The thrift store Savers is still selling 4-pack bundles.  These are 4 games which I have never owned, all for $12.99.

IMG

All mint complete.  I hear that Pirates Gold can be worth more than that alone.  This copy came with color instruction manual (a rarity on the Genesis), map and warranty/customer service registration card.  Still need the 32X Mortal Kombat 2.

I always use this image when trying to illustrate 240p or "scanlines"

240p2.jpg

Notice those black lines between each blue and yellow line?  That's what people mean by "scanlines".  They are ever-present.  They do not go away and do not move on a proper 240p display (such as a CRT SDTV).  These are caused by the lack of the video switching to the even set of lines during interlacing and just living on the odd set of lines.  As a result, every other line appears to be blank, but thanks to what I call "bloom" (not sure if this is the correct term), the lines that DO have visual information in them seem to overpower the "blank" lines, giving the screen image some free anti-aliasing in the process.  During a normal interlaced picture, these blank scanlines are still there, they are just wobbling back and forth.  The image overpowers them and the brain does not register them.  You can still see them on an interlaced image if you look really close or move your eyes up or down the screen (you'll see it as if the lines are scrolling up or down).

I guess the Space Ace chick wins, but the Dragon's Lair chick makes some sexy noises if I recall correctly.

I Hate Geese!

Here in Colorado, we have lots and lots of Geese roaming around almost everywhere. They nearly make most parks unusable due to their large and abundant droppings. Plus they look stupid and are annoying. I become angry when I see them. They are not native to my state. So why are they here in such large numbers? Because stupid people keep feeding them! They get lots and lots of free food this way, so of course they're gonna stay. I guess people like sitting on benches feeding ugly, smelly, giant, annoying birds which offer no benefit to the planet. I want all geese to die. I want to poison them. Their presence causes me great distress.

Still, I'd much rather feed a goose than a homeless person.

I also hate hornets, yellowjackets and wasps.  Bees are OK just as long as they don't try to fuck with me.  Here's a frame from some video I took of some ants just today.  Ants don't bother me.  However I don't like any insects in the house.

Since you posted the links, that saves me the hassle of merging threads.  But I'll do one better and actually post the pics just so this thread can be mintcomplete.

The Genesis version of Air Buster/Aero Blasters does look better graphically in pretty much all areas, but the TG-16 version is still the version I'd rather play.  It doesn't have the pseudo-loading screen and just seems to have smoother control.  Oh, and the music is better.

Here is my official comparison for Sega-16

That's not a combo game, it just comes with both versions.  A HuCard that uses a CD would be a combo game.  No 32X game uses both cart and CD.

I like this.

To me, religion usually seems to be a way for people to feel comfortable in their existence.  They cannot accept the fact that there is no afterlife.  Religion is a means of living forever, so to speak.  The thought of death frightens people to no end since they are so primitive.  There's gotta be something after death, right?  There's just gotta!!!  Also, people have a hard time believing nature and mankind could do such wondrous things.  A pretty cloud in the sky?  That's god.  People saved from a terrible fire?  That's god.  A whole bunch of people die in a terrorist attack?  Oh, that's man!  Of course man could never create something as good as the PC Engine on their own.

The fact is that god doesn't do shit.  It is primitive to believe in a god.

Mine is TurboGrafx-16 + CD-ROM and all flavors of System Cards (except Game Express and v1.0) hooked to a 20-inch CRT TV.  Video is output via RGB mod to a RGB to Component transcoder and that component video is fed straight into the TV which then sends a light beam to meet my eyes which send the signal to my brain... all without any dot crawl or color smear!  For those who complain that the video signal is supposed to be a bit smeared, my right eye doesn't exactly see perfectly so it helps add a bit of fake smear so the developers' intentions are realized.  The audio is piped out via two "RCA" style cables which carry the left side audio and the right side audio on two completely separate and independent cables to my audio system where it produces the sweet sounds that massage my ear drums which send signals to my brain which translates it into Cadash music (no matter which game is played)

Here is are a couple of pictures to show you!

Note: That computer is not the one I regularly use.  It is a spare at best.

Chris, your examples are really interesting  For fun I booted up one of the very few PC Engine emulators for the Mac simply called "TGEmu" and captured the first screen of Bonk's Revenge.  I see water and coconuts!

Lonely Gauntlet 4

IMG

This is the epic and heart-wrenching tale about Gauntlet 4 and how it is so lonely.  It just wants to fit in somewhere, but it was rejected by all of the other Genesis games.  Can it fit in with the Sega CD or maybe the 32X games?  What does the future hold for Gauntlet 4 other than loneliness?

-Written, produced and directed by Joe Redifer!!! OMG!
-Featuring actual music to listen to while you watch!
-The most gripping and emotional tale ever told about Gauntlet 4!  Other Gauntlet 4 stories don't even compare!
-Release date: Right now.

Video:

-Youtube (direct HD link... Youtube actually calls 480p "HD", LOL)
-Quicktime 720p (this is the best version and the scource for the Youtube and WMV versions) - 44.8 MB

-Windows Media 720p (still looks pretty darn good!) - 34.9 MB

Yours is only the second PS3 I've ever heard of with a loud fan.  My friend's does it after about an hour and only on games, but never BDs.  If it were a widespread issue, I'd be reading about it all over the place.

Also, I have heard the latest Sony BD player still has issues with certain discs and will not play them.  I have not personally researched this, but it's what I've heard.  PS3 is compatible with ALL BDs.  I'm jus' sayin'.

PERFECT!!!

Except maybe for the typo noted below:

IMG

The word "not" should be inserted.

It was probably like this before, but I never really read it close.  Oh well, easy fix.  I hope you didn't
already export a dozen different copies and upload it to Youtube, etc.

People are gonna love this.  Where are Keranu and Nat?

I know what you mean.  Great examples are climbing up the rope at the beginning of Legendary Axe or the Ys 1&2 title screen (see below), Stage 2 in SMS Shinobi (where the purple stripes on the buildings seem to move with you) or just about EVERY NES game.

I present to you the Ys title screen as viewed in composite (slowed WAAAAY down, of course):

In RGB or s-video, it is one solid image, no shimmering.

#135
The bars are just a fact of life concerning composite video on the Genesis.  You can get around this by adding a 32X (assuming it has all of the required cables).  This clears up the vertical bar problem since it has its own composite video encoder.  Or you can use RGB or get an S-video mod.  The fuzziness you hear is likely inherent to the particular model of Genesis you have.  Late model ones and some model 2's have this.  Late model 1s do not have "High Definition Graphics" printed above the cartridge slot.

IMG

The AC adaptors are different.  The Genesis model 1 uses one that is 17w and the Sega CD model 1 uses one that is 35w.  I have no clue about the model 2s.

But seriously, have we not learned anything from WW16-bit? Can't we all just get along?  :P
That's why I bought all three systems!  Only people who are too poor can't afford all three and therefore feel the need to bash the other systems.  It is usually Xbox 360 owners who do the bashing, probably to justify that they've gone through 4 or 5 360's.  I'm still on my first 360, though.

Same here.  It's hard to discover games that have a non-English name.  Would you take a glance at something called Yuu Yuu Ginsei?  Would you even remember that name in the morning if it looked good?  Japan needs to do away with the Japanese language and become ALL ENGLISH.  It's only fair.

Anyway here is my screenshot:

I can't remember the term for such digits, but it goes from 0-9 and then from A to F.  So A=10 and F=15.  0 is also considered a number to that's 16 digits to choose from.  It doesn't do any good for the user to see sizes represented in this manner.

If you want a better way to see the file sizes and have access to a CD-ROM, get Valis 4 (Japan only) as it has this built in and the display and representation of sizes is much cleaner and more well thought out:

Once I realized that it must be a video capture, I used my past knowledge of Game and Watch Kirby to deduce that it must be Keith Courage in Alpha Zones since she has posted video of it on Youtube.  I am better than Sherlock Holmes!
