10/31/2023: Localization News - Dead of the Brain 1!

No, NOT a trick, a Halloween treat! Presenting the Dead of the Brain 1 English patch by David Shadoff for the DEAD last official PC Engine CD game published by NEC before exiting the console biz in 1999! I helped edit/betatest and it's also a game I actually finished in 2023, yaaay! Shubibiman also did a French localization. github.com/dshadoff/DeadoftheBrain

i wish i knew, but will say I've had 3 in the past 5 yrs (all in the wild finds) so it seems to be a high run number.  I also see a bunch in peoples collections so they deft can't be a low run or rare in any sense. On the other hand i do know more people with duo's than the cd systems but that might not have any correlation....
#2
that calculator is really cool...smart advertising
#3
nice raffle, congrats to the winner i just recently picked up my duo from a trade...great system and now i can throw away the super system card, lol
#4
$200 is what I've seen on two private sales....bro price of $150 is a great deal anything over $200 is high to me
#6
I've never tried between the tap and system but know I've never had problems using them from the controller to the tap. And that's with a mix of controllers to a tg16 both U.S. and pce controllers with adapters

Quote from: BigusSchmuck on 06/03/2015, 09:15 PMI got a loose pce card, can I sign up?
I would prefer it went to someone who needed it for a US card as it is probably a lot harder to come by than the pce version case.
Then cancel me,  my card is pce too.
thanks for being honest and letting me know. I would like for someone to complete their set.  :)

My gf tries but gets confused and orders things that seem likes what she's looking for but the way people list things on eBay and Amazon are deceiving as we all have seen and her use of these sites is almost zero so she ends up getting me a game she thinks is cib but never is.....I appreciate the effort but told her just use my wish list or watch list as they are vetted already, lol
#14
Well, sad to say I didn't find it....but I tried my best with me being over in Romania for a little bit. Maybe when I get back stateside I can do some hardcore research but he is what I got. This is a copy and paste from my email (I added "friend" and the last part to really drive home the email" hope it's ok....

Hello,
I am writing to seek help as a friend has challenged me to find a beloved strawberry quik land TV spot from the early 90s. The original is on YouTube but the strawberry version is not and would ask if it possible to view it anywhere. I do not want to post it on any site such as YouTube just to win a small quest by a friend to relive a long ago memory.  Thanks and just so you know he supports you almost every day with a glass....

#18
thats prob an ebay price, not sure really hard call....kinda like the cd hardshell carry case its not needed at all but some people would like it to add to the overall collection. and being in box has to be hard to find, i would think half that would be a store price that would actually sell, but not sure its deft a hard one to price.
#20
lol, Hawaii girls is an expensive game and that means good, right
#21
raiden is very cool but i sadly don't have it yet.....thanks
#22
thanks, i wasnt sure too many would care, but i like seeing other peoples games and set-ups....
#23
yep $40 without the manual too me anyways is prob right
#24
here is a link to my tg library video if anybody would care to see it, this was filmed a few months ago and i've added a few more titles but its a good solid library and I'm happy with it. of course this is a game room tour so more than just tg stuff but its the second set of games i show and then i show my gaming set-up. let me know what u think.
#25
i agree investing is suspicious and a full investigation needs to be launched as i see the ebay prices jumping again after u invest more money, i believe is how it was put...

Quote from: guest on 05/20/2014, 08:06 AMIt still wasn't that rare until the Turbo became the hip console to quickly put together "sets" of. "Collectards" love having "holy grails", so after Magical Chase got quickly flipped many times within a year, it quickly became a legend. It was further fueled by professional investers snatching up multiple copues and sitting on them. Like the inflated Turbo market in general, it's all based on misguided speculation.

Unfortunately, this has led to too many gamers lashing out at a great game in retaliation, even though no one had anything nearly so negative to say about it before it became popular with collectors. In both cases it's all just a reaction to hype.
yep look at the numbers up to even less than a yr ago, people just started buying it then going "holy shit i just paid $650 for this", listed it/sold for $800....and on and on till now. i missed out on a chip and manual for just under 700 2x by 2 sellers in feb of 13 cause i thought it to be too high, then bam thats the number just to start a bid, lol. it will all die like beanie babies once it gets too high and the number of chase's get on ebay....i think it might have started look just last month 2 show up and get around 8-10k in bids don't know if they actually sold and now there is 5 on ebay none over 3k thats a big drop! i hope they all lose their asses on this and i gets back to the few hundred range sooner than later

Quote from: InfraMan on 05/04/2014, 09:49 AMI guess $10,000 is the standard going rate for random Turbo lots these days?

holy crap i have three of those games in that 4 game lot, i guess i can now put that downpayment on my new boat....hahaha thats craziness to think anyone would entertain the idea of paying close to that $1k on ebay would sell but 10k no way not even on ebay
#28
i'd do two of each and I'm in the US so pm me the total and ill get it out to you asap, thanks
#29

so this seller seems to have all the titles everyone is missing (bonk 3 cd and terraforming) but man the prices are crazy high, i tried out the best offer on terraforming just to see what he came back with.....i threw up $450 for the first offer and he said $950 so i just declined as its obvious he's trying to milk someone and its not gonna be me. so heres the link and wanted to know if anyone here knew who it was..... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bonk-3-Bonks-Big-Adventure-TurboGrafx-CD-1993-/111333626250?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item19ec00518a

Quote from: tggodfrey on 04/16/2014, 07:50 AMWelcome......Let me guess...You work at Amarg?

Shapeshifter is one of my favorites.  I read your other post about how you die in the sewers.  One trick or method that might help you, you are limited to the number of lives you can have in the game and the game is a save based game.  I start out any level and play through it, after the boss is dead, if I died at all I simply reload and play through it again until I have completed the boss with no lives lost.  This gives you practice through the level obviously.
I do not work there in AD so i work flt line....good suggestion thats what im actually doing with the restarts and if i die more than twice i just go on and mess around thats why i keep dieing. Honestly the game is easy what makes it difficult is the god awful jumping its too percise and if u are on the edge it makes u fall back. But im almost done with it so should be good little video when its done. Thanks
#40
I don't play them, just buy me and keep them on a shelf forever. No one touches or really even looks at them. This keeps them mint and the value high.....hahaha now that everyone's blood is at a boil I gotta go beat shape shifter as I'm up to the creature from the black lagoon
#41
After getting the tg and a few games I too became a fanboy. It's a great system with very few terrible games, and is now by far my fav system with the neo geo aes at number 2. So basically it's the mor uncommon early 90s systems that keep my attention best
#42
Wow these prices to me are crazy high......it's looking like every dollar is getting squeezed out of this tg gold rush, I will take my money and pass....hell I'll goto ebay and get a deal compared to this....crazy this is not community at all, that's store prices
#43
Got mine today, they look great and easy transaction, thanks!
#44
Here are some extras I'm looking to many trade but will look at all offers. I'm fair on trades and sells so just let me know.

Legendary axe - this is in a Keith courage case
Legendary axe 2- cic
Alien crush-cic
Battle royal-cic
TV sports football-cic I know this is very rare so nothing under $180 for this one......lol
Dungeon explorer - cic
Keith courage - cic no comic
Order of the Griffith - manuals only I have two, one is good condition and could be a good replacement manual. The second has multiple corner bends and a good one for someone needing the manual

Most cases hinges are busted but games and manuals are in good condition and come with vinyl sleeves. I will upload a pic when I can get the size correct. But if interested I can email u a pic, just pm me. Thanks!
