Thanks. I have read a guide online for whitening a PC Engine using only pure liquid bleach. No sunlight or anything. When I get the gamebit I ordered (required to open it), the first thing I'm gonna do is give the plastics a thorough cleaning in warm soapy water. I'll go on from there if required.

The rules prohibit roms and isos being directly linked; that's it.  Nobody has prohibited scans of manuals, case/disc art, magazines, or the like.

That's good. I'd just feel a bit guilty if someone got banned in a thread I made.

Also, one of those pages discusses how to burn CD-Rs. Whilst fairly benign within a community, a 3rd party hoster could well consider it instructions for piracy. After being in that industry for a bit I can assure you I've seen account terminations for less. If this site is hosted from a private server the previous doesn't apply.

the original white pc engine don't have any Audio Video connection except for RF.  you can buy an AV booster that slots into the back that gives you the composite RCA connections or a later model that adds battery back up RAM.

Or you can mod the console for either s-vid, RGB or even mod the AV booster

The later models of the pc engine ie coregrafx, coregrafx-II, shuttle and supergrafx have AV connections to composite RCA.

Yeah, mine just has RF. There's a bloke in Canada that does an addon that does RGB through it using the expansion port.

I bought 4 PCE controllers and a multi tap for about $70-$75 shipped from Japan. I didn't think it was too bad of a price really. That's roughly $12-$15 per piece.

I just bought a 2 button original PCE controller from a Japanese seller for $17. The English sellers are taking the piss.

there are reasonable priced pc engine pads on ebay uk, but you have to wait for them and some are listed from GBP1 or GBP5 starting prices, at the end of the day, pc engine was never released in UK, even turbo grafx wasn't really official released in uk and the prices dictates it's supply, there will always be buy now ripp off prices, just look a nes mini and it's 5 folds inflated prices

even computer exchange or very occasionally then game or gamestation has odd pc engine items, but the prices won't be cheap as pc engine is quite rare in UK, just like seeing spectum 128k or commadore amiga or even worse amstad gx4000 in usa,

The Amiga was released in the USA.

Sellers in the UK often overcharge.

When it comes to video games, as said above this my favorite subject.

That's why I love old fanzines, it's like a window portal back into that time. The one Esteban linked to above is a perfect example.

Through the 16 bit era the PC Engine and the grey import scene was massive in the UK, but for some reason I don't know, there seems to be a lack of any community that wants to reminisce about those days. I'm jealous of Shubibiman who has the French Necstasy forum. I would love a UK equivalent.

Backup RAM, the 2 kB memory used for saving in games and are added by peripherals like Ten no Koe 2, Backup Booster and the CD units.

Well...a TED is physical and tangible...it even cost real money. Let's see how you feel about flash drives after you start hunting down games

I'd say 95% of the Everdrive owners here also have a large library of real games. It's worth it for the 2-3 uber $ games like MC and Coryoon. Each individual does have different needs, such as me, the TED is convenient when going to conventions since I do not have to lug all my Hu's plus if stolen, it's replaceable much easier.

I can understand the pragmatic appeal of an Everdrive. I still prefer physical carts, and I'm in no hurry. I can hold on and find good deals. Japanese sellers are also usually way cheaper than the Western scumbags and their fucking ridiculous OTT prices.

Yeah I mean, I don't want to start a morality debate or anything. Is the game available to buy digitally? A very quick and lazy search on my part says no, in which case I really see zero harm in downloading it. Ultimately it's a personal decision, but I can't see paying hundreds for it.

If the original creators, or at the very least the publishers or rights holders aren't making any money off of the game anymore, then I'd say it's fair game...

The PCE version of Puyo Puyo Tsu is well done by the standards at the time, but it could have been better than the arcade. It runs in a higher resolution, which preserves the pixelart of the arcade. I believe that the only downgrade is the missing background in the puzzle boxes and mediocre chiptune sound quality. The imperfections stand out mostly because of how well the original game turned out on PC Engine.

I don't get why they used chiptune at all on a CD. I also don't get why there's no background when the 1st game had it. Should have stuck it on a HuCard.

Haven't played it on MD. Have played it on PCE/Sat/SFC though. I'd take the disc based versions over the SFC version any day.

PCE version looks rather half-arsed in that video.

Possible I was thinking of the first Puyo on PCE. I love the Saturn controller so that's really all I play it on. Sounds like the MD version is worth checking out though.

The model 2 Saturn controller rocks. I play with both the 6 & 3 button MD controllers. Both are fantastic. I may even prefer the 6 button MD controller to the Saturn.

Yeah I mean, I don't want to start a morality debate or anything. Is the game available to buy digitally? A very quick and lazy search on my part says no, in which case I really see zero harm in downloading it. Ultimately it's a personal decision, but I can't see paying hundreds for it.

Highly doubt it. The FX is so obscure outside of hardcore retro fans.

Haven't played it on MD. Have played it on PCE/Sat/SFC though. I'd take the disc based versions over the SFC version any day.

PCE version looks rather half-arsed in that video.
