at least, is to teach your kids how to take good care of CD-Roms!  Maybe get them started on cheap, useless CD-ROMs like your backups you make, or something.

I don't have kids so I don't know how much of a PITA is to teach these things... but I am thankful I was taught how to handle CDs when I was realllly young.

Otherwise my Sega CD, DOS CD-ROM, and PSX libraries may not be so shiney and useful now :)

I use Roxio Blu-Ray and DVDFab.  Other than the click, click, burn those interfaces offer - I'm pretty ignorant with backing up media.  TOCFIX a rip on the .CUE sounds like a bunch of 'thrashers' talking at a skate park to me...

Ok, so the search function in this forum is about as helpful as an abstinence program in a whore house.  So please forgive me that I grew tired of searching "19 percent matches" that are 4 years old to answer these questions.

My eight year old son is getting into the Turbo.  I want to back up games he enjoys playing like Dungeon Explorer 2 and Bonk 3 SuckyCD so he can scratch the daylights out of those like he does his Wallace & Gommit and Hiayo Miyazaki DVD's.

1.  What's the best process to back up CD games?  I have a DVD burner and a Blu-Ray burner on my 1 year old PC so I can do disc to disc.

2.  What's the best program to use to back up Turbo Games?

2a.  How do I do it?

2b.  Can I save the game data on my hard drive to poop out another copy when the back up inevitably becomes scratched?

3.  Is there blank media that is better quality than Verbatim? - there's some Japanese CD-R I can't rember Tayao Yupi or something that I obviously can't remember the name...

I just want to be able to back up my games.

Thanks

She throws them away not knowing they're rechargeable.  She really doesn't throw them away.  She puts them in a calf skin purse, drives her hummer H2 to the nearest nature preserve and looks for the first water table she can contaminate and throws the batteries there.

Bonk 3 SCD is the Coca-Cola II (aka "New" Coke) of the Turbo Grafx 16 world.  I just dated myself with that one.

It sounds like he has a plan in mind... a reserve or a buy it now after getting an idea what it is worth, not that there is anything wrong with that & i could be wrong but i would not get your hopes up robnava.
Seems to be a lot of "price checking" going on around here.  More like 'cup checking' if you ask me...

Quote from: offsidewing on 04/11/2010, 09:46 PMActually, they're pretty good with batteries.  They take AAA and have a small, but usable "On/Off" switch on the bottom of the controller.  There is no lag and they're well built.  This seller typically has a couple of extra wireless controller for $25 to $30 a piece.  I'm thinking it's about 20-25 hours of serious button mashing with cheapo AAA batteries.
I buy the cheapest batteries possible.  My wife, the one with the masters in mechanical engineering from U of M, throws away rechargeable batteries ALL THE TIME.  Cheapo BOGO 16 packs at CVS for $6 please.  I had to buy a Harmony One remote with the built in battery because she kept throwing out the two dollar a piece rechargable AAA I kept in the Harmony 550 when the lost charge.  Seriously, the girl could build a nuclear missle equipped mecha-godzilla from a 1972 zenith television, but she throws out rechargable batteries without realizing it ALL THE TIME.

My replies to this type of comment typically result in emails from Nanto.  It is with much regret that I excercise some self restraint and not comment on sloppy titties or how bad nipples can ruin good boobs.

Oh, and I believe there is even some difference in the Turbo Taps as well.  15 years ago I swapped a PCE Tap cable for the TG one in a Turbo Tap.  With out soldiering, it essentially became a one controller TG to PCE converter.  Two weeks ago, I scored a couple TG-16 controller cables and decided to swap the PCE cord for the TG controller cord in my 15 year old hybrid tap.  The pin connector on the TG controller cord was fatter that the pin plug in the TG tap.  I realized this after initially seating the cord on the pins.  When I went to gently unseat the cord from the pins, the Turbo tap slipped and I bent the lasnt two pins a full 80 degrees to the right.  Now, no TG tap :(

Box art with Bond sporting anything other than a Walther PPK and some serious eye candy gets the editing room floor, or a seat next to the SGX Strider Eprom in the land of lost left socks.

Just like the yearbook says, I have a fully functional and wonderfully working Turbo Booster with box and foam tray insert.  And no, My car is not broken, I'm not expecting a baby, rent isn't due.  I have a Turbo Booster Plus on the way and want to find a happy home for this now unneeded Turbo Booster.

I'm really not sure what they're worth, but it's worth it if you want composite video and stereo audio for your Turbo Grafx 16.
