I asked for this game for christmas and recieved it. I always remembered enjoying it as a kid, but hadn't played it in over 25 years. I am on level 36 and proceeding when time allows.
For those not familiar, its basically a platformer with pac-man style of progression.
Carrots scattered around to which you need to get all of them to clear a level. (dots)
Avoid other looney tune characters. (ghosts)
Get the medicine for short killing power. (power pellets)
Can't Jump
Other artifacts are peppered around to kill the baddies, like anvils you can push off a ledge if you time it right to fall on characters running below you. (this is kind of satisfying when successful)
Stairs/doors/pipes get you up and down the floors. (adhering to the levels theme) since you can't jump
Many levels look for you to take a set path and the other characters react similar to pac-man ghosts where they move based on your movements (you can use this to your advantage and freeze them sometimes, but it's not easy)

Just a story I felt like sharing and maybe this will prevent somebody else from being careless like me.
I have a list of 10 or so games that I want to find locally. Real common stuff that pretty much isn't worth the shipping it would cost to get from ebay. This also gives me games to look out for at thrift and flea markets.
Anyway, one of those games was Atari 2600 River Raid. After about a year (maybe more) of searching around locally, I finally found one for $1 about a month ago. Great.
A couple weeks ago, I worked a flea market and set up a booth with a friend to get rid of some house stuff after a spring purge we did. I had a box of spare Atari stuff that I brought for the sale. One of the small 2600 consoles, some accessories, games I have in triplicate (at least), and some joysticks. This box has kind of been my "catch all" for any atari crap I got that I didn't want. Well, one day, I had put ALL of my joysticks in this box for some dumb reason. The box sold.
I went to play river raid today and realized I didn't have any joysticks.
I am usually very organized with my cords/AC's/controllers/etc. and I can't believe I didn't put two sticks aside.

first, i am trying to find a mindless FPS. not heavy on objectives/missions, i just want to kill shit. NO online play either. I have played through bulletstorm campaign twice already, but something along those lines. just mindless shoot.
second, an arcade racer. not something with RPG elements where i have to build up the car. i just want to hit the gas and steer. the midnight club series is a good indication of what i am looking for, but i have one of those already. not looking for any outrun suggestions.
any thoughts?

so personally, i understand it was an error, but i bet some buyers would be furious.
what would you do?

So the "NX" thread got me thinking. I miss cartridges. Neat shells of plastic where the company had complete creative license to design it however they wanted. Some were space savers, and some were space wasters. The question here is, what was your favorite cart shape?
Here are most of the home console carts for reference. The timeline is very loose and not meant to be a factor here, just wanted to take a pic of each one. I left out the handhelds and Virtual Boy just because. Personally, I was a fan of the 32x shape/size/weight overall, but you can't deny the basic Hu either. (also left out the sega card for bias.)
Obviously, I stuck to 20 USA releases below just to start the discussion, but if you have a different cart that you prefer, then by all means mention it (and show it).

has anybody played this? i never heard of it before today. i was google searching Elemental Gearbolt and this came up as a game tied to its story. Looks like Mobile Light Force is going for around $30, so its not something i wanted to shell out for unless worth it. The youtube vids look cool, but looking for any opinion on its gameplay.
