10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

Bit Shifter - Life's a bit shifter

Pretty much the only chiptune album you'll ever need. It might be my love for strong warm melodies á la Gameboy but I think he really sets the bar for the whole genre.

I initially wanted the iPhone 4 until I learned the iPod-version was pretty much the same minus the cell phone but for less than half the price so.. I went with that. My killer-app: Espgaluda 2.

You guys started with the use of pathetic so..

I really don't care for Guitar Hero anymore (I liked the second one, played it whilst getting drunk and so on) so I'm not here to protect the games for my own pride (I left my pride 12 years ago), I'm just saying it's a waste of breath to argue the uselessnessesstess of a game series that obviously have entertained a lot of people that never really wanted to learn the guitar but enjoyed the game anyway.

AND, I want to add that one thing does not exclude the other, why should GH/RB be concidered a.. a... "robber of potential new musicians"? Me for one have both a GH-game and several real instruments.

I don't care, the only true pathetic thing is whining about it.

And Zeta: So what if my specific examples were a little off? My point was that there IS stuff you could do irl instead of in games, Guitar Hero isn't alone in that department. I mean let's break this thing down.. We have a game that lets you play your favourite songs and "become a superstar" just for pressing a few buttons. A fun game to play with when you're drunk and not have anything better to do. If you buy a guitar you have to buy an amp, gather two other friends for bass and drums, buy the bass and drums, get a place to rehearse at, make a couple of covers that is just barely not totally embarrasing (taken that you want to play the crap music that "people" listen to) and then put up a gig for your own money (what, you think music equals income? ;)).

Sure, playing music for real is more fun, I know, I've been in several bands over the years. But if I just want to sit down and play a game that is about music, the Guitar Hero concept is great. Press a few buttons = perfect songs with nice gameplay mechanics thrown in. Nothing to really write home about but it's fun for a few songs. I really think it's as valid as a game as anything else. All this reasoning about how useless the game is when we have real instruments is soooo not the things I want to debate when videogames are the subject. Shouldn't we encourage more games in our daily life?

Sorry if I come on a little rude, I'm not angry or anything..

Maybe now people will quit jackin off with toys and go learn real instruments.
I agree! And everyone playing Mario Kart should go fucking drive a real kart instead! And why play Bonk when you could put your scull on lots of real things outside instead!

I can never get over the fact that games are so cheap over there! :D The cheapest Sonic Colours you can get here is $50. I got Colours from a friend (friend discount ftw) at almost exactly $20 and I thought it was a super deal. :)

I have not seen the DS version at all but the one on Wii was fun, it is indeed like Sonic Adventure but instead of the 3D world between levels you have ordinary world maps that you navigate through. The "colours" (different skills Sonic can pick up) wasn't complicating things like I feared, instead they were quite a nice feature. It was on the easy side to say the least but I enjoyed it fully anyways.

Regarding the Fan Remix, I couldn't play it. How do you know when it's time so invest in a new computer? When the games lags so much you only see a couple of frames before it completely freezes - even if you have it on the lowest resolution and quality possible.

Downloading it now.. Exciting!

I finished Sonic Colours (Wii) the other day and I was pretty happy with that game, I hope this is in the same league (or above?).

Necro: Yeah, something like that. :)

Tats: What does "on the monolith dipping and flushing" mean?

My mother is in a wheelchair, that is on something called a monolith, and she is dipping something? Chips? What is she flushing? Poop? I mean I don't get it like at all. :D

Isn't that just.. 165 cm or something? I'm not so good at feet and elbows and eyeballs and whatever is used in the crazy parts of the world. :)

Edit: Using a converter I know realize that it's 177 cm. I stand corrected! But I wouldn't want 'em any shorter anyway. I'm 6'3" (I'm putting this converter in the bookmarks fo shizzle) and I have a bad back. :)

I'm not so sure about that. We have to consider her length (she's extremely short) and pure fat isn't all that heavy (volume doesn't guarantee weight, to some extent). But yeah, I wouldn't bet on anything under 200. God bless her soul. <3

I heard that Axelay and Area 88 were the best shooters for the system and that Super Aleste was nothing more than a funny little game not to take seriously because of it's low difficulty. I got them all eventually and the one game of all SNES shooters I actually had fun with - was Super Aleste.

TGX16: Nerd is actually just nörd - someone who nows much about a certain subject. Tönt is more like geek, with a degree of negativity to it that is.

The vegetarian shoes are made of plain synthetic materials with recycled tires for soles. The slight funny thing about your thoughts about the green boots is that the only boots that are green irl is the regular ones (made out of dead animals and not spinach). :)

Also, I really don't get your comment on the blowjobpic. Can you maybe.. PM it in swedish or something, maybe it's translation problems.

Best christmas tree last year:

NecroPhile: It has more to do with our government being really political correct. Sexism (the objectification of women in this case) is frown upon - it doesn't have to be naked bodies to imply that women are toys for men to play with. But we still have stupid commercials now and then that have no point other than "look, a chick"! They are mostly protested against though. I love rebellion so I'm pretty pleased with the way things are. :)

It actually works! My girlfriend who is on the edge of needing glasses saw Marilyn when she leaned back. I on the other hand had to leave the room to see it. Squinting also did the job and was easier. Eh.. This is the end of my report.

$20 for a fake tree?! What a bargain (I'm not joking)! Maybe it's completely hideous though.. :)
#183
Well, it ain't christmas without nuts.
#184
Yeah, that's my point. :) We don't change anything just because it's "halloween".

Edit: It's like.. People willingly adopt any kind of special day as long as it gives them reason to get wasted on a tuesday. I'd prefer if we'd skip the middle hand and have the courage to vomit on the bus without an international reason. With this said, my christmas tree should seem a bit hollow, but I'm not celebrating christmas, I'm just putting shining stuff up and drink mulled wine. It's a nice break from the cold.
#185
We don't trick and treat. Halloween isn't that big over here.. The ones that actually celebrates the day just puts on a random costume (preferably a plastic mask worth $1 at a gas station), get drunk and goes home. :)

Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5. It has been collecting dust a few months and I had forgotten what a gem it is. I love it! (don't know if I was right on the has/had/have there.. but you know what I'm trying to say)

Calling (Wii). It actually scared me a couple of times in the first hours which is rare since I have played many horrorgames and consider the genre one of my favorites - therefore "hardened". :) Out of curiosity I ventured online to see what other people thought (something I very seldom do since people never thinks like me) and I was as usual surprised (maybe I should say I WASN'T surprised...) to read that everyone hates it. Around 2/5 is the most common grade with a warning not to play it. I couldn't care less, I think the game is sweet and that is all that matters.

I recieved a Super Street Fighter Fightpad for 360 (the Guile-one) today and it didn't work. Yaaay..

Whoa! I'm SO in!

Coolest thing I got for christmas was PS1 + Final Fantasy 7 back in the day. I had no idea what to expect, I only knew 2D/sprites. It blew my mind!

Yeah, it is a bit on the small side. Have you tried that plastic thingy that can be taken apart into a "regular" gun as well as a rifle? I'm gonna try and find a picture..

Here:

Maybe that will fit our hands better? Maybe not, the front handle look a bit small.

Well, I got Link's Crossbow Training (complete with zapper in mint condition) for what should equal around $10 a year ago and yesterday I got it home (I bought it off a friend and since then we both forgot about it). I loved it. I've never played a gun-game that actually works satisfactory (fuck lightguns á la GunCon etc) on a TV at home so I was pleased with the controller. My local game store (that only sells expensive new games to rip everyone off) had House of the Dead: Overkill for 175 swedish crowns ($25) so I bought it yesterday. It's so lame-ass bad it's good! :D Yeah, the action and aiming is good, but the sexist and limp cutscenes, story and coating is fucking awful but it gets good just because of it. :D I love this cheesy game, and I can't stop shooting! BANG BANG MUTHAFUCKAH!
